What a great place ... yes, the listing description is very accurate, and all the photos reflect the reality.

Excellent reactivity prior to stay from David the owner, during the reservation/confirmation phase.
Same reactivity with the manager, Marsha, who promptly responded to all emails during our stay.

Everything was clean and neat, a tad spare, but the essentials were there. Bed very good. Very pleasant and exceptionally quiet, seeing as it's in the very heart of SoBe. Corner unit has lots of natural light. Had no problem with lock-box and building feels very secure.

The best part: Location ... extremely convenient, you can't get much better than this.
Everything we needed was within a couple minutes walk, including the beach and Lincoln Rd.
Only needed a car when we explored afar, down in the Keys, otherwise we were always on foot.
Also took the SoBe local bus to make a couple of big Publix runs. A quarter gets you all around SoBe... no driving or parking headaches involved.
Tons of restaurants nearby to choose from, of every price scale and style.

We stayed 5 weeks here and enjoyed every minute of it.
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends... All in all, an excellent value for SoBe.

I will say the place itself deserves at least 3, maybe 4 but my overall rating is 2.

The short version: owner unreasonable in unforeseen events and called me at 2am. door to apt not secure. lock box didn't work. Apt extremely clean, but stark. bed comfortable. missing essentials in bathroom (and a hair dryer). good location.

The longer version: I was to arrive on Wed, Oct 31st and stay for 3 nights. 2 days prior to my departure Hurricane Sandy hit NYC, where I live and was flying out of. My flight was cancelled and I was told I would not be able to fly out until Friday night at best. I called the owner asap and said I didn't think that it made sense for me to make the trip to stay less than 12 hours in miami. He told me I was out luck and that he would still charge me in full. I later wrote him an email politely stating that I thought it was in poor taste and business practice to charge me full price for a stay I couldn't make because of a natural disaster, which made international headlines no less. I thought paying the deposit (half of the stay) was a reasonable solution. He didn't answer my email. When the airport reopened on Thursday I ended up getting a flight out that evening. I called the owner to see if the place was still available in case he had found someone to rent it. He wouldn't answer the phone. He merely "spoke" via his assistant. After getting into the apt at 12am I fell fast asleep only to wake up to my phone ringing at 2am. It was the owner who suddenly wanted to talk. seriously? I was appalled.

The manager was sweet and helpful but odd. She told me no less than 6 times that I needed to leave the apt by 11am. 6 times. When I explained to her that I thought the lock box wasn't secure I got a lackadaisical response. She was already aware of the issue.

The apartment itself: The location is perfect. The place is impeccably clean! Only the dead bolt works on the door to the apt which would be fine except the wood surrounding the lock is splintering. Pretty sure I could kick the door in. I would have complained if the building itself didn't seem secure and if I felt like I'd get a reasonable response. Bed is comfortable. The place is basic which is fine for me, but it could be less stark. The bathroom is missing a toilet paper holder, towel rack and any sort of shelving unit. IF the door was more secure and the communication reasonable, I would say the place is on par for the price.

Great alternative to the expensive hotels! Excellent location!! walk 2 blocks to Lincoln Road and 1 block to all the nightlife on Collins. Parking was one block away on 16th and Collins. Thanks so much for a great time!
