Weekly vactional rental as of 6/2013, $1000-1400/w depending on week

Private lakefront home is 40 miles to Boston, with 300' on lake, a dock, and boat ramp. The house is on a point of land offering lovely views from the two decks and a screened porch of the lake. The 1st floor BR has a comfortabe double bed and the large 2nd floor BR has 3 twin beds. In the den there is FP, HD TV, DVD and internet access. 40’ in front of the porch is a dock with water depth of about 9 feet at the end, great for swimming, fishing and boating. In addition, there is a small gravel “beach” area, with a gradual slope, great for young children plus there is a boat ramp on the property for your convenience.

Being at the end of a dead end road, we have a great feeling of privacy with 2.7 acres with 300' on North Pond. Abutting the property is a 500 ac Peppercorn Hill conservation area with many walking trails. The lakes surface is about 234 acres which is an average of 9 feet deep feet. We see an abundance of birds: including many ducks, a Great Blue Heron, swans + Eagle.

We just got back home in Illinois last night and miss the house on the pond already. It is a beautiful lot you have there, on what is probably the prettiest part of the lake. We had a great time exploring the lake by canoe, hiking the trails on Peppercorn Hill and swimming off the dock. I was really surprised at how warm the water still was for September, and was in it almost every day. We enjoyed putting the lounge chairs out on the floating dock mid-morning and lying in the sun. I could not get over the lack of mosquitoes...and they usually like me a lot.

I think one of the things I liked best about 95 Crockett is that it’s been left alone as it was probably 40 years ago. Walking in I was immediately transported back to the mid 60’s when on occasion I would visit cottages owned by friends’ families on a lake or down the Cape. The knotty pine paneling, the screened porch, etc.

About Robert Stallard

North Pond, has been in our family since 1930, when my grandfather had bought in the Great Depression. Ever since, it been and still a place where our families have relax and been nourished. For the last 18 years we have rented to others during the winter months and part of the summer, since we are able only to be there for about a month. Renting has enabled us to make a number of improvements and allow others to be blessed.

There are reports that it is great lake for bass large and small. 25 minutes to Worcester, 45 minutes to Boston & Providence, 35 minutes to Old Sturbridge Village and Blackstone Valley National Heritage Corridor. Southwick Zoo in Mendon, New England's finest zoo, is 10 miles away. There are many Golf Course and restaurants close by. Brimfield Flea Market 30 min. away.

Abutting to rear on the property is Peppercorn Hill, commands a fine view of North Pond, from which flows Mill River, separating Upton from Milford. Pratt's Hill and pond, and a smaller pond, beautify the scenery on the north of the central village.

Upton has many historic buildings and sites. There are some hidden historic Indian sites and some beehive cave chambers. On a clear fall day, you can see the tip of the Boston sky line from Peppercorn Hill. Call the owner 978 882 4028

Another Great Stay at North Pond

This was our 4th time renting at Bob & Nancy's North Pond cottage and it was the best so far. Our two weeks in August were perfect, great weather, warm water temperature and as beautiful as ever. A few improvements in furnishings and services added to our comfort and enjoyment. The newer bed in the main bedroom is very comfortable for two and the 2 guests we had for a couple nights reported that the twins upstairs were very comfortable as well. The updated living room sofa is a good improvement. The added internet access was a nice addition (a longer cable I brought along allowed me to use my laptop from the back porch).
We found the property very clean and well maintained upon arrival.
We enjoyed several family lunches on the back decks. Probably the most exciting part was on our last evening there, we were sitting out in the side yard after dinner overlooking the lake when we experienced a "blue moon", the second full moon in the month of August, on the 31st. We sat for hours as we watched this beautiful huge moon rise from the east and illuminate the water in front of us. If only the photos I took could have captured the full beauty of it. But still, Unforgettable! We really hope to be back soon.

My family lives overseas and we come home for about a month every summer. The house that we were fortunate enough to rent this summer was amazing! We had more than enough room for our family of five. We spent our days in the cool, refreshing water - with our extended family that lives in the area. The location of our "lake house" is about 20 minutes from the Mass. Pike....making it an easy drive to either Springfield or Boston. There is a grocery store that is less than 20 minutes from the house..in a shopping plaza that has a Five Guys, Friendly's, hair/nail salon, and much more.
The house itself is well-maintained and updated, while still keeping it's lakehouse charm. When we had our family over for a barbeque, we had ample room for 15 plus people to sit and eat. There are four seating areas so, it never seemed crowded. The house is clean, well supplied with cooking utensils, and the living room has a/c - which helped during the heat wave. A/C was not always necessary as there is typically a cool breeze coming off the water. The views from the house are simply beautiful - water, trees, and blue sky...what more could you ask for?
As you can tell, we REALLY enjoyed our stay at Bob and Nancy's house!!! Our teenaged daughter is already asking if we can stay here next year!!

Great Vacation Getaway

Ed and I enjoyed our stay at this rustic and cozy cottage overlooking a lovely pond. It was very peaceful and welcoming. Swimming was great, and we enjoyed visiting the neighboring towns. On one occasion we took the commuter train to Boston and spent the day exploring the Commons and revisiting historical sites.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway

North Pond vacation home

Hi Bob,



I just wanted to drop you a note to tell you that everything was great at the pond during our stay. It was very nice to meet you and Nancy. I hope everything was in order when you got there. We tried to put things back where we found them. Fin & Feather was supposed to pick up the kayak Thursday morning but it was still in the driveway by the sand pile when we left.



I was in the water every day, and we kayaked almost every day. We only turned on that A/C unit once...our last evening there when all that humidity rolled in. Overall we had the best weather we could ask for...dry, warm and sunny. We had about 3 hours of light rain that first Wednesday.



The improvements you made over last year were very much appreciated. Probably most important to us was how good the landscaping looked, the increased view from the lot and the access to the boat ramp and beach area. We also liked the wooden blinds in the den/bedroom, very effective in blocking the sun and they are heavy enough that they didn't blow around when the wind blew. We actually brought along an extra set of old dark sheets in case there wasn't anything on those windows, so we could sleep later than sunrise. And the light and mirror in the bathroom made a tremendous difference when shaving! Once again we did not use the upstairs at all, except to store our suitcases, but I was surprised that it was just as cool up there as the rest of the house. Also, the new dock ladder is a lot more comfortable on the feet than the old one.

We look forward to staying there again. Hopefully we'll be able to do a similar vacation next year if both Gale and I can get the time off from our jobs.
