Hillside Haven Guest Suite is located in beautiful Auke Bay Alaska. We are located 1/8 of a mile past the Alaska Marine Highway Ferry Dock on a secluded piece of property just steps from Auke Nu Cove, a perfect place to launch your kayak adventure, and backed by Tongass National Forest where the hiking opportunities are limitless.
Auke Bay is a great place to start your fishing day for halibut and salmon or if you prefer, a whale watching tour to watch feeding Humpback or Orca whales. Watch eagles soar over the cove or perched up in a tree from outside your window, deer eating new green shoots of grass in the spring, or the occasional black bear patrolling the area in the fall all from your front deck. Our newly built accommodation is peaceful and private with plenty of room to relax and take in the beauty of a true Alaskan experience.
Come enjoy the Alaska that is waiting for you outside your front door.

We have lived in different areas of Alaska for the past 12 years, recently we moved from Juneau to a remote king salmon hatchery on South Baranof Island. We enjoy all the outdoor activities it has to offer.
Theresa Abbas purchased this cabin in 2008
We built this vacation rental in this area so others could experience the quite peaceful and beautiful surrounds that we see every day.
Hillside Haven Guest Suite offers a relaxing get away in the Auke Bay area of Juneau. It has an enclosed steam shower with a two person whirlpool tub, full kitchen, an amazing view of Auke Nu Cove, a huge bedroom and radiant in floor heat. We are close enough that you can walk to the Alaska Marine Highway Terminal or Auke Bay recreational area. The suite is in a separate building with your own private entrance.
Thanks so much for sharing this haven with us. Phil and I have had a delightful time in Juneau - kayaking, hiking, ziplining, fishing (no luck) and, yes, a little shopping. Weve told everyone what a great place we've been staying. Best wishes for your children and each of you.
we had excellent stay.very comfortable, clean rental.owner and caretaker were very friendly and helpful.would highly recommend staying here.
I was initially concerned when I learned the host lived far away but we had a fantastic stay. The host responded quickly to our questions ahead of time and the place was very clean, elegant, and convenient. Not too close to town, and not too far away. I have to say, the photos posted don't do this place justice. We stayed for the first 3 nights of our honeymoon and wished it would have been available longer. You won't be disappointed.
My husband and two daughters (23 and 12) spent part of the last week in this lovely little home.
As the other reviewers have mentioned it is comfortable and clean and so QUIET. The only sounds we heard were birds, a babbling stream and a boat horn once each morning.
There is something very...Zen-like about this home.
Also, we were in the apartment for all of 5 minutes when we looked down from the large living room window and saw a mama bear with twin cubs.
Talk about a photo opportunity!
Not to worry. We didn't see a bear again during our stay.
The kitchen is fully equipped and we did use the washer & dryer to do one load which was an added bonus for a family of four.
I have recommended the property for families with young children, however, an inside latch on the door would provide toddlers with additional safety since the apartment is above the garage and the wood stairs are often wet and of course...bears.
We highly recommend this pretty little oasis in the woods and would love to stay again.
My husband and I just spent our honeymoon at this beautiful little spot in Juneau. We were so thrilled when we drove up to the place, absolutely gorgeous inside and out. We felt so at home and comfortable. The furnishings were lovely and everything was very clean and comfortable. The steam/shower/whirlpool was the best part of this great little apartment. We've decided that we'll need one in our next house :)
The rental is 13 miles away from downtown Juneau and we found that to be a major plus. Downtown is busy and crowded and it was nice to go home to a nice quiet spot on the bay. The only noise there was an occasional ferry horn.
We feel we absolutely lucked out with this place. We can't wait until we have the chance to go back!
The suite was everything that the owners said it would be. The property is easy to find and the location is excellent. The on site property managers were very helpful and friendly. It is a great place to spend some time.
Our family (2 adults, 2 kids) had a wonderful stay here. This property is beautiful inside and out. The pictures don't lie. I would highly recommend it. The bed is very comfortable, and the kids were fine on the futon. The kitchen had everything we needed. Everything was spotless. I never could figure out how to work the steam shower, but we were happy with the "regular" setting. It's very near the ferry terminal, which was convenient for our early morning departure, but it's tucked away in trees so you don't see the dock. I loved being away from the cruise ship crowds. We took a walk downtown and couldn't get out of there fast enough. Our recommendations: The Island Pub on Douglas Island, the Silverbow Bakery and the Hot Bite were great. I wish we had gone to Tracy's Crab Shack instead of the Twisted Fish. Whale watching with Orca Enterprises was unbelievable -- we saw humpbacks bubble netting twice and orcas chasing down a sea lion! The East Glacier hike at Mendenhall was lovely but a bit strenuous for me. The kids (ages 7 and 10) did fine. Start from behind the Visitors Center; you will climb up on switchbacks, whereas if you start in the other direction, you climb straight up a lot of stairs at one time. We did a hokey gold panning tour with Best of Alaska, but the kids liked it. And it was interesting to see how hard the Gold Rush prospectors had to work for very little pay off. We absolutely loved Southeast Alaska!
