If you love privacy, afternoon sun, sunsets, stars at night in a forest setting, ocean views, mountains, big sky, eagles, and deer, then this is the place for you.

Mayne Island is the most historical of the Gulf Islands situated between Vancouver and Victoria. There are about 1100 full-time residents.

Our 2800sqft house was built in 2008 and features glass, wood, granite and slate throughout. A unique feature is the bridge over the living and dining area to a spectacular covered upper deck space with breathtaking views of Active Pass and neighbouring islands.

The property affords our guests complete seclusion and privacy nestled in acres of local cedars and firs with unlimited space for your relaxing vacation. It's the ideal place for couples, families, and gatherings of all kinds.

The property has west-facing ocean views of Active Pass and the mountains of Vancouver Island beyond. The vast, expansive surroundings make for a wildlife/bird-watcher's paradise! This property and home have been described by guests as 'Bliss!'.

The home's main floor master bedroom features a solid mahogany canopy bed, with private access to the main deck. The king-sized bedroom on the lower floor featues a gorgeous Virginian antique solid wrought iron bed. All four bedrooms are very tastefully decorated and furnished in a west-coast style with forest and ocean views.

There are five bicycles on site for use. A picturesque swimming beach is a short bike ride or walk away. Visitors have loved exploring the numerous bays and sandstone caves while their children collect sea shells and play in the sand. Two grocery stores, a wonderful bakery, pub and several restaurants on the island all add to the convenience of the island.

Cable TV, Wireless Internet, a fully functioning pub-style wet bar, games room and piano are all here for you and your family to enjoy!

You can get to Mayne Island (Village Bay) by taking a BC Ferry from Victoria (Swartz Bay) or Vancouver (Tsawwassen). See BC Ferries website for schedules for the Southern Gulf Islands.

Click on the calendar for up-to-date availability. All four bedrooms have real beds with quality mattresses (1 King and 3 Queens). For larger groups after the beds are full guests usually bring their own camping mattresses and sleeping bags.

I and my family stayed for 5 peaceful nights on Mayne Island, thanks to the great surroundings provided by Mr Peter Lane.



The place was clean and very well appointed with every amenity that you could need for a short or long stay. The keyless entry was perfect for us, so each person could come and go as they pleased. The entertainment systems were in perfect working order and very much up to date. All the beds were very comfortable and had the advantage of the electric heat in each bedroom, which meant that everyone could be nice and snuggled in at the perfect temperature. There are water issues on the island due to supply, and it is advised to conserve water. We loved each of the showers, and my whole family is not really one to take large baths so we didn't find it an issue at all, to be mindful of water use. The upstairs deck gave a bit more ocean view and defiantly provided another nice sitting spot out of the rain. I felt the price of 4 bedrooms with ocean views was great.



My kids(6 and 4) loved the playhouse and teeter-totter as well as watching the ferries go by at dinner time from any one of the two decks. There is a horseshoe pit and bocce set to use, and a snack supply basket that I used to keep the kids entertained in the playhouse was super fun.

It was close enough (1.6 km)to the Village Bakery that my father was able to go and walk down and swap tales in the morning with all the local folks. You could walk to get fresh eggs from the farmers nearby, or for a pint in the pub at Miners Bay. My wife went to yoga at the Community Centre that was less then five minutes away. At dusk every night, deer would walk down the hill and across the property to feed. It was fun to watch them. The BBQ was clean and we used it every night to cook on. Due to the weather being rather wet, we loved the wood burning stove. It was idyllic to sit with a book and have the warm glow of the fire. Pure relaxation.

Great place on Mayne Island

We, a group of 7, from Vancouver were there for 2 nights. 5 adults, 2 kids. We loved the place. Peter was very flexible and responsive. We checked in early and left late. He was happy to accommodate. It is a great house and well stocked. House is on 3 levels and that works great from privacy point of view. Has 3 bathrooms. That works well. Great kitchen which you need on island as there are not many eating out options. Overall, great experience and we will be back. Thanks.

New Years on Mayne!

After a brief visit to Mayne Island in the summer, we decided this would be an excellent destination for a New Years holiday with our family. What a beautiful place for our family (8 adults) to spend time connecting after a busy 2014. We loved the home! The spacious living spaces (kitchen, dining room, living room, downstairs games room) allowed us to relax, play games, snuggle up with a good book and just visit. There was plenty of comfortable seating for all of us! What a treat to have a wood stove as well, allowing us to stave off some of the winter dampness. The bedrooms were very tastefully furnished with comfortable beds, plenty of closet space, and large windows. All of our interactions with the owners were very positive, and we look forward to taking another trip to Mayne in the future. It's a great place for either a winter or summer getaway!

Hidden gem!

Our family - six adults and three children aged 10, 8 and 3 - spent three amazing days here and would have loved to stay longer! The house is gorgeous and equipped with absolutely everything to make a visit enjoyable and memorable. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen a delight to work in, the sitting room and downstairs den great spaces to snuggle up with a book, play pool or darts or just sit around and talk. The children loved the tree house, checking out the night sky through the telescope and we were able to have a fire in the fire pit. Peter was so helpful with everything, including great recommendations for hikes and other things to do on the Island. I cannot think of anything that would have made our stay better - it was just perfect. We will DEFINITELY book this lovely home again.

Relax

Wonderful location and amenities. We had 2 couples and teenagers with us (10 people total) who enjoyed the pool table and separate game room downstairs. The home was well equipped with many extras and the check in and out went very smoothly. The home is really organized for 8 sleeping with towels and sheets included for this number. The extra 2 people must provide their own mattresses, sheets and towels as stated in agreement. A sofa bed would be a good addition to the house to sleep the 10 as listed. A little confusing.

Owner's Response: Sorry for the confusion on the sleeping arrangements. The website makes us put in a max number for occupancy and we put 10 to let larger groups know the house is large enough to fit everyone. Will update the info further to be clearer that after the 4 beds are full people will want to bring camping mattresses and sleeping bags. There is lots of floor space for those people who don't secure a spot in one of the comfy beds!
