Our BEACHFRONT home is designed to provide you with a perfect vacation retreat. The house is as close to the beach as you legally can build.
The beach of Kailua is renown for its fine white sand, blue green waters and safety. This is not a crowded beach, but has a pleasant neighborhood feel.
The 4 Bed/3.5 Bath house gives plenty of space. Upstairs/downstairs and corner bedrooms offer privacy when needed yet togetherness as desired. The 1300 sq ft wrap around lanai gives everyone the feeling of participating in the adventures, whether watching and yelling encouragement, or showing off newly learned water skills.
Our house has everything you need and a casual feeling that will make you feel right at home. The Hawaiian style furnishing and feeling has made our home recommended by some true Hawaiian leader as the best Hawaiian home available.
A garage FULL of BEACH TOYS, YARD TOYS, BBQ OPTIONS, TEAK LOUNGERS, ROCKERS, & TABLES will ensure that you never have a dull moment. The Large Yard allows for plenty of play as well as relaxation.
Kailua is a charming town that has many delicious restaurants and shopping for everyone. You can get all the essentials and find many things to take home as moments of you Hawaiian vacation.
Getting to attractions such a PEARL HARBOR, the NORTH SHORE, HANAUMA BAY is very simple.
The House : The house has 3 Bedrooms Upstairs and 1 in the Lower Level.
The Upper Master Suite has a king bed, full bathroom, and private access to the lanai.
Garden Bedroom has a queen bed and tranquil mountain views
2 Koa Wood Twin Beds furnish the Koa Bedroom which has great views of the beach and yard.
A Large Living Room opens onto the Lanai overlooking the ocean and wrapping around three sides of the house providing views of the beach, the yard, and the mountains. Comfortable couches allow for maximum relaxation while taking in the views of watching a DVD on the flat screen tv. The dining table is perfect for gathering around for dinner conversation.
Downstairs consists of a semi Private Suite with King Bed and Private Half Bathroom.
The Lower Living area features a galley style service kitchen which opens up to a dining area, sitting room, and full bath.
The lower common areas lead one DIRECTLY into the large and beautifully landscaped lawn
The Property : The entire home was designed to be a true representation of Hawaii.
The Plantation style architecture celebrates Hawaii’s heritage of sugar and pineapple plantations; workers and land owners on the plantations would live in homes stylistically similar to ours.
The interior décor of our home reflects this tradition as well while providing modern convenience and comfort. Our furnishings are made of woods and materials traditionally found on the islands, Koa and Bamboo, and we strive to keep the feel of Hawaii throughout the house with tastefully chosen accessories.
Extras: EVERYTHING for your beach vacation is provided with the house- towels, chairs, bbq grill, loads of Beach Boys, and an outdoor shower with hot and cold running water.
*The sounds and views of the beach, ocean, and surf are always within range*
We are from colorful Colorado, where our family was all born and raised. When we first visited Hawaii we knew we had found another Paradise. Within 4 months of our first visit to Hawaii, we purchased this home. We have been selectively renting our home since then-2001.
We enjoy sharing this wonderful bit of Hawaii. It is such a beautiful place we cannot keep it only for ourselves. It is so much fun making new friends from around the world.
My daughter and I have jointly managed the property for about 7 years. Katherine has now developed an internet clothing boutique and is busy getting it going. I, Dan, do some property management at a small apartment building we own in town. We were originally farmers in northeastern Colorado/western Nebraska. In 1990 we moved to Denver and, if bragging, I say we did 'historic renovations'. No old mansions, mainly small houses, but 130-150 years old. We liked them modern inside and historic outside. We are currently restoring a 1947, single wall, plantation style, home in Kailua.
(Funny.....we live in Kailua Town, but when in Hawaii and you go to 'town', you are going to Honolulu.)
