Recently renovated and squeaky clean, the cottage is set in a quiet, well cared for neighborhood on the Northern point of Plum Island. Very close to the beaches and other great attractions. Plum Island is a wonderful vacation spot for couples and families! The 9 miles stretch of beach is one of the most beautiful in the country. On Plum Island itself, there are fishing, harbor, and whale watching expeditions; the Parker River Wildlife Refuge (bird watching, beaching - Sandy Point at the very end is a MUST); the Plum Island Grille (dinner/drinks- this is one of our all-time favorite places); Mad Martha's Beach Cafe (breakfast/lunch); and a convenience and package store. The Plum Island Airport, on the causeway leading to the Island, provides aerial plane tours. Newburyport is only 3.5 miles away, where there are quaint shops, art galleries, outdoor concerts, live theatre, many restaurants, ample activities and special summer events. Great day trips include Boston, Gloucester, Rockport or historic Portsmouth, NH. There's something for everyone!

First Family Vacation

When we walked into this bright clean cottage we knew it was a good start to our first family vacation. The air was fresh the furnishings were pleasantly sparse and all the basics we needed were in place and thus we needed only unpack and enjoy. The close proximity to both the basin beach and the ocean beach made it easy to enjoy both with a 11 month old in tow and the short drive to the beaches on the other end of the island was well worth the trip (thanks for the suggestion Stephanie!). We ventured into town more than once and were able to enjoy different restaurants (pizza at Oregano was great and a family meal at the Grog was good too), sample local ice cream and gelato and simply wander about charming 'downtown' Newburyport. Back to the cottage to relax we faced only a few babyproofing challenges (the fact that a 'pack & play' was provided was a big bonus! - one less item to fit in the trunk) and our daughter seemed to really enjoy spending time there as well as on the beach. It is a great place for new families. We have already recommended Plumb Island to family and friends and just passed on the link to this cottage to a neighbor considering an early fall get away (touting sand toys included!). We are already thinking about future vacations and both Plumb Island and this cottage are strong possibilities.

what an amazing 5 day stay!

I would recommend this property to anyone, very accomodating landlady, spent my vacation with my boyfriend and we had the greatest time! Very romantic, very close to the beach, perfect size we could have easily invited another couple and we may do that next year!!
It really does overlook the bay, and the restaurants are amazing! I will be back!

Beautiful Home - Wonderful Owners

The home was lovely, immaculately kept, and Stepahnie and her husband provide everything you need in the kitchen and bathroom, except food and shampoo of course. Realy everything! I wasn't sure so I brought stuff but it wasn't neccessary. Even the towels were thick and fluffy, and what an amazing shower. They thought of everything. The neighborhood is quiet the neighbors pleasant and friendly. The beach was great, Bob's Lobster is a must as is Clipper Feet Deep Sea Fishing. That was amazing! Cooked them that night on the propane grill provided. Propane also provided. We weren't sure and this was a great surprise! We grill a lot. This is a super cottage, with the very nicest of owners, I don't see how we could have chosen better. The owners leave material on the table with numbers and places and maps of things to do and how to get there. There is cell service. I would definately rent this cottage again from Stephanie and her husband they just want to ensure you enjoy your stay, are courteous of your privacy, and thoughtful that you have a good time. There is TV and I would recommend bringing your own DVD's as there are not many channels, but why should they pay for a service that few will enjoy, that was not a problem at all, we were there to enjoy not watch tv which anyone can do at home. They even provided Monopoly which I won my son for the first time. That lone made the trip worth it! Anyone renting this lovely cottage from these nicest of people would not be dissapointed. We didn't make it to the refuge, we are saving that for the next time. Thank you again to both of them! and HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACK! Cheryl
