Some of the regions finest golf courses, including the Westport Country Club ranked 4 star by Golf Digest Magazine. Wonderful biking routes throughout the Adirondack area. Lake Placid, the site of the 1932 and 1980 Olympics, is home to the annual Lake Placid Horse Show and Ironman Triathlon, and offers great shopping and dining all summer. Burlington, Shelburne and Vergennes Vermont are just across the lake (ferry service is 15 minutes away), with Shelburne Farms, the Shelburne Museum, Lake Champlain Maritime Museum, and the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory. Willsboro, New York and its neighboring Adirondack villages offer a number of excellent dining, shopping and entertainment options, including professional live theater and concerts.
A base for some great day trips::
Historic Saratoga, a 90 minute drive, home of the Saratoga Race Track offers thoroughbred horse racing (including the Travers Cup) from late July to the end of August. Montreal is a short one and a half hour drive, making it a perfect day trip. The city features world-class cuisine, shopping and legendary summer events, including the Montreal International Jazz Festival, the Montreal World Film Festival, and the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival.
