RIVER-NOOK STUNNING, PRIVATE RIVERFRONT HEALDSBURG

It was so much fun to watch the kayakers and canoers passing by.... We enjoyed preparing our meals in the kitchen and on the barbecue and eating on the beautiful deck. We took out the canoe and went upriver and picnicked in serene solitude. It was better than any nature show as we watched while large groups of carp were spawning right in front of us. The location worked well for us as we enjoyed wine tasting on Dry Creek Road and visiting the nearby Healdsburg Square. The apartment suited our needs perfectly and even had DVDs and games. Our family had a great time.

A friend & I rented this house which was convenient to our activities but honestly we were very disappointed. The pictures were nice but didn't completely describe the property. There were a few things that had been omitted. For instance, the ad indicated the twin beds in the 2nd room could be put together but that was not really possible because the bedroom door bangs into the bed and blocks it from opening all the way. My friend could barely carry her suitcase thru the opening and bumped her head on the door one nite when getting up to use the bathroom. She had to sleep in a twin bed which was too small for her. There is also no closet or hooks to hang your clothes in that room. The house is on a main road with no shoulder and you have to quickly jump out and unlock the gate and shut it each time you arrived & left which was kind of a pain especially at night. That really bothered me as it was dangerous. We passed the house a few times as there is not distinguishing lights or anything. Felt bad having calling late at nite to have the mother-in-law who lives in the top apartment open the gate although she was a sweetie. We also weren't suppose to put any toilet paper in the toilet and had to put it in a trashcan because of the septic system. That really bother my friend. The shower was very dark inside because the shower door wasn't clear although they did have a nice shower head which surprised us for it is an older home with aluminum cupboards and spices for use that had expired in 2009... The only nice part was the deck as it is quiet & relaxing but I would rent another place or stay at a hotel next time for the cost was too high for the inconveniences. There were also no clear directions on how to use the 3 remote controls to access the Direct TV so we only got 3 channels. I have rented several times from VRBO and this is the first one that didn't work out.

My family stayed here for a long weekend in March and had a fantastic time. We enjoyed bird watching and saw blue herons, egrets, osprey, turkey vultures, and wild ducks. We also enjoyed seeing many fish jumping in the river. The private beach at the riverfront was awesome! This was an unseasonably warm weekend and we even enjoyed taking out the canoe. The apartment was very comfortable and met all of our needs for cooking and entertainment. Our family will be back to swim in the summer!
