Hale Kai means 'Home by the Sea'. You know you are in for something special the moment you step into our 2nd floor unit with it's soaring ceilings and breathtaking views from your new home away from home. Hale Kai is nestled on the edge of the Pacific Ocean and is surrounded by lush tropical foliage, ocean tide pools and some of the best coral reefs in West Maui. Our condo is next to the Honokowai park and has spectacular views of the Island of Lanai from our balcony, living room and kitchen and views of the pool and the Island of Molokai from the bedroom. Sleep to the sounds of the surf. Within walking distance, there is a grocery store, a farmers market and an excellent fish market and deli. You can pick up some fresh fish to grill on the gas BBQ located under the banana trees by the pool. Or treat yourself to any of the great restaurants just minutes away in Kahana, Kapalua, Kaanapali or Lahaina. Enjoy the views of Molokai and Lanai from the pool just steps from our front door.

Notes: Our unit is the ideal location for the trade winds and the sun, as it does not face directly west. In West Maui, condos that have direct ocean views are subject to intense afternoon sun and makes it very uncomfortable to use the lanai 'patio' until the sun goes down, as they are facing west. It also means there will likely be early morning sun in your bedroom. We are away from the parking lot, so, no noise and no car lights in your window, just the sounds of the ocean. That's another reason why our unit is so comfortable, location, location. We have 18' tile throughout the kitchen, livingroom and bedroom. The loft and loft stairs are carpeted. We have owned this unit for 31 years and take great pride in sharing it with others as a vacation rental. Notice that almost no other advertisment gives the name of their complex, wonder why? Hale Kai is wonderful and we are so proud of it! You'll love it too!

Frommer's Travel Guides 2001: We come recommended by Frommer's Travel Guides 2001. 'These graceful apartments look out on flowering gardens, a park, and a good-size pool that fronts on the ocean beach. Each apartment is decorated differently and each has a different view. Some guest come back year after year for the ocean view, others for the quiet parkside units. Rooms on the upper levels have cathedral ceilings. All are furnished nicely with electric kitchens and private lanais.' ALL HALE KAI UNITS ARE NONE SMOKING - including the lanai and balcony.

Frommer's Hawaii 2003: 'This place fills up fast, so book early; repeat guests make up most of the clientèle,' according to Frommer's Hawaii 2003. GUEST BOOK COMMENT: Aloha and Mahalo!! We loved our stay here! This is our first visit here to #202 (not our first visit to Hawaii). We thought it was amazing. The sound of the waves crashing at night lulled us to sleep.