Dan purchased this house in 2000
We strive to make our home reflect all that is beautiful and pleasant about Hawaii. We want our guests to have a easy and memorable vacation. We think the magic of visiting Kailua on the Windward side of Oahu is the best possible choice for a holiday. Live in a home that arguably has the best location and views in Hawaii. The drive over the Pali Highway or H-3 is magical. The charm and comforts of Kailua town. There are many colorful shops but yet all the amenities of a big town. The restaurants are delicious, and you can enjoy different cuisine every night and not choose a favorite. Need we mention the amazing beach literally at your front door. Kailua Beach is ranked as one of the nations premier beaches and it is Hawaii's safest. It's 3 miles of pristine white sands and blue waters are best viewed from our home.
Possibly the best beach access, the best beach, the best accessorized home, in the best town in Hawaii.
We offer A Taste Of Hawaii----Last summer we hosted a family who was recommended to our home by a 'Hawaiian Kahuna' friend because 'this is the house that best represents what he wanted his vacationing mainland friends to experience in Hawaii'.
This vacation was to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary, accompanied by grown up children and grandchildren. It was the first time we ever rented a vacation home, but I seriously doubt if we could have chosen a better house or more genial host. Most of what I wanted to say has already been said by others, so will add that just taking in the scenery through the glass walls while relaxing comfortably in the upstairs living room of this beautiful plantation style home, or from its lanai, seemed to make all the cares of the world fade away. The house is right on the beach, unlike most others around the bay, which are set back some distance, so we had a grandstand view of the beach and ocean. Just imagine falling to sleep at night and then waking up in the morning to the sound of the crashing surf just feet away from your bedroom window, or slipping down to the beach, morning coffee in hand to enjoy the sunrise, or watching the grandkids play with the boogie boards and other toys in the clear aquamarine ocean water. Life doesn’t get any better! Dan couldn’t do enough for us. He made sure we had all we needed, yet remained completely unobtrusive.
We had a wonderful family vacation. Grandparents can sit on the veranda and read and watch/take pictures of kids and grand children enjoying the beach and the ocean. Good beds and furniture and the kitchen is very well equipped and stocked. Lots of beach/ocean and other toys and equipment. If you enjoy cooking and don't like the cost/hassle/long waits of eating out in Hawaii, go to Whole Foods up the street to shop or pick up something at the Deli. Dan was very attentive. We took side trips to the Polynesian Cultural Center, Dole Plantation, and the North Shore. Stop at Kua Aina for a great hamburger while at the North Shore and snorkel at Shark's Cove.
What a spectacular place to enjoy vacation in Hawaii! We started every morning out on the porch sitting in teak rockers and watched the endless waves and beach. Sunsets were awesome. Living room has two walls of windows. Beautiful kitchen, well stocked. Dan is a wonderful host. Very accommodating, friendly and full of suggestions to add to your adventure. He has everything you need from beach towels, first aid supplies, kites, water toys, outdoor shower, beautiful lawn, beach chairs, and umbrellas. You will never regret spending time in this oasis. A sign on top of a door said it best, 'Too much of a good thing is wonderful'! Enjoy! We hope to come again.
This was our first time renting a vacation rental by owner. I'm so glad we chose Dan's house. He's very nice, wonderful to work with, and promptly answers all questions -- and his home is wonderful!
If you plan to rent a house in Kailua, this might possibly be the best one. It's right on the beach. You can see the ocean from inside the house. His home is bright (with big windows) and feels very warm and homey. The house is well stocked. It has more things than he mentions in his description of his home. While on our vacation, we met someone else who was renting a house down the beach. They showed us their home and we showed them ours. We all agreed that Dan's house was far better, hands down, and now they plan to rent his house next time. There are many reasons his home is better. As mentioned earlier, it is well appointed and is enjoyable to be in. He also has almost everything you can imagine. The kitchen is stocked with lots of dishes. He has pots, pans, measuring cups, a mixer, knives, a rice cooker, a coffee pot etc... Anything I needed I was able to find and most of his items were better quality that what I have at my own home. There was also salt, pepper and other basic spices in the cabinet.
