Located in southern Mount Washington Valley, Wonalancet is nestled between the Sandwich Mountains to the north, (and the White Mountains to their north), and the Ossippe Mountains to the south. The mountain ranges are part of the larger Appalachian Mountains, whose age is placed at 300 million years old. The old age of the mountains, (when compared to newer ranges such as the Rocky Mountains), provides for well worn and easily hiked mountain trails. Simply some of the best hiking in the world.
Further, the Ossipee Mountains to the south are an old, for a ring wall of an extinct volcano. Hiking in this area is likewise very rewarding. If hiking is not your bag, just hang out and enjoy the mountain views, or take a drive along the Kanacamagus Highway for some breathtaking views, or just laze in the brook, by the cottage, at The Cottage by the Brook!
