This beautiful Nantucket beach cottage (really a house) is just a 5 minute walk from the beach, a perfect fit for families with kids who might want to do several short trips to the beach each day rather than one long day. The Surfside area has Nantucket's most beautiful and swimmable beaches, and if you prefer a life guarded beach the Town Beach is only a short drive away. The house has natural knotty pine walls and ceilings and beautiful views of the water and Nantucket Island. 2009 updates include completely refinished floors, all new linens, dishes, glasses and silverware and a new over-the-stove microwave.

Notes: Everything you need is provided for you, just bring your bathing suits and sun-tan lotion. The Stop-n-Shop grocery store on the island is one of the largest in the world, is open 24 hours a day during summer and carries every possible ingredient and fresh food you could dream of combining into that special dish you've always wanted to make but just never had the time. Beach chairs and beach towels are provided. We have a good selection of games and books in the house, and we encourage you to rotate the library by taking some of ours and leaving some of yours for others to read. There are combination DVD/VCR players and a single TV in the house, with cable service and wireless Internet access if you want to bring a laptop to check email.

My girlfriend and I stayed there from Jun 27th to July 4th and had an amazing time. The property is only a 5 minute walk from the beach. They all your beach necessities (chairs, towels, games) so there is no need to bring anything from home. The house was very clean when we got there and had a deck on the 2nd floor with a bbq grill on it with some chairs and a table. It's a long walk into town (40 min) or a cheap cab ride. Overall, this secluded home was exactly what i needed for some rest and relaxtion, especially coming from NYC.

My wife and two U-12 boys rented this property the last week of July, 2009. We found the rental via the web, and the owner was very responsive and personable. Better yet, we found the property to be everything it was promised to be.

We have spent five previous summer weeks on Nantucket. The charm and relaxation of the place, which begins the moment you board the ferry, speaks for itself to anyone who has been there.

Our Nantucket Rental requirements are straight-forward. We want to be walking distance to a beach with surf, clean (no gubs), affordable, with an outdoor shower, washer and dryer, and privacy. This place hit on every point.

The house is at the end of a private drive with a large private yard. Our boys could ride their bikes to the beach in under two minutes while we lagged behind in five, and the traffic and pace of the location allowed us to feel comfortable with that separation.

The upside-down house has an open second floor, and this is where you will spend all your time indoors. The balcony has sound and ocean views, with a gas-grill to cook any fish you catch. Our boys loved sleeping in the steep-ladder-climb up loft with it's tree-house effect.

The house comes with six good-quality adult bicyles, simple beach chairs, and nice beach towels, which cuts down on packing. The kitchen is no-frills, with an electric stove, linoleum counter-top, and dishwasher, but it gets the job done, and anyone with kids appreciates eating-in most nights when you're away for a week.

Town and shopping are a short drive or bike-ride away, even for the kids.

In short, this property had everything we were loooking for, and nothing we were'nt. We will be back.

Rent something - anything - other than this house.

Summer 2008. We were extremely disappointed with this property. It lacks many of the basics and what is there is very poor quality and lacks even basic maintenance.
Owner's Response: Our other reviews have been very positive, so I am surprised that this review appeared almost a year after the rental. However, as it happens over this past winter we have replaced all linens, towels, dishes and silverware, the beds have new comforters and all floors have been sanded and refinished. All of our renters so far this year have been extremely happy, and the location remains fantastic for families with kids.

Nice Surfside beach house. Property was clean, private location, close to Nobadeer beach. Convenient for families with children and teens. We have three children, plenty of room for our family. (Loft has ample space for an older child.) The kitchen has a large island great for family dining, gathering, games. Exactly what we wanted from our Nantucket rental. Owner was a pleasure to work with.
