GREAT BASS FISHING!!:
NORTH SANDY POND is located in the heart of Upstate New York's beautiful Lake Ontario's Recreational Center! North and South Sandy Pond are located four miles west of the town of Sandy Creek in Oswego County. North Sandy Pond is basically a large bay off from Lake Ontario. The ponds are separated from Lake Ontario by the Sandy Pond Beach Natural Area, a unique barrier beach system consisting of a sand beach, dunes and wetlands. Gamefish include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, walleye and northern pike. Panfish include yellow perch, bluegill, pumpkinseed sunfish, black crappie, white perch and bullhead. Carp are also found in the ponds. Little Sandy Creek flows into North Sandy Pond and receives a fall run of Chinook salmon and a spring run of steelhead. These fish must pass through the pond to get to the stream, so they can be caught in the pond on occasion. Main forage fish for the ponds are young of the year yellow perch and golden shiner. N. Sandy Pond is a very popular for bass!
THE ELMS GOLF COURSE - WALKING DISTANCE:
-- A Top 10 Public Course in Metro Syracuse & CNY
The Elms Golf Club is one of the finest public, 18-hole courses you'll find in metro Syracuse and Central New York. Play this course from the tips and you'll be challenged by its many changes in elevation, doglegs, water hazards and wooded surroundings. My favorite hole on the front was #8, a dogleg left par 4 with a drive over a creek with a tree-lined fairway down the entire left side that block any approach shot that isn't far enough or straight enough to clear the corner. My favorite hole on the back nine was #13, a dogleg right, par 4 wherein the approach shot is over a small ravine...no running the ball up onto this green. Another challenging hole on the back was #17--the club's signature hole. With the exception of the distance between holes 12-13 and 17-18, the course is easily walkable and enjoyable. Play is at a nice pace. The course is a bargin for its price, very open and forgiving! WALKING DISTANCE FROM OUR COTTAGE!!!!!
