We bought the house in 2007 for our retirement because we can't think of anywhere else as spectacularly as beautiful. It is one of the world's truly special places.
Peter Anderson purchased this house in 2007
We have long been in love with the indescribable Mendocino coast, and bought the house for our retirement. But, that's 10 years off, and we're renting it out for vacations until then.
The thing that everyone tells us when they leave is the incredible location on the ocean. Located about 15 minutes south of the Village of Mendocino, it is not too developed, yet neither is it too remote. In this special spot, Molly has focused on providing attractive woman's touches to make guests' time there comfortable, attractive and evocative.
Peter and Molly,
This was our second time staying at Sea & River House, and it was again a magnificent experience. The house is beautiful and we enjoyed being able to watch the sunset from the hot tub in the evening. The view of nature is magnificent. The addition of WiFi saved us the choice between worrying and a trip into town. We stayed during the Mendocino music festival which was spectacular. Thank you again for a great vacation.
Our intention was to relax, and relax we did. World class sunsets from a bubbling jacuzzi. A cozy woodstove and the roar of the ocean. Al fresco breakfasts on the balcony. Oh yeah...
Just a wonderful oceanfront house that is perfect for that relaxing getaway.
Comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen and unlimited things to see and do within a short driving distance. Highly suggested, just wished we could have spent more time there.
Found a small restaurant in Ft. Braggs Noyo Harbor called Carine's Fish Grotto that looked small on the outside but a great outside and inside eating area and great seafood.
Very nice well arranged home perched in a bluff overlooking the ocean.spectacular view on 3 different orientations! We enjoyed the wood stove in the evening. Good base to explore up and down the coast. thanks again!
This house is perched on a bluff with incredible views. We were visited by bunnies on the lawn and migrating whales in the ocean below.
The house itself is not perfect (it could do with larger windows or sliding doors to maximize the views), but the decks and garden are fabulous.
Our party ranged in age from 3 years to 70 years. Everyone had a great time.
The kids had a three day weekend in March, and we were looking for a quick getaway. We saw the photos on the homeaway website and knew this was exactly the place we needed. When we arrived, we were stunned because the view even more spectacular than the pictures and scanned over a mile of coastal beach and cliffs.
We took their advice from the website and went horseback riding on the beach just south of us at Ricochet Ridge Ranch. It was amazing. They even have horseback riding through the Redwood forest - so I see a return visit in the future!
We found a great grocery store in the town of Mendocino so we did most of our cooking at the house. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed.
Except for one basketball game (ACC tournament finals), we never turned on the television. We sat out on the porch and read, played games and sat by the wood burning stove and just talked.
It really was the perfect winter retreat and I can't wait to go back next year!
We had a great time staying at the house, the view is certainly something to remember.
It was everything we could have wanted from our stay at the coast. Loved the wood burner.
Great woods, great ocean view, good local wines and a few pretty decent restaurants. I don't know what else you can expect from a vacation house, way better than most high end hotels in my opinion. What I loved the most was not seeing too many people while we were enjoying all of this, and not seeing a Walmart or a Mc. Donald's within a 10 mile radius! Can't think of a better place to recharge your batteries!
