Perched atop an acre of rolling lawn, overlooking Casco Bay and islands, with its own deeded right of way to the best beach for dog walking and sea glass hunting, sits this classic 1860 home filled with antiques, art, and history. The Antique Cottage originally built in 1865 was lovingly restored in the English style. An additional wing was seamlessly added creating two separate dwellings within one facade. With all its charm, the house was chosen by Traditional Home magazine and featured in their 1999 Holiday issue captioned...Island Romance.
Peaks Island is only a 15 minute ferry ride from Portland and it is an escape back in time. Small and quaint with a local grocery store, post office, a pub, an ice cream store, and a couple of restaurants. People are friendly, kids on bikes, dogs chasing sticks on the beach. It is the dream place of everyone's memory of childhood summers. But, it's advantage is Portland and all it's culture, world class restaurants, and museums. Peaks is away from the crowds....and the best of island living.
