Rockport is about 35 miles north of Boston on the tip of Cape Ann, surrounded on 3 sides by the Atlantic Ocean. The lighting in Rockport has attracted artists from all over the world to paint. Andee has been married for 24 years. We are a family of 4 with a background in Restaurants, Theatre, Real Estate, and History. Andee is a realtor in New Jersey. Her husband is in the restaurant business in NYC. We love to visit Rockport and our friends there every chance we get!

Andee Post purchased this house in 2008

My best friend grew up coming to Rockport every summer of her childhood. I had the chance to visit with her one summer and fell in love with the village! After I married, my best friend and I came back for a summer vacation. She with her firstborn and I with mine, we were both pregnant at the time. We made it a point to summer in Rockport every year from then on! When my little family out grew our favorite room #9 in The Tuck Inn we decided it was time to have our own place. We wanted a property that was close to town, but away from the hustle and bustle in order to enjoy the peaceful Rockport evenings.

When we found Hooper House we knew the house had been waiting for us! It had just the right combination of old and new. Hooper House was originally a 2 family home for fishing families built around 150 years ago.

Now we pop in during the summer as well as the other seasons. It has become my children's tradition and hopefully one day their children's!

Hooper House is close to town and far enough away to not be disturbed by other visitors. We have the best neighbors! You can park 2 cars tandem and not use them if you want. There is a train to Boston, Salem and Newburyport. Those are some of our favorite go to spots. You can even take the train to Gloucester if you want. It's a short walk to all the downtown hot spots. Rockport is a great place to walk and take in all the 'Kodak moments' around every corner. We like to walk off our meal after eating at one of our fine seaside restaurants. Because Cape Ann ('The Other Cape') is strategically positioned in the Atlantic Ocean the colors of sunrise and sunset in Rockport have attracted artists from all over the world to paint and photograph.

A perfect summer holiday!

We have just returned from a wonderful time at Hooper House. It helped that we seemed to choose the best week for weather, but the house was also excellent. Everything had been thought of, from chairs to take down to the beach, to lots of information on where to go. The location was perfect- we walked into Rockport most evenings, and took the train into Boston, rather than have to think about parking. The town of Rockport is charming. The house itself was very light and clean, with plenty of space. We had a family of 4 staying there, with an extra guest for 2 nights, but it would take 6 people easily. We would highly recommend this lovely property. The raft by one of the beaches was a great success with our teenage sons!

We stayed for a week in August 2013, it is a beautiful house that is extremely well equipped and taken care of. It is clean and has all the kitchen appliances and plates etc that you could ever need or want. We have a 5 and 3 year old and they loved it. There are 3 upstairs bedrooms, and an large upstairs bathroom that has a tub. It is walking distance from downtown Rockport and we loved walking to dinner each night. The kids easily made the walk there and we brought a stroller for the way home when it was late and they were tired. It is an easy walk to the train station to Boston that we walked to with the kids. We love Rockport and go every year for a week, and this is our favorite house yet! Thanks!
Owner's Response: Thank you Wilson Family! We are so happy to know you enjoyed your stay. And we feel so honored that Hooper House is your favorite! It was great to have you as our guests. We look forward to having you as our guests again! Best,
Andee

Beautiful property in perfect location

We recently returned from our second annual stay at Hooper House and loved it as much as the first year. The house is beautiful and has everything you could want for a vacation stay. We love the backyard with our 2 year old son because it gives him a place to play while we sit and lounge in the Adirondack chairs. The town of Rockport, which is in easy walking distance, looks like it's out of a movie. Our son loves the beach next door and we've spent many hours standing in the waves or looking for snails in the rocks. It's also easy to get into Boston, by train or car, as well as drive north to New Hampshire and Maine (which we did). We are already booking our trip for next year!
Owner's Response: To our Summer guests,
We are so happy you enjoy Hooper House! I love to read about the favorite activities our guests love to do while they are in Rockport.
The location is a great springboard for a day in New Hampshire or even Maine.
There are always new things to discover in and around Rockport.
Welcome back!
Warmly,
Andee

Wonderful stay

We stayed at this beautiful home over the week of Memorial Day and had a fantastic time. The home is perfect and has everything we needed. Our son really enjoyed playing in the fenced in back yard. And the fact that it's walking distance to downtown Rockport and the local beaches was really nice. We had no idea how quaint Rockport was when we booked this stay - it looks like it's out of a movie. We had a lot of fun wandering around town and also visiting some of the nearby parks and beaches. We ended up not even going into Boston because we were enjoying the North Shore area so much.

Thanks for a very relaxing vacation!

Lovely Relaxing Vacation

(Apologies for the delayed review.)

My family (two adults, three kids) stayed at Hooper House in August 2011. We had a fabulous time. Everything we needed was there, even some kitchen staples like sugar, etc. We were able to cook in for most of the week (with kids, that's a plus) because the supermarket was fairly close by. The rest of the time, we visited some of the really nice restaurants down by the water.

The house was immaculate, and we all had plenty of space to relax and not be on top of one another. There's a nice collection of DVDs there, with films for both adults and children, which was a nice bonus. There's also a binder with tons of brochures, so we could always find something to do.

We got there a few days after Hurricane Irene, so beach swimming wasn't really an option (too cold, and lots of debris), but the beach front community is lovely, with lots of shops to visit, and everyone was so, so friendly.

This was a get away and relax vacation, so having the options of just hanging out in a beautiful house, or venturing out to Gloucester or Salem if we wanted to was just perfect. We had no problems at all and no stress.

We highly recommend Hooper House for a lovely quiet beach vacation.
Owner's Response: Thank you to our August guests and the lovely review.
It is never too late to hear from one of our guests!
I am so glad to hear you made use of all the benefits of being close to town as well Gloucester and Salem. I remember even on a rainy day in Rockport we found fun things to do.
So happy you enjoyed and we hope to have you back!
Best,
Andee
