Beautiful stone built barn conversion recently renovated to a high standard, awarded ****FOUR STAR**** rating by Quality in Tourism Assessment Report. Features include traditional kitchen with original bread oven and copper. One double en-suite bedroom, one twin bedroom with wet room, fully accessible. Large conservatory with doors opening onto court yard garden. Upstairs large sitting/television room, fully beamed. This cottage is ideally situated on a working farm and horse livery yard. Located between Woodstock and Burford on the edge of the Cotswolds, yet only quarter of an hour from Oxford. Well behaved dogs and horses are welcome. From the farm there is a superb network of bridleways and walks. We have a small 1000 year old Church at the bottom of the drive and a 4th century Roman Villa withiin easy walking distance. Witney (2 miles) is a market town previously famous for its blankets and now a vibrant shopping centre with many amenities and supermarkets.

The farm is situated down a half mile drive across rolling green fields filled with horses, sheep and cattle, on the outskirts of North Leigh village, on the edge of the Cotswolds. North Leigh is situated approx. 2 miles from Witney the local market town. Woodstock and Blenheim Palace are approximately four miles away. Stunningly beautiful Burford is within easy reach (15 minutes drive). Oxford is a twenty minutes drive. The nearest train stations are Charlbury and Long Hanborough - a few minutes drive. Oxford train station is 20 minutes away and Central London is a maximum 2 hours away by road. All Cotswold attractions are within a 45 minutes drive including Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Norton, beautiful Bourton-on-the-Water, the Swells and Stratford-upon-Avon is only 45 minutes away. Warwick Castle is not much further. That is the beauty of this cottage; we are central for the Cotswolds but also very near to Oxford, the motorway network, Cheltenham Spa and central London

Notes: The cottage has two bedrooms, one double ensuite and one twin ensuite. However the conservatory has a leather sofa bed. We also can provide a put-you-up bed which can go into the twin room providing beds for three children. Please note that there are only two bathrooms which are only accessible through the two bedrooms. The cot usually goes into the double room which has an area ideally suited for it. The kitchen has been thoughtfully modernised. There are plenty of attractive built in cupboards, granite effect work surface surrounding a hob with stainless steel extractor fan and oven. It also has the magnificent fireplace with lovely beams with the copper to one side where in the past the clothes were washed and the large bread oven to the other side. The Old Bakehouse has been tastefully modernised and comfortably furnished while still retaining the original character and charm you would expect from a traditional 18th century building.

We want to make your holiday a relaxing and peaceful time for you. Please contact us if there is anything we can do for you to make your stay more pleasant, including shopping etc. We have been virtually fully booked since advertising with holiday-rentals.

Please note:: As we are a working stock farm and horse livery yard we do ask that children and pets are fully supervised at all times. We have many fields and walks on the farm. The sows are farrowing all year, ewes are lambing in the Spring and mares are foaling in the Spring/early Summer. Please do not walk round the back of horses and mind little fingers!

Golf: There are many local golf courses. We have had many golfers stay with us.

Other Activities: Bird watching and many local historical sites to visit. There are also a wide variety of excellent pubs/restaurants for dining out within easy reach.

A perfect basis for exploring

There is so much to see and do in the area. In less then one hour, you can reach lovely villages, castles, gardens and much more in Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and the Cotswold area.

The location of the cottage is perfect, sorrounded by countryside and farm animals, its peaceful and relaxing.

The owners are very welcoming, discreet and though helpful, don't hesitate to ask where to eat in the area. We were suggested some local Inns, with great food and atmosphere.

The cottage fulfill in al ways our expectations. Wonderfuld beds. It was spotless and provided with everything we needed.

We will definitely recommed this property to our friends.
Owner's Response: We have had several families from Denmark this year. It has been a delight to welcome them to Oxfordshire. The cottage has been left so tidy!! Hopefully we will see them again some time.

Perfect experience!!

For anyone looking to "get away from it all", this is it. The cottage is extremely clean, has wonderful character and is beautifully equipped. We enjoyed walking out the door to be greeted by the geese! The horses watched us from their stalls, the retired sheep dog guarded our doorstep and the rooster reminded us of the morning (although he cannot compete with Rolex). The countryside is breathtaking and peaceful, reminding us why we love England so much! Thank you, Pat & Peter for being so accomodating.

Old Bakehouse Visit June 2009

We visited the Old Bakehouse for a short break in June 2009 and were so impressed that we have already booked to go back for a longer stay next year. The cottage is loacted on a farm and is in a very peaceful, relaxing and quiet setting, surrounded by rolling fields and countryside. The holiday felt like we properly got away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. North Leigh is a beautiful village with a lot of houses made of traditional cotswold stone. The cottage was spotless and furnished to a very high standard. We particularly liked the conservatory and the private courtyard garden. The kitchen was well equipped and the bedrooms and living room were very comfortable and tastefully decorated. The owners were extremely friendly and welcoming and we also had a visit from the retired farm sheepdog, who came to say hello! Nothing was a bother to them and we felt completely at home. There is so much to see and do in the area - we went to Bourton on the Water, Lechlade and Farringdon, and visited relatives in Brize Norton and Witney. Bourton on the Water is well worth a visit for the selection of shops and restaurants, as well as Birdland and the model village.

The literature describing the property was spot on in terms of accuracy. We have already recommended the property to our parents. If you choose this cottage, you won't be let down.

A nice and resting house for a week holiday

The house is very pleasant, in a resting countryside and surrounded with fields and animals (horses, dogs, geese, etc...).
The host and hostess are very welcoming, discreet and though helpful.
The comfort and equipment of the house is perfect : nice resting room, very good beds, complete kitchen appliances.

We did spend a fantastic week, enjoying lots of touristical visits in the heart of England : Oxford, Blenheim palace, Stratford-upon-Avon, Rugby, London, etc....

We recommend the place to stay and wish future visitors the same bright and sunny weather that we enjoyed this week ofMarch 2009.
