This vacation home is on a sereen and very private beach and overlooks the bay of Samana. With 3000 sq. meters of lush garden and fruit trees, it offers you a sereen tropical ambience, yet with all the comforts of a modern home. This property has its own fresh water spring, thus always ample hot and cold water, also back up battery inverter and 5 kilo generator, thus always electricity. The property is in a rural area, surrounded with coconut plantations, with a hilly landscape. There are numerous hiking trails into the surrounding hills, and a sizable waterfall nearby. From the tiki hut, there are 61 staires leading to the beach.The beach is small and very private (as you rarely see another person) and consists of pebbles and sand (This is not a world class pure white sand dream beach, but then, neither is it congested with tourists and haglers). The water entry is comfortable and shallow a long ways out, thus the generally calm bay waters offer very safe swimming conditions and good snorkeling jjust right off our pier.

Excursions- 46ft Sailboat, Fishingboat, Kayaks: Included FREE with this property rental is an 18 ft. open fishing boat with o/b motor & fishing gear ( just put the gas ), and two kayaks ( a 3 man & a 1 man ). There are many coves with lovely secluded beaches, just 20 min. away by kayak,or the fishing boat, and many more interesting and beautiful spots (like the island 'Cayo Levantado' and the national park 'Los Haitises' known for its numerous large cathederal ceiling caves with ancient Taina indian paintings ) just halve an houre away with a private excursion boat, that will pick you up, right at our pier, for a very reasonable group fare. Also, fast boat transport(20min.) to and from Cayo Levantado avail. from the house for 50 US for your entire group(not per person) round trip, full day. Also, whale watching (sighting very probable ) from mid Jan. till end March. Large waterfall at 20 min. hicke.

The town of Samana: .The friendly town of Samana (with its long waterfront promenade) has various international restaurants, night clubs, discos, a small casino, and supermarkets, and is just three miles from the house. The prop. manager/boat captain stays in a small house on the same property, although seldom seen as we respect the privacy of our guests, he is always avail. to help with any detail or answer any questions. Please, no guests under the age of five, infants excepted (unless willing to leave a damage deposite of $300, returnable on departure).From the St.Domingo arpt.(Las Americas), it is a 2hr. 10 min. drive, on a new and scenic toll road that disects the island from the south coast to the north coast, arriving Samana.

Beautiful home to relax at and enjoy the views

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Richard and Ana's house near Samana. The home is exactly what we expected. The property is beautiful and the home is beautiful and very comfortable. Richard has made sure that even with the frequent power outages you expect in the Dominican, the home continues on with back-up power so you hardly notice the change. The home has a balcony on both levels, each with wonderful views of the bay and a pool to relax in at the end of the day. As an added bonus, we found great snorkeling with an abundance of fish just a short distance off our pier! Richard and Ana were exceptional hosts, arranging the best deals on taxis and going along with us on a tour of the Los Haitises National Park, across the bay, serving as our own, personal guide. We merely walked down to the pier for our boat transport. We also did a morning whale watch with Kim’s whale watching tours, located at the public pier in Samana. We saw several whales and the trip was very enjoyable. Richard suggested that we exercise the option to be dropped off at the “island” for the afternoon. The island’s beach was exceptional and great food and beverages were available at reasonable costs. Richard and Ana even went so far as to go into town to buy us groceries and beer when we ran out of supplies.

We want interested renters to understand this property is a private residence and not an all-inclusive resort residence. You are responsible for taking care of your meals and transportation to and from Samana, if you chose to “go to town”. Our party enjoys getting away from the commercial enterprises and exploring the country as Dominicans live day to day.

All in all it was a fantastic experience and we made new friends in Richard, Ana and Bambu. We would definitely rent this home again.

