I am an Engineer by profession and I very much enjoy the outdoors with a fondness for the water. I pretty much enjoy any activities at all if they are in, on, above, or any where near the water like boating, swimming, sailing, fishing, and diving. I like spending quality time up north with my family and friends and I purchased the units here for exactly that purpose.
I discovered this property through a friend of mine. Her uncle was one of the original owners of this property when it was operating as a marina (1 of 2 on this lake). When the property was being developed I came to the sales office to see the place and I pretty much fell in love with it instantly.
The property is setup as a townhouse condominium complex. This means that i do not need to worry about things like landscaping, snow removal and other outdoor maintenance issues. It makes ownership worry free and it makes coming to the unit(s) easy and worry free for myself and my guests.
I am very social fellow and I wanted a place where I could bring my family and friends for some quality time on the lake and this place seemed just perfect. The units are a bit small being only 2 bedroom but they were very reasonably priced and so I decided to buy one and check it out. I put my jet boat in the water, the canoe and kayaks onto the storage rack and my fishing boat in an extra slip.
I had a great time for my first summer and decided it was perfect. I then bought 2 more units over a period of time so I could handle larger gatherings of my friends. When I do not use them myself I rent them out so others may enjoy this beautiful area and entertain their friends as well.
This property is very unique. Most cottages on the lake are stand alone places that are very secluded. These units are part of a very small community so they are private but not so isolated that there is no one around. The community is small and ideal for young children. The property is surrounded by water on 3 out of 4 sides. It is on a 4 acre lot that includes a beach, boat launch, swim dock, marina dock, gazebo, fire pit and ample professionally groomed lawns.
The community is made up of 25 units and most of these units are owned by families that come up with their children and their friends so it is a very pleasant and fun social atmosphere. This complex is not for those that wish seclusion and absolute privacy!
The property is located in the national park called the Kawartha Heighlands. Situated along the southern edge of the Canadian Shield, this relatively undeveloped area features a rugged rolling landscape of small lakes, wetlands, forests and rocky barrens. Head north on Highway 28 look for the Lockside Trading Company for a very unique shopping experience or check out Burleigh Falls. As you get closer to Anstruther Lake you will see a cut off for Lakefield. Also in the area you will find; Petroglyphs, Warsaw Caves, Golf Clubs, Several Marinas, Art Gallaries, and the Blackfly Summer Theatre. Or just stay by the lake and swim, boat, fish, water ski, or hike!
Other Activities: kayaking, boating, snowmobiling, wildlife viewing,
Golf: The Marvel Rapids Golf Course has a winding creek, numerous bunkers, and flowing meadowlands making it a very scenic and inviting course to play. The Owenbrook Golf and Country Club is a nine hole course on small fast greens. It features hilly terrain and the occasional water trap and it is located just east of Apsley.
