Making for excellent conditions for swimming, snorkeling or just floating. Walk down the beach a ways, where the waves break bigger, and try your luck at a little Body Boarding or Body Surfing. Magical sunrises and early morning walks on our white sand beach, are free of charge. Walk for hours and not see another person but a fisherman up at dawn throwing his nets. Here you will find yourself in the essence of Kauai with the healing sounds and smells of the cool Pacific Ocean. Witness the true natural beauty of Kauai, like nowhere else. We've aimed to keeping the Beach Cottage as simple and open as possible, so as to maximize the interaction of man and nature. The Native Hawaiian foliage surrounding the Beach Cottage will leave you with a feeling of peace and harmony. Our units target the eco-adventure type of visitors, who appreciate being out in nature and the natural surroundings.
What a honeymoon getaway! After a travel day of 20 hrs all the way from Philadelphia, PA, we have made it to this quaint and beautiful Hawaiian Cottage!
It has been a magical and peaceful trip much to the thanks of this Cottage.
The mornings were beautiful and showering between the mountains and the ocean was therapeutic.
Aloha for this amazing experience.
Our week at the cabin on the beach at Anahola was a wonderful experience. A special treat was visiting the critically endangered monk seal that had hauled out about 100 feet away on the beach. According to Nana who has lived here for many years, this is that same seal (K13) that she saw give birth nearby several years ago. We particularly delighted in floating in tubes along the beach past K13, who gave us a casual look as we passed. We enjoyed listening to the waves and wind in the coconut palms all night and waking to the sunrise over the beach. In our week there, we did not see any insects or geckos inside and the place was very clean for our arrival. A lock box was available for our valuables but we did not feel it was necessary to use it. The central part of the structure is a well-built old beach cottage and other rooms have been added on. For an intimate, romantic, and unique experience very close to the beach in Kauai, this is the place. We will always stay here when we come back to Kauai.
If you like to stay in a run down shack, then this is the place. the pictures are very outdated. The beach was not swim friendly unless you like the huge waves and drop off. I realize that the geckos run freely inside but their poop all over is discusting. The cockroaches in the coffee maker was the last straw we left after one nite!! Oh and the place is not at all secure make sure you take all your valuables with you every time you leave. Very humid and hot inside everything is always damp even the bed. Not private at all there is houses on both sides, one is right next to the outdoor shower! And if your not sure about their rules just read the front of the fridge it's written on it in felt pen Also don't brush your hair inside or use soap or you will be charged an additional fee!! So tacky!!
Steve and I absolutely loved the beach cottage! The atmosphere Nana created in the cottage, beach, energy of the place, the owner of the cottage (Nana) were all awesome. Loved hearing the waves all night, waking up to have coffee on the beach (which is 60 feet away from cottage, magical), watching the sunsrise, watching the sand crabs appear and fling up the sand as they dig thier holes, enjoyed having a small gecko pet in our room greet us with a good morning chirp. The place is exactly what we were looking for. I loved the outdoor shower, looking at the waves, mountains, full moon as I rinsed off...Quiet, private, true hawaii experience. Once we saw the place and the beach, we had no need to go anywhere else. I highly recommend this beach cottage for a romantic, peaceful experience. The owner Nana is wonderful..We will always stay at this beach cottage when we return.
We booked this unit for a week but only stayed one night. This unit is acceptable if one is unwilling to share your dwelling with centipedes, roaches and geckos. The kitchen is outside under an overhang. That washer/dryer are on adjacent premises. When we found this unit unacceptable the owner refused to refund any of our money. If you enjoy camping out this unit would work for you otherwise keep looking. We had saved for our dream trip to Kauai and it turned out to be a disappointment.
My wife and I came here for our honeymoon and we had the time of our lives!! The feeling of waking up to the sunrise at your feet and the sound of waves hitting the shore is so good for the soul. I have never been so relaxed. The design of the cottage is everything we dreamed of: small, with a big porch, lots of space outside, plus a kitchen, hammocks, outdoor shower, and charcoal grill. Although the property does not provide 100% privacy, as there are occasional neighbors in sight, 99% of the time you have total peace and quiet. No loud roads nearby. Our favorite thing about the cottage was making our breakfasts on the lanai and watching the sun come up over coffee.
Anahola is a small town in between Kapaa and Kilauea on the island of Kauai, when you drive through Anahola you hardly know it's a town or that it's near the ocean. But just one short mile down our road and it opens up to Anahola Bay with a stream and lot's of sand. Bigger waves on one side of the bay for body surfing or body boarding, and on the other a nice barrier reef where you can snorkel and enjoy the protection from the waves. We are on the side with the barrier reef but we also have a sandy beach.
