Maybe it’s the beautiful stone fireplace, the exposed wood beam ceiling, or the plush sofa in the home theater room, but this place feels every bit as cozy as home. Of course, not every home has a gourmet kitchen, deluxe bathrooms with multiple showerheads, and a massive deck with a 6 person Sundance Hot tub, but you get the picture. It’s warm. It’s welcoming. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to come home to after a long day of skiing, hiking, or boating and feel every bit as comfy as you would in your own place.

Let me start with the positives:
The kitchen and (2) baths are all relatively new, clean and modern. The kitchen is very large with plenty of seating, a decent amount of "hardware" (pans, dishes etc.) and good appliances. There were extra pillows, blankets, clean towels etc. The family room is nice to hang out in, the deck is nice and the hot tub is great. The temperature and jets are both adjustable, it’s very clean and pretty private. Nice grill on the deck. If you were staying in the master bedroom suite upstairs- it’s fantastic. Huge room, great bathroom (dual sinks, separate shower, jetted tub) sky lights and storage galore.
However- if you are a grown adult the other bedrooms and bath are impractical and annoying. IF the beds are queen size- they are lumpy and sagging in the middle. There is no bath upstairs except in the master suite. So the alternative is the downstairs bedroom. Which does not have a dresser, single hanger or luggage rack. An open Ikea cube shelf with an ancient TV on it is NOT a dresser. Our clothes fell out of it constantly- including behind the TV with the dust bunnies. My husband gave up and just left his stuff in his suitcase on the floor in the closet. Mind you- the carpet isn't exactly pristine. The bathroom is the same way- tiny sink with no countertop. No hooks or shelf. No soap dish or toothbrush holder. Our toiletry bags were perched precariously on the toilet back/top. The dual headed-shower is great- but the see-through moldy shower curtain was not. Bottom line it felt like we were staying in a dorm room. We wanted a nice couples retreat and instead we slept rolled together in the bed divet, were tripping over our stuff on the floor and hoping our brushes didn't wind up in the toilet. It got old pretty fast.
I've only rented one other home so perhaps this is the norm- but there is absolutely NOTHING stocked in this house. Save a few sample packets, t. paper and Kleenex. There weren't paper towels, napkins, cleaning supplies, garbage bags etc. No spices (not even salt/pepper) no condiments, no sugar for your coffee. Not a single food item. Pantry, fridge utterly empty. Safeway quickly become pricey- pack anything and everything you may need.
While we were happy with the "recreational" parts of the home- the other issues overshadowed it. We were easily able to extend our visit w/Invited Home so we could enjoy Tahoe more- and I do appreciate that. But we certainly didn't want to stay in that room any longer.
The house was very nice and very clean. All the beds had clean, warm, and comfortable covers. The pillows were new. The heater throughout the entire house was excellent. The controls were simple and clear. The gas fireplace was a big plus. The master bedroom shower was great -- it had 4 additional jets. The hot tub was very well maintained.
The refrigerator, stove, and all the appliances in the kitchen were very clean. The towels were nice and clean. Once we had a guy come over and help us figure out the complicated controls, the TV was very nice with a great surround-sound system.
The kitchen had lot of utensils. We had a very good internet connection.
That’s the positive side. There were quite a few things, though, that could and should be improved. I have 2 rental homes in Oahu, and have rented a lot of other homes over the years, and I felt this house wasn’t equipped with the basic needs for renters. There were a lot of things that were missing in this house and that were very annoying for us:
As you pull up to the house, the first thing you see is a raggedy sign on the garage door that says “Owner Garage – No Guest Access.” This is Tahoe in the winter – it would sure be nice to put our car in the garage (our guests in Hawaii have access to the garage). As you enter the house in the living room, there is no space or closet to hang jackets. (There is a coat closet, but it’s padlocked.) We had to use kitchen counter chairs for hanging our winter coats. It was funky and messy, but there was no alternative.
There were only 2 kitchen towels and no cleaning rags or cleaning products. There was only 1 little sample-sized bottle of dish washing liquid soap, and 2 little packets of dishwasher detergent, which means we could only run the dishwasher twice before we had to go out and buy some more detergent. There was only 1 little sample-sized pack of laundry detergent that was already opened and partly used. There was only 1 almost empty bottle of Simple Green that we had to add water to in order to clean the areas. There were no rubber gloves or any other cleaning supplies, and only 1 half-empty roll of paper towels. That was it.
The bottom tray in the dish washer didn’t work properly. There weren’t any garbage bags. There was only 1 garbage bag in the tall garbage bin in the house. The stove had no vent above it. The smoke alarm was near the stove so when
We recently just stayed at this home to celebrate my sisters upcoming nuptuals, we had family and friends and enjoyed a low-key weekend of outdoor fun and loved staying in this home. It was exactly as pictured and contained all the amentities you need. The home was clean and organized. I would definately recommend this home. The only negative feedback I have is that the hot-tub water was scalding hot and we were not able to relax and take advantage of it. But truly this home is great and as described!
Our family stayed at your beautiful home during President's week. My 12 and 8 year old immediately loved the house! It is such a pretty home with modern amenities. The kitchen is fully stocked, and their are plenty of beds for multiple families. The bunk room is a favorite with my 8 year old. If you have toddlers, the lack of a banister may be an issue. Check in was easy and the location was perfect for skiing and restaurants. Such an enjoyable stay! Thank you!
I've stayed in a lot of cabins in the Tahoe area, but this cabin by far is my favorite. The location is perfect, you have access to ski resorts, dowtown, and Lake Tahoe in minutes. All of the appliances are up to date and the cabin itself feels like a home away from home. I am definitely coming back!
