La Jolla Vacation Rental cottage

The location is the nicest feature of this little cottage - it's really in the best part of La Jolla if you are there to kick up your feet. The La Jolla Shores village is an idyllic place with some of the best restaurants in San Diego, and it is nicely out of the way of traffic and close enough to the most popular beach in San Diego that you just grab your boogie board and sandals and skip on down for a quick dip.

If you prefer a bit more of the fast life, La Jolla village is just a short drive away with even more great restaurants and excellent shopping.

The property itself is a bit older, but much of the interior has been renovated and is very comfortable. It has all the amenities you need, including a full kitchen and laundry (which is essential for cleaning up after the beach). My wife and I really appreciated the new memory foam bed, and there is a spring mattress in the second bedroom. The unit did not include air conditioning, but there are plenty of fans provided and the windows all provide great airflow.

A tip about travelling to San Diego - go in the fall when it is less busy and the weather is sunny and mild.

Don't miss the "birthday cake" ice cream at Jeff's, and the tortellini is to die for at Osteria Romantica. Kayaking out to the caves and sea lions is a lot of fun, but heed the warnings that you will get wet! Also, there are fire pits on the beach which are perfect for making smores at night.

Very clean cottage with great access to the beach and park. Stayed three weeks. Restaruants and groceries available within a block of the cottage. Private fenced patio ideal for pets and privacy. San Diego bus service available a short distance from the cottage for those without a car. Quiet area with off street parking for security of our vehicle. Great place to stay would recommend to friends.

Beachcomber 2 is a very clean, little cottage in a great, quiet location. It is very close to the beach, it only takes 2-3 minutes to walk there. (It is much closer than it looks on Googlemaps). The house sits in a residential area that is one block over from a short strip of 10 or more restaurants, 3 bike/kayak/surf shops, a grocery store, convenience store & some beach shops. That is the only commercial strip in the area, so it is very quiet. There is a Starbucks/Subway about 3 blocks away on the road coming in from I-5. We drove to the old downtown area of La Jolla several times, it only takes 3 or 4 minutes to get there. That area has blocks of shopping and restaurants and is a lot of fun to visit, but was too busy for us, so we liked coming back to our quiet little spot. The house was very clean and basic, it had everything we needed. The living room is small, but the french doors open up onto the patio, so that makes it seem larger.