Fantastic week of sun and enjoyment

We have been renting homes internationally for the past several years, and this year was the best overall experience we have had so far. Richard was the most gracious host we have encountered. He was always there when we needed him, and not there when we did not require his help or knowledge. We arrived to find some food and beer already in the refrigerator in case we did not want to make a trip into town that day. With Richard’s guidance on which place to buy produce or which restaurant to try, trips into town were extremely easy… even with no knowledge of Spanish. We took a trip across the bay to the National Park which was enjoyable for all, except for one who did not enjoy the bumpy ride back. Three days later Richard was nice enough to take us out on his sailboat for the entire afternoon. The weather was great, ride was smooth and we would recommend it highly to future renters. The house itself is in a beautiful setting, right off the main road, but isolated from everything. The steps down to the beach were a workout, but it did not stop us from making plenty of trips down to the ocean. A nice bonfire on the beach one evening followed by star grazing was a highlight as well as the morning fishing with Bamboo where we caught a fish that served as dinner for two nights and a lunch. While we hate repeating locations with the many options available out there, this will be a repeated trip in the next few years. We highly recommend this place! Thanks again Richard and Bamboo.

Above and beyond hospitality

We have rented many villas in the Caribbean but have never experienced such gracious warm hosts as Richard, Ana, and Bambu. They did everything possible to make our week the most enjoyable. Richard takes great pride in this area and is very informative and helpful in every way. They know the best spots for eating and the best spots for sightseeing. Having him around is like having your own personal guide! Also, Ana is a very talented cook and every meal was a culinary delight for us. The home is clean, simple and casual. Most of our time was spent on the relaxing deck and by the pool just enjoying the lush tropical vegetation and gorgeous views. The home is in a very good location for it is close to a small town and is centrally located to many of the sights and activities that are highlights for this area of the Dominican. Driving in Samana was not our most favorite thing to do however Bambuu would come to our rescue and fetch from town whatever we needed. Also, being that we were limited in our Spanish, our hosts were most helpful in making us feel comfortable in a third world country. This type of service really made us feel very relaxed during our vacation. This home gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself into the culture, feel safe, feel relaxed, and to meet friendly people who will definitely make your trip most memorable.

Beautiful Location... Great Experience!

It is unanimous, among our party of four that we chose a great place to stay during out 1 week trip to Samana, DR. The open-air home is very cozy and the view of the water is breath-taking. And the pool....oh,the wonderful pool....we spent many an hour at the end of each day (we ventured out and did something/went somewhere every day) in that pool with frozen concoction in hand. The location is close enough to town to be convenient but far enough away to be relatively isolated...when at the home, feels very private. All amenities are as advertised.....the house is clean and the grounds well-maintained. Did I mention the pool? The owners/hosts, Richard and Ana, were gracious hosts...(we are a fairly self-sufficient group) but they catered to our every need and were more than willing to assist us with anything that came up. Ana prepared us a simple bit oh-so-wonderful traditional Dominican dinner which we enjoyed by lamplight under the gazebo one evening....and that meal was the best we had during our entire stay....marvelous. Richard arranged open boat transportation directly from our beach to tour the Los Haitises National Park. Bambu, the property manager was also most generous with his assistance and entertained us one late afternoon (while we were lounging in the pool, of course), by climbing a tall coconut tree and retrieving some fresh coconuts for us. If you want to experience a very enjoyable aspect of DR culture and the town of Samana, we recommended you go into town on Sunday night and just hang out by the waterfront.....and visit the pizza truck while you're there, too. We would heartily recommend this property to anyone wanting something different from a resort atmosphere and at a very reasonable price.

Fun, Adventure, and Culture

Our family of six spent two weeks at this property and enjoyed every minute. We found it to be a great location from which you can either travel by boat to explore the national park, go whale watching,or just go fishing and kayaking. We also took day trips by car to several area beaches to surf or swim and returned home to relax by the pool at the end of each day. The home can easily accommodate six persons that is surrounded by beautiful grounds and has a commanding view of the ocean. Our hosts Richard, Ana, and Bambu were always available with on site assitance and Richard was able to give us suggestions/directions on what might be our next adventure for the following day. We found the people of Samana to be warm and accepting,even with our limited skills to communicate in Spanish.
