Fantastic!!

Excellent, excellent, excellent!! Everything was perfect. The house is very bright (lots of windows), decor absolutely beautiful and very clean. Linens, towels provided along with 6 bikes which are great for cycling down to the beach. The owner & the housekeeper provided excellent customer service. My friends & I highly recommend this gem located in town overlooking the port. No need for car unless you want to explore outskirts of Kennebunkport. Shopping wonderful, restaurants delicious & locals are extremely friendly and courteous.
This is the best property rental I have ever stayed at.

Classic Nautical Home: Attention to Guest Comfort

Our group of five women celebrated our 55th birthdays at Bluebriar. We have travelled together for 30 years and have stayed in many rental properties, including another property in Kennebunkport. Bluebriar is one of the best homes we have rented. It is a GREAT value! The decor is nautical with an emphasis on guest comfort evident in every nook and cranny. The home was impeccably clean upon our arrival and Helen attended to our needs/questions. We were suprised to find a yummy blueberry pie to welcome us!

Bedrooms were so well thought-out and included: bedside table, a variety of lighting, electric fan, trash can, kleenex, closet with hangers and wicker laundry basket, great linens, summer comforters, towels sets.
The three full baths were great: stocked with toilet paper, kleenex, soap, and shower gel. Toilets flushed easily and showers drained quickly. Clean as a whistle. Mirrors, trim and tile look modern and new.
We enjoyed the variety of gathering spaces both inside and on the porch. The seating was plentiful and comfortable. The home catches a great breeze and the view from the porch lets you spy on the boats and people below.
The kitchen/dining areas provided every possible kitchen gadget, appliance, cookery, and serving piece imaginable. The long dining table was perfect for meals and for playing games.The full size washer and dryer in the large laundry room were an added bonus.
We used the beach towels and beach chairs/umbrellas and beach passes when we went to the beach.
The location is perfect, perched on a hill with a great view...but just a short one block walk down the hill to town where you will find shops, groceries, restaurants, boat tours.
Need candles/votives/lighters, extension cord, cocktail napkins, a book to read, local travel guide? Don't sweat it because Bluebriar has everything you could possibly need to make your stay perfect.

Absolutely Awesome

The Bluebrier was even more spectacular than the pictures and extremely well equipped with everything one could possibly need, from the well-appointed kitchen to the beautiful nautical theme. We absolutely loved our stay. The spacious living allowed for everyone to have their privacy. We loved, loved, loved sitting out on the porch for coffee in the morning and drinks in the evening. Helen was amazing and very helpful in suggesting restaurants and places to go. We would most definitely go back. We have been going to Kennebunk for years and this was by far the best place we have ever stayed in. Thank-you for sharing your inviting home.

Beautiful home, great location!

Our family has been vacationing in Kennebunkport for the past 16 years. As the family has grown to include in-laws and grandchildren, our needs in a vacation home have also grown. This house was the perfect place for us to spend this year's summer break.
The property is exceptionally well-cared for and clean (thanks, Helen!). The kitchen and provided kitchenwares were more than adequate for all the cooking we planned. The bedrooms and living spaces were all comfortable and easy places in which to feel at home. The bathrooms were clean and modern while still adding a little charm.
The large wraparound porch was the perfect place to sit and enjoy an outdoor meal or glass of glass in the evening and look out over the Kennebunk River with all of its Maine charm and beauty...and for the kiddos to zip around on their little scooters!
We could not have been more pleased with the customer service that came with this house. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by a fresh Maine blueberry pie from HB Provisions on the kitchen table. Helen (the wonderful housekeeper) lives nearby and was available to help with any emergencies---including unplugging the CrockPot for us when our 3 hour whale watching cruise turned into a 5 1/2 hour excursion. It really was a very welcoming environment in which to stay.
We would most definitely recommend this property to others looking for a Kennebunk vacation...the only drawback to doing so is the possibility that the house may be booked when we want to come back next year!
Our visit can be summed up by 5-year-old Owen who on the 2nd night in the house looked up and said "Grandma, I don't like this house. I LOVE this house." And then again multiple times in the trip "I can't wait to come back to THIS HOUSE next year!"
We had a wonderful vacation. Sherry and Helen's thoughtfulness and caring were clearly evident in this home and our whole experience. Thank you, ladies! Fingers crossed for our 2015 schedule!

Beautiful, Comfortable, and Convenient

Our family of 8 adults and 3 children stayed here two weeks and found it very comfortable and beautiful. It's also extremely convenient to all the shopping and eating in town, and only a mile to the beach- a quick drive or bike. Each couple took turns cooking dinner and found it easy navigate the kitchen and outdoor grill, and have all the right dinnerware for a lobster dinner, Yankee pot roast, fish tacos, grilled swordfish, and juicy burgers. If you're a light sleeper, you might need to bring ear plugs for the nightly revelers at the restaurant/brew pub across the street, but it is worth this amazing location and gorgeous house- and Federal Jack's brew pub is worth a dinner out. One of my favorite things to do was drink coffee out on the porch and watch the sunrise over the boats. Everyone in our family constantly expressed what a "great find" this house was and are left with wonderful memories of our time together.

The home is perfectly situated to enjoy all that the Kennebunk's and nearby New England towns have to offer. Portland is an easy 30-40 minute drive and has much to explore. Portsmouth, NH is 40 minutes away and equally as charming a seaport town. The area is filled with antique shops, art galleries, boutiques, fabulous restaurants of every price range and, of course, endless lobster shacks. Walk to the famed Clam Shack for awesome fried clams or The White Barn Inn for a Five Star dining experience. The scenery is spectacular from the rugged beach to the charming New England villages, coves and countryside.

  • The bathrooms were renovated in 2008. The first floor bathroom has a shower with pond stone floor and ceramic tile walls and ceiling. The second floor bathroom is ceramic and a combination shower and tub. The third floor has a large marble shower and the original claw foot tub. All have custom mirrors, ceramic floors and great lighting.

  • All the rooms are freshly painted and full of character and charm. All except the second floor 'Lobster Room' have water views. They are filled with a combination of antiques and new furnishings. The theme is totally nautical and the rooms are decorated accordingly. The home home was professionally decorated by the well known designer Carlton Varney in 1993 and renovated again in 2008, professionally, with Mr. Varney's touch still very much a part of the decorating scheme. Bluebrier has two fireplaces. There is a wood burning fireplace in the kitchen and a gas fireplace in the Keeping Room, both on the first floor.
