Photos and Description of the 5th Arrondissement Latin Quarter vacation apartment rental 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms sleeps 6

This is a charming three bedroom apartment in the Quartier Latin, near Pantheon, jardin du Luxembourg, rue Mouffetard, a vibrant area. Several buses and metro Censier-Daubenton lead everywhere in Paris: Louvre, Opera, Beaubourg, the Marais... 100 square meters, first floor with lift, 19th century building. There are fireplaces and large mirrors in living room and bedrooms, a Prussian oven in the dining room, hardwood floor. One side of the apartment overlooks a quiet courtyard with trees and a small garden (which is very rare in the heart of a 'stone-city' like Paris). There are two bedrooms with kingsize beds (that can be pulled apart in two separate beds), one bedroom with single mezzanine bed (and a work area below), dining room with an extra bed, living room, fitted modern kitchen, one bathroom (with tub), one shower room, separate WC.... It's a nice and peaceful place to stay.

Location: Paris < France

It's a very nice and friendly neighbourhood. Most of the people living in the building are good friends of ours. It's a very lively place, full of café and small restaurants that are open over the week end. A typically left bank atmosphere but not a posh one, more family like, many students around because of La Sorbonne and top French high schools. The rue Mouffetard (three minute walk) is a typical French street, very pictoresque, with its traditional outdoor fruit and vegetable markets, cheese shops and typical bakeries (with delicious cakes and breads) and groceries. Three time a week is a farmers’ market in Place Monge (five minutes walk) selling fresh products. The jardin du Luxembourg and the Jardin des Plantes are only 10 minutes walk, Saint-Germain des Prés, La Seine and Notre-Dame-de Paris are 15 minutes walk. Several buses are few steps from our door, subway Censier-Daubenton is five minute walk, subway Luxembourg 10 minutes maximum. It's a perfect place for visiting Paris

A Slice of Paris As Sweet As Her Pastries

grumpaman San Leandro, California, USA
Review Submitted: June 4, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
I have never enjoyed an area as much as this one. The owner's lovely daughter Juliette met us as scheduled, and everything was as we expected. We found the apartment clean and in good order and far more than enough room for the four of us. The floors were a bit old and squeaky, but at my age, so am I. The apartment and the Latin Quarter area around it grows on you, and after 3 days, I really didn't want to leave. The garden flowers were in bloom and very beautiful. Compared to California, Paris is a quiet oasis without the horrible boom-box car stereos that plague America. I was rattled back to reality as soon as we arrived home. So thank you for a little slice of French heaven; words cannot adequately convey the wonderful time that we had in your apartment and neighborhood. Please do try and stop by the Cafe La Bourgogne, it was most excellent, as were all of the pastry shops in your area. I think we stopped at every one of them. I would heartily recommend this property for seniors as everything is on one level: a definite plus! Thank you again for having us! If we are fortunate enough to return to Paris, this apartment will be my first choice for accommodations.

Refined and charming

Review Submitted: May 29, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
The apartment was perfect. The reviews are all true. I was looking initially in the Marais and has slightly worried about the location but it was great. The transport was easy, we used the 21 and 27 bus which pass along Claude Bernard mostly, but also used the underground. The buses in particular were easy to take the stroller on. As we had a restless toddler we didn't eat out, the closest pizza shop across the road towards luxembourg gardens did really good takeaway. We shopped for food in rue mouffetard mainly and just heated it up at home and made salads. The bread and the goats cheeses were a revelation. For us the little parks in the area with play equipment were great, as well as of course jardin des plantes and luxembourg gardens.
The apartment was very clean and easy to live in, it was obvious it was not just a rental but someone's home, it was set out in a way that was elegant and comfortable, with an understated taste. I really liked the plain quality of the cotton textiles, and the way the apartment was decorated in a way that was respectful to the building. The owner and her daughter very helpful and easy to deal with. The information in the apartment about the area was well considered.
The tourist highlights for us were Rodin and Balzac's houses and the de Chirico and Calder exhibitions. In the decorative arts museum, Jeanne Lanvin's bathroom was amazing, so excessive. Our son loved the carousel and pony cart ride at the Tuileries gardens and the big rocks at Jardin des plantes.

I felt exceptionally lucky to have found this charming apartment for my family's stay in Paris this March break. The apartment was roomy enough for 5 people, very well equipped and literally steps from rue Mouffetard (a bustling cobblestone street where I could buy fresh croissants every morning, and excellent fish, meat, fruit (and of course cheese!)to prepare meals in the apartment (we did not want to eat out for every meal, and the experience of shopping locally and feeling like we "lived" in Paris was important to us). The apartment felt very much like "home" for the week, and the location was excellent. The owner (Michele) and her daughter (Juliette) were warm and professional. I unhesitatingly recommend this apartment for those who want to feel less like "tourists" in Paris, and more like they are really living there (if only for a short time...!).

We stayed here over Xmas 2008, my wife and teenage children, great location, proximity to the Rue Mouffretard for great food, easy access to Metro, and not too touristy like round the Ile de la Cite, can highly recommend this as a great place to stay
