"BIG" FAMILY HAD A "BIG" TIME IN "BIG CANOE" GEORGIA!

"Big" Family had a "Big" time in "Big Canoe" Georgia!
  • 5 of 5
What a wonderful place, and a wonderful experience we had at Big Canoe, GA! We were so pleased with the spacious home, and all of its ammenities. Our large family (18 total), from different areas were able to re-unite at Jeff and Patti's home, and there was enough room for us all to enjoy our stay to its fullest. We love to cook, and the kitchen provided a fantastic opportunity for this, as well as the convenient IGA grocery store just minutes away. The large dining area/table was a wonderful set up for us to enjoy our large family dinners. The five bedrooms are set up wonderfully so we could all have our 'space'. The two 'extra large' family rooms were fantastic for everyone to spend quality time together as well. The location of this house is right on the lake, and the view from the deck was relaxing and peaceful. We are not sure who enjoyed it more, our family or our golden retriever! Nearly each and everyone of us jumped in the canoe and enjoyed a cruise on the beautiful scenic lake at least once. (Some were masters at it, and other's didn't make it past the cove without tipping!) The house is BIG; it is a quality home, with quality furnishings and honestly, we could not have asked for more. Big Canoe is a fantastic community and we plan to return again soon, for a 4th trip to the area. The marina, (rental of the pontoons and fishing), the swimming pools, golf course, fitness center, hiking and jeep trails, and local restaurants, local kayaking and Atlanta Motorsports, are all areas we visited. We would definately recomend any large family to stay in this accomodating home, as we know it would be an enjoyable stay for all!

Owner's Response: Jody, it was such a pleasure having your family at our home especially knowing that everyone had such a good time. I designed that home with a family's ability to all get together or become secluded in one of the bedrooms. Please come and stay with us again.
Thanks,
Jeff

GREAT PLACE FOR OUR VERY FIRST ADULT FAMILY VACATION

  • 5 of 5
One of the hardest things to find when searching for a vacation home is finding one that could accommodate our large group of 17 family members. Jeff's home was not only large enough, but is layed out in a way that provided ample room for everyone to have their own space. The home was also very nicely stocked with all the amenities you could possibly need for your stay. I have never seen a rental with as much cookware, service ware, and small kitchen appliances as was stocked in the kitchen. You don't need to bring a thing for any any meal you may want to prepare.
One of the best things with Jeff's home is it has it's own private cove where you can easily launch a canoe or even bring our little bass hunter with trolling motor, in and out of so the family could take turns getting on the water to fish. You do have to purchase fishing permits from the marina. And fish we did, catching so many in the first few days that we had a big fish fry on Wednesday night. We did have to pull the little boat out of the water each night, but it wasn't that hard as there is a boat launch area very close to the house. You can also use the Marina, which is little further. Great views from the top deck, where we spent a lot of time.
Some great trails to hike.
There is a pool with a rock slide and the Big Canoe offers a fitness center, tennis, and golf, but these things carry extra charges by the community.
Jeff was so easy to work with, and he is very prompt in answering any calls or e-mail.

WONDERFUL STAY IN GEORGIA MOUNTAINS

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I planned this trip to the mountains to escape the Florida heat and spend some time with our daughter, son-in-law and our two pre-school grandsons. House was really wonderful and exceeded our expectations.

Lots of room for us to spread out yet lots of together time in the great room and on the wonderful deck. The view was unbelivable.

The house is very well equipped, clean, nicely furnished and extremely comfortable.

Our grandsons loved the kiddie pool at wolfscratch - actully we all enjoyed just lazing under the water spouts. My husband played golf and loved the courses. Our son-in-law taught the 4 year old how to fish - well, how to hold the rod - they were not successful (possibly due to 4 year old chatter!). My daughter and I took advantage of the fitness center and we all really enjoyed a hike to the Lower Falls. We saw lots of deer all around the house. A humming bird almost joined us for lunch - hovering over the table. After the kids left, my husband and I enjoyed a really nice dinner at the Appalachia Grill - just outside the north gate.

The pictures and the listing information were spot on - no unpleasant surprizes. We would definitely recommend the house.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your very kind words and know that your pleasant stay just warms our heart. There is something very special about Big Canoe and what it does to bring families closer together. I guess it just forces us to slow down, be immersed in the natural beauty of the lake and the mountains, and realize just how fortunate we all are to have our families together for a time.

It was a pleasure having your family stay in our home. Please come again soon.

GREAT FOR A LARGE PARTY

  • 5 of 5
We had a large party (family reunion) and everyone loved the house. The House was well furnished and supplied, the owners made check in/check out, extremely easy. Great view of the lake and lots of amenities/activities. We took all the kids on a great hike on the trails and never actually left big canoe. We highly recommend.

ANOTHER WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING IN BIG CANOE

  • 5 of 5
This year we stayed on the lake and it was beautiful and serene. At the property owner's suggestion, we look the lower falls hike which was fabulous. We also spent time at the playground which has ball fields and a basketball court. The listing description is accurate. This house is stocked with everything you need to prepare a full Thanksgiving dinner. The views are spectacular. There were 7 adults and 2 children. Plenty of room for all of us. The house is clean and beds are comfortable. I wouldn't recommend the sofa beds to anyone, but children -- but all of the beds in the bedrooms were fine. Very happy with our choice!
