Southern Ridge Lodge is perfectly located just five minutes from highway 19 in downtown Maggie Valley. Conveniently located just outside of historic Waynesville and only minutes from Cataloochee Ski area. 4 adult couples rented the house for a week in late September, too early for leaves to have changed but the scenery was still beautiful. The house sits high in the mountain top with great views. The house is still new looking and was very large and accommadating for large group. The disappointments of the house were: not enough kitchen cookware, only 2 pots- quality was very poor. Coffe pot was broken and spilt coffee everytime you tried to pour. The mattress were poor quality and soft, foundations made noise everytime you rolled over. Horrible pillows- bring your own. Housekeeping had not done a good job-- mold in toliets, cobwebs everywhere. Our last night- NO WATER!!! This happened on a Friday afternoon after the property office closed and they did not send anyone to fix the problem, we had no water to wash, or flush and when we left on Saturday morning still no one had checked on the water problem. The drive up to house was scary at night and when raining- you may need chains and 4 wheel drive in bad weather. The propery manager was unfriendly. Beautiful house, wonderful fire pit and hot tub!!!

Myself, my fiance, and 3 other couples (plus one newborn) stayed in this gorgeous property for 4 nights. The home itself had a cozy fireplace, spacious living area, pleasantly sized rooms, pretty cool game room, and a humongous deck with a WOW view of the mountains! The only complaints we had are that the lights went out for about 10 minutes and we all freaked out searching for candles and flashlights on that one particular night. Also, the pillows are flat like pancakes so I recommend bringing your own. The ride up to the top of the mountain that the house sits on is scary and exhilerating! And last but not least, do not expect anything special in Maggie Valley, the town is underpopulated, boring, and literally has nothing to do but ski. P.S. Tube world is teeny tiny, they really fool you with the "world" part.
