Great family vacation home

We had a very relaxing time with family here. The house fit 6 to 8 people comfortably and had lots of room to play and relax - the great room and deck were perfect. The small waterfront beach was easy to walk to and shallow enough for the kids to swim in. We also rented kayaks and had a great time paddling around the lake which is pretty big. The scenery is very nice.
The picture of the sandy beach with chairs is misleading however, as that is private property and luckily we were warned by the very nice neighbors that the owner was extremely mean. Most of the neighbors were extremely nice and we hung out with them and their kids while we were there.
The house is renovated from a smaller cottage and because of that the stairs are all very steep and not really safe for very young kids (3 and under) or elderly adults.
We found the location convenient to lots of parks and lakes and about half the time we chose to drive in to Portland or surrounding coastal areas - this took about 30 to 40 min.
Overall, we had a great time and felt very comfortable here but given the price we probably wouldn't rent it just for the four of us again. It would definitely be worth it to split with another family though.
Owner's Response: The picture of the sandy beach is NOT private property as a past renter states-it is taken on the shared beach which you have access to. There were no boats on the dock when the picture was taken and we no longer have the chairs in the picture which is why the renter may have mistakenly thought it was somone else's property. There are no extremely mean neighbors and I think that it is unfair to say that about anyone you never met, and yes, there are many very nice neighbors. The stairs are small and a little steep but there are not many of them and we have all appropriate hand rails. There is a master bedroom and bath on the main floor if you have elderly people or little kids with you, you can assign bedrooms appropriately. We will be happy to answer any questions or send extra pictures if anything is of particular interest.
