Winter, summer, spring or fall, renew and revitalize your spirits at Blue Heron Barn. Relive a quieter time and enjoy a hard-earned stay at The Carriage House, originally a barn built in the early 1800´s and lovingly rebuilt on the property. Sharing a hillside view by a restored sandstone farmhouse overlooking the beautiful Blue Heron Pond (for gazing only), you´re surrounded by the solitude of nature and of yourself. The cozy interior includes carefully crafted hand hewn beams and period hardware from an age gone by, blending with modern conveniences like satellite TV and Wi-Fi. An awesome getaway and GREAT owners! We were late getting in and John met as at a loca store so we could follow him to property. Once we were there, did not not want to leave! Was quite and serene, with an abundance of wildlfife!

We cannot wait to get back up there, which will be soon hopefully!!

Do not pass up the chance to spend a quite and relaxing getaway at this property!!

FANTASTIC!

Review Submitted: September 15, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Relaxing, rustic, very zen experience. Fully equipped kitchen with excellent quality cookware, Direct TV and full stereo but the setting was so fabulous, we did not even turn it on. Restored barn is a great place for a romantic getaway, huge back deck with grill, short drive to Mt. Gretna. Very clean... cannot say enough about this place. Owners John and Becky are charming and will provide anything you want within reason, although we've stayed there twice and they only seem to be around when you need them. Great stuff...

Romantic private getaway

Review Submitted: August 31, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We just returned from our 4 day stay- and would love to go back right away! John greeted us with open arms, and gave us a tour of his beautiful carriage house, which is decorated with love- and it shows in every detail! It is truly a home away from home- and we loved every moment of our stay. The owners really put a lot of thought of what might be needed, and exceeded our expectations in every aspect. We really only left once for a day trip,to visit a few Amish towns- even though the location would invite more sightseeing or shopping. We simply enjoyed nature, peace and quiet, and creating new memories. This was a trip we decided on at the last moment- and it could not have been any better.......well, only if it had been longer...

Week of Relaxation and Serenity

awells Raleigh, North Carolina
Review Submitted: June 7, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
Staying at The Blue Heron Barn was wonderful! The grounds are absolutely beautiful, to look out the window and see deer, wild turkeys and lush grounds was amazing. It was nice to wake up to birds chirping and a cool breeze. We loved every aspect that the quaint barn had to offer. The carriage house had everything we needed for the week, we just supplied our food. The outside of the house matched the inside, very clean, cozy and well-maintained. The owners were super nice and made sure that we had everything we needed. I would highly recommend this property to anyone who loves nature, beautiful surroundings, and staying in a place that feels like home. We enjoyed driving through the countryside, shopping in Lititz, stopping at the Intercourse Canning Company, eating at Kling's Family Restaurant, and the Bird-in-Hand Amish Bakery (just to name some of our favorites). The cottage was centrally located to everything we wanted to visit. We can't wait to come back!

Spectacular Stay!

CLB Washington Washington, DC
Review Submitted: June 1, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We spent a relaxing and stress-free weekend at this amazingly beautiful carriage home in the heart of Dutch county. The drive from Washington was quick (less than three hours with holiday traffic) and scenic.

The serene environment allowed us to really be "offline" from the hectic lifestyle that we lead, however, you can still be connected via the Intranet to plan your day! The cottage is a convenient home base for day trips to Amish country, markets and many wineries.

The cottage is kept in immaculate condition (appreciated since we are so neat) and being a group who loves to cook the kitchen and the tools provided were top-notch--no other HomeAway property has compared.

We extend our thanks to John, the owner, who was very hospitable and generous during our stay. This property is quite a gem, and quite frankly straight out of an issue of Architectual Digest.

We enjoyed ourselves immensely and hope to return in the near future.