He has lots of towels, both regular and beach towels. There was shampoo, conditioner and a hair dryer as well as a first aid kit, sunscreen and other things. He had games, books and puzzles. In the garage, he had boogie boards, surf boards, kites, life jackets, sand toys, and some snorkel gear as well as two washers and dryers. Outside are 6 kayaks and beach chairs, He also had a croquet set and other games. I think one of the reasons he doesn't list everything he has (like snorkel gear and sunscreen etc.. ) is because he can't guarantee the person who rents before you won't lose, break or use it up. When we were there, we were able to put together 5 complete sets of snorkel gear. We bought one kids set at Walmart for around $6 so we'd have a set for all 6 of us.
I'm running out of room for my review, but want to add that there is a Whole Foods about 5 minutes from the home. There are also some very nice restaurants in Kailua. Our favorite was The Grove. You can also walk down the beach for about 10 minutes to get coffee and sandwiches at KALAPAWAI MARKET. You'll need to get directions from a local cuz you have to walk through a park and down the street a block.
We didn't want to leave and are already making plans to return.
I was able to take my grown daughter and son, their spouses, my first grand baby, and my son in laws family to this special home on the beach after the holidays. My goal was to rock on the porch with my grand daughter, swim everyday, never get in the car, and have time to cook and enjoy eatting at home with the entire family each evening. Most of those wishes came true...ok, I could walk to the Whole Foods, and did many times, but when I needed a fresh organic juice or some fruit or bagels quickly I did jump in the van. The house was super comfy, with nice things but not so nice we were afraid of living there for 8 days. We did all the puzzels in the house and were so happy looking out at the beautiful ocean as we chatted and relaxed. The beach "toys" were used with pleasure each day, stand up paddle boards, kyacks, boogie boards, lawn games, and umbrellas. We did bring our own wind tent for the baby. Two washer and dryers were very helpful as well. Dan was a good host, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Location location location, it does not get better than this! Thank you and looking forward to another visit in the future.
Being in the hotel business, I have seen many different accommodations in my life. This house was perfectly appointed for a perfect, relaxing, easy beach vacation. Dan graciously provides SUP, surf boards, kayaks, boogie boards, lawn games, books, board games. You don't need to rent or bring a thing! The house has a spectacular view and the most gracious wraparound porch in Kailua. There are copious beach towels, bath towels, paper towels, detergent, etc. (He even has a generous supply of chop sticks). It is so nice not to come to a rental house and have to completely outfit it before you can even think of walking on the beach. The house is also immaculately clean and the furnishings are comfortable and functional. There is everything you need to cook, as if you were home. I have rented other houses on Kailua Beach and was disappointed. Our expectations were exceeded here. It was everything the pictures show and then some.
Our home is on Kailua Beach. The front of the house is 41 feet from the beach, just steps across a perfectly manicured lawn to the 3 miles of Kailua Beach.
Kailua Town is a charming beach town with many great restaurants and great shopping. There are some particularity good upscale restaurants along with delicious casual dining. The area has many grocery and drug stores and other services to make your stay easy. There are four Farmers Markets each week, two only a few blocks away from home. We are uniquely located somewhat in the middle of Kailua Town, (Whole Foods is the nearest market, Macy's just a block further) but remote enough that you will not see or hear a car for the duration of your stay. Access to Kailua town (and to Honolulu) is easy, no more than two corners to turn.
There is always beach activities to watch or join. In addition to sunbathing and beach novels there is great boogie boarding, kayaking, windsurfing, kitesurfing, stand up paddling, and many other ocean sports to enjoy.
Surprisingly enough you will often have the beach to yourself. Kalama Beach is a mile in one direction, Kailua Beach Park a mile in the other. Most day beach goers end up at the beach parks--the area between sometimes seems unused.
Kailua is the perfect vacation spot, out of the hustle and bustle of Waikiki but a nice and comfortable community with amenities galore. Kailua Beach is known as a favorite among locals for its incredible beauty and peacefulness. We are just a 30 minute drive from many of the local tourist attractions like Pearl Harbor, but you will feel a world away while enjoying our home.

4th of July is an exciting time in Kailua. There are fireworks off Kailua Beach just out from the house. A small town 4th of July parade passes close by.
Fall is the best time to visit Hawaii. The summer heat is past yet the water retains the summer warmth. The winds and rains are less. Best of all, the tourists are fewer. Dan
