Great room with fireplace, lounge seating & dining table for 10. 2nd floor family room seats 14 with unbelievable viewsand flat screen HD TV .1ST floor bedroom (Maine Room) with queen sized bed. Three bedrooms on the 2ND floor including the Lobster Room (bunk beds), Sea Room (one twin and one oversized twin brass beds), & Shell Room (queen sized bed). 3RD floor Captain's Berth with king sized bed, seating area and TV. Walk to the famed Clam Shack for awesome fried clams or The White Barn Inn for a Five Star dining experience. The scenery is spectacular from the rugged beach to the charming New England villages, coves and countryside.

  • The bathrooms were renovated in 2008. The first floor bathroom has a shower with pond stone floor and ceramic tile walls and ceiling. The second floor bathroom is ceramic and a combination shower and tub. The third floor has a large marble shower and the original claw foot tub. All have custom mirrors, ceramic floors and great lighting.

  • All the rooms are freshly painted and full of character and charm. All except the second floor 'Lobster Room' have water views. They are filled with a combination of antiques and new furnishings. The theme is totally nautical and the rooms are decorated accordingly. The home home was professionally decorated by the well known designer Carlton Varney in 1993 and renovated again in 2008, professionally, with Mr. Varney's touch still very much a part of the decorating scheme. Bluebrier has two fireplaces. There is a wood burning fireplace in the kitchen and a gas fireplace in the Keeping Room, both on the first floor.

Excellent, excellent, excellent!! Everything was perfect. The house is very bright (lots of windows), decor absolutely beautiful and very clean. Linens, towels provided along with 6 bikes which are great for cycling down to the beach. The owner & the housekeeper provided excellent customer service. My friends & I highly recommend this gem located in town overlooking the port. No need for car unless you want to explore outskirts of Kennebunkport. Shopping wonderful, restaurants delicious & locals are extremely friendly and courteous.
This is the best property rental I have ever stayed at.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

Fabulous Getaway

Our sibling reunion at the Bluebrier was wonderful. The property is beautiful, well maintained and conveniently located to all the great restaurants and shopping Kennebunkport has to offer. We all enjoyed breakfast and evening cocktails on the huge front porch overlooking the port with plenty of wicker seating for everyone. Do not miss Gooch’s Beach (and walks with Mrs. Barbara Bush), Cape Porpoise Chowder House for delicious seafood and Ryan’s Pub for the Friday night fish fry and a great selection of Irish beers. There is so much fun to have in the beautiful state of Maine. We can’t wait to return.
This was truly a complete Maine seaside and culinary experience for our family.

Wonderful vacation at Bluebriar

We felt immediately at home in this wonderful house and it exceeded our expectations in every way. The home is beautifully decorated (and rooms are bigger than they look in the pictures), better equipped than many full time homes and right in the center of everything. It was a perfect layout for our friends and family with the 3 bathrooms, multi levels, ample parking, etc. I would enthusiastically recommend this property to anyone looking for a great place to spend their vacation.
Owner's Response: Thanks for the review. We work hard to provide everything that makes our renters vacation convenient and pleasant. I recently rented a home at the Delaware beach and was amazed that it didn't even have a whisk in the kitchen let alone linens and beach towels. The kitchen was so limited that there was not much one could do in the cooking arena than microwave. Not the way we want our Bluebrier!

FANTASTIC RENTAL HOUSE

Although we had difficulty finding the house the first time, we loved everything about it. It was very well-equipped--even bicycles and helmets were included--as well as beautifully decorated. The seating areas were warm and welcoming, while the bedrooms were comfortable and restful. The house overlooks the harbor and the town and is an easy walk to great restaurants and shopping. We found the concierge friendly and helpful and easy to work with. We loved sitting on the porch reading or people-watching. This is a great place for a family looking to relax and enjoy Kennebunkport.

Great for Families!

We have a group of 6 adults and 3 little boys under age 6 who get together every year in New England, and this year, we all agreed that the Bluebrier was the best house we have found yet! Beautifully renovated with all amenities you could hope for; plenty of space; easy walk to restaurants and stores; short bike ride to the beach; with a view of the river and boats from the porch!

The house was luxurious but very practical (and not so over-the-top that you have to constantly worry about kids breaking things.) Very tastefully decorated with obvious affection for the town and its history. And only a 30 minute drive to Portland--which has a great children's museum and nearby outlets in case you need a rainy-day destination.

We highly recommend it!
