Wonderful Location

We had a wonderful week at this property during the Spring of 2010. The locatiion made it so easy for us to enjoy both city activities as well as many outdoor activities right out the front door. We loved the beach, Golden Gate park, and the Land's End trail - all just out the door or within blocks. Golden Gate park was great for tennis, golf and a beautiful run. The zoo was even closer and the property came with a family pass. Getting to the heart of the city was very easy on the Muni train.

The home itself was well stocked and parking was easy. We were traveling with teens who also loved the location because of it's ease. I would recommed this property to families who would like a mix of outdoor/urban acitvity.

A family break

We went here for a family holiday with our 4 year old and it was just a wonderful place to stay for our visit to San Francisco. The flat was clean, so spacious, with comfy beds and full of light. The location was perfect - for getting around by car it was ideal but also for going downtown with the MUNI system. The Golden Gate Park was a five minute drive away and this area in itself provided many days entertainment with all the museums (one of which Jacob provided guest passess for which was great as the entry is rather expensive) and gardens and other recreational areas its has to offer, not to mention the nearby scenic drive/views of the Golden Gate Bridge. Similarly, for downtown visits without a car it proved easy; we went downtown various times and for this it was jsut a short walk to the tram stop round the corner and then a twenty min or so ride to Powell station; the line continued on to Embarcadero. While in the flat there was a good selection of dvds and blue ray and family games or younger childrens games. The ocean is literally across the highway (2 roads really though just seem to have one name) and over the sand dunes and its roar could be heard which we enjoyed. The zoo too is a couple blocks away and Jacob again provided passes which were a great benefit. The supermarkets and laundromat were all closeby, certainly in the car. The price was probably the best we could find and it definately proved its worth. Jacob was always helpful and polite. We hope to go to San Francisco again one day - and have no doubt this is where we would like to stay again.

An actually relaxing vacation

The location of this property is really great. It's only a couple blocks from the L train station, which goes directly to Market Street or the Embarcadero, if you're going to sight-see. Cab fare from the ferry building was about $35 without tip, but taking the L train would have been $1.50 per person over the age of 5. It's on the other side of SF from those things, but the opportunity to take public transportation and see the locals was fun. The beach is a quick walk across a couple of roads, and has extremely fine, soft sand, and lots of sand dollars for collecting. We saw some really amazing sunsets from our window at dinnertime, so all our busy sight-seeing days were capped off with a beautiful scene!

The apartment itself is a short flight of stairs up from the ground level. It was extremely clean and had everything we could possibly need. We had just come from another rental in Southern California which was lacking a lot of useful things. There was plenty of toilet paper and paper towels, and disposing of trash was easy (not the case in the other rental). There were plentiful fluffy white towels. I really appreciated the quality of the kitchen wares -- no peeling teflon for once (the case at almost every other place I've stayed). The bedrooms were spacious, and the beds both very, very comfortable.

My husband and I had a great time watching Netflix Instant View movies on the Roku device with the large LCD television after the kids went to bed -- a comfort we usually have at home, but even more enjoyable on vacation.

My kids wholeheartedly enjoyed the various board games!!

The neighbors were very friendly (actually, the whole city was full of friendly people wanting to strike up a conversation).

The closest proper grocery stores are Safeway (east of 19th avenue) an organic store (on 40-somethingth and the N-line), and Trader Joe's (Stonestown Galleria). We made a nice treck to Trader Joe's and Borders on the day we took off from sightseeing.

If you don't have a high-tech cell phone with internet access, I'd very highly recommend getting a laminated map of San Francisco, and bring a laptop to help plan out your day ahead of time.

We had such an awesome trip to San Francisco -- I felt so relaxed when I reached home, despite staying there for 7 days with a 4 and an 8 year old! Thank you, Jacob!

Owner's Response: It is always deeply satisfying when guests at the property really enjoy what you offer them. We strive to provide very good quality at reasonable prices and want our guests to enjoy themselves, the amenities and the furnishings. We have given much thought to what our guests--families with children, adults, retirees--will enjoy

We are especially pleased that our guests enjoyed the Netflix instant view we recently subscribed to. and that the children loved the games we bought.

These guests used public transport entirely during their stay.

I want to mention that there is a Trader Joe's and a Safeway that are both closer to the property than the ones the guests chose to visit.
The large Safeway is on La Playa between Fulton and Cabrillo and the Trader Joe's at 3 Masonic Avenue near Geary.

Great Place to Stay

We loved our San Francisco vacation and are happy we chose to stay in the Sunset House. The ocean (right across the street) was the highlight of our trip. We spent time everyday on the beach - walking, jogging, collecting, flying kites, just hanging out together. After full days of sight seeing, we'd come back to our home away from home and relax. The apartment was spacious, comfortable, clean, with lots of natural light and just right for our family. The kitchen had everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well. There was a nice selection of games and movies in addition to internet access. Jacob was very courteous, helpful and easy to work with.

We stayed at this property for a girls getaway weekend and loved it! Beautiful location right across from the beach, plenty of parking and close to public transportation. The SF Zoo is a few blocks away and the Golden Gate Park is a 5 minute drive. The two bedroom unit was sparkling clean, with comfortable beds and bedding, plenty of towels and a fully equipped kitchen. The owner had asked if we would like any particular movies and had them for us when we arrived. Jacob was very communicative and always promptly answered emails and phone calls. It is a nice quiet residential neighborhood. We will probably return for another stay!
