We are a college professor and a psychotherapist; our principal residence is in central New Jersey.
The house is our family's vacation home, which we rent out when we're not using it ourselves. We intend to retire there in a few years, so we take care to maintain it and improve upon it.
David Stone purchased this house in 2004
We chose this property because it is situated beautifully on a dead-end road with conserved areas all around. The house is surrounded by lawns and woods; we see song birds, deer, and occasionally turkeys or a fox; but no other houses.
On the other hand, we are not far from the cultural and shopping opportunities of New Paltz, Kingston and even Woodstock.
Our house is very quiet and peaceful, a great place to unwind or to concentrate on creative work (for which cable internet access can be advantageous). We love the deck, which looks out on lawns and woods with a vista of a mountain; and we can also grill and dine there. Indoors, the cathedral ceiling and open living spaces provide excellent acoustics, and the fireplace offers a cozy area for conversation, listening to music and reading.
We also like to walk in the woods, and our house is an excellent location for activities such as hiking and bird-watching.
