Downstairs you'll find a second bedroom and bath that has a really comfortable double bed with full bath just across the hall, a fully stocked kitchen (including homemade granola, milk, juice, coffee & tea and huge amount of spices), 2 large decks-lower one has 8 person hot tub. The view is incredible, towering fir trees all around the cabin respond to the wind and it's an amazing feeling (especially in the hot tub!) Centrally located to explore Gig Harbor, Tacoma, Seattle, Olympic National Park, Mt. Rainier, and up the peninsula to Port Townsend, Bainbridge Island, Hood Canal, and Sequim. Several great golf courses nearby including Chambers Bay which will be the site for the 2015 U.S. Open. Miracle Ranch is a camp for kids and that is just 5 miles from the cabin.
Get away from the hustle and bustle of life, go back in time, and enjoy the slow pace of a romantic era.

Years ago when I drove up to this little log cabin I felt I was home. To me it is quintessentially northwest style. It is very much my personality. My joy comes from sharing this with others that are in need of a quiet, quaint, old-fashioned feeling place to relax and de-stress. I love reading the comments I've received! I was a flight attendant for 20 years and traveled all over the world and I know the deep meaning of a peaceful place to lay your head. I am now a massage therapist. I still enjoy traveling so that's why I rent out this log cabin - as a means of continuing to explore the world and learn about other cultures. I love to photograph, write, and explore - especially on a bicycle!
Karina Boston purchased this cabin in 2004
I love the Key Peninsula! It is unique with a country feel but so close to the wonderful waterfront town of Gig Harbor and the cities of Tacoma and Seattle. You can easily reach Seattle within an hour either by driving or taking the ferry. The huge trees in the community of Lake Minterwood cannot be cut down so it will always remain the way it is now. These huge giant fir trees are a real plus when you're staying in a log cabin - in the summer they keep the area cool and when they sway in a wind storm you are reminded of how truly small you are in nature.
Canoeing and fishing on the lake is right out your front door, it is fairly normal to watch a bald eagle soar overhead, or a flock of birds land on the water together. The hot tub allows you to hang in nature and watch the trees sway overhead putting you in another world all together. The sun sets on the lake making it look like diamonds sparkling. Camp fires by the lake are memorable and it's just a few miles down the road to beautiful state parks and beaches.
After 10 days of exploring the great Pacific NW we closed out our trip in your lovely lakeside cabin. We saw the Pacific ocean, rain forests, hot springs, breathtaking mountain views and much more but nothing more peaceful & tranquil than your little lakeside paradise. Thank you!
Very pretty cabin and surrounding area. Close to some easy short trails and beautiful views. It's in the middle of a neighborhood but the trees make it feel very quiet and secluded. Very relaxing!

My wife and I loved our stay at The Cabin at Minterwood and will definitely come back with friends as this would sleep 4-6 comfortably!
Our family of five (2 adults, 3 young kids) stayed at the Lakefront Cabin in July 2012 - we had an awesome time! My kids loved going out on the canoe and all the neat little parts of the property (secret swing, Indonesian tea hut, beach, canoe, kayak, etc). Gae was very easy to work with and we had a wonderful time. I am a harsh critic, and I would highly recommend this place!
Great cabin for getaway with nice, comfortable interior, bedrooms, baths; great decks, porch, hot-tub; beautiful lake view with on-site kayak, canoe, paddle boat. Short distance from Gig Harbor proper (15-20 min) and Tacoma (30 min). This place is a hidden jewel, and I plan to go back soon as I can.
The owner has been extremely helpful and friendly. Property is very clean and well-maintained.
Photos do not begin to illustrate the great amenities outdoors or indoors.
The minute we walked through the doors of the cabin, we knew we found the perfect spot for our vacation retreat. Everything was spectacular! We stayed for a week and the first couple of nights it was just my husband and myself for some time together and then the kids and grandkids came for the Labor Day weekend. When the grandkids (girl's 10 and 6) got there they were so excited. We were out on the bottom deck and they came running out on the top deck pronouncing "We Love this Cabin" It was so perfect for us and had everything we hoped for and more. The log cabin had great ambience and was very cozy. It was well equipped with everything needed. Even a washer and dryer. There was easy access to the lake with a kayak and canoe and we brought our row boat. The lake was bountiful with fish (the community stocks it) and fishing was great - trout 11" - 18". There is a firepit down by the lake for night time fires and of course, S'mores and the firewood provided was plentiful. Bandit, our dog enjoyed his vacation too, playing in the water and roaming around off a leash. It was fenced, so no worries! And everyone's favorite was the hot tub, we all enjoyed looking up trough the trees and out on to the lake. When we rented the cabin, it did say it had WIFI, but Gae sent an e-mail saying it no longer did. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise, because No WIFI = No Temptation. Had there been WIFI I know I would have used it to look at work stuff etc, but because there wasn't I found that I could really de-compress and relax, read, hot tub, enjoying the lake and quiet, peaceful and serene sorroundings. It was a great place to watch wildlife, we spotted a number of eagles, hawks, cranes and racoons across the lake. We would definetly book this cabin again and will recommend to friends and family. Thank you for sharing your place with others. P.S. When the girl's were leaving they had their arms around the logs holding the awning in front. I asked what they were doing and they said "we are hugging the cabin goodbye". "We Love this Cabin". Needless to say, we had good quality family time together and made some wonderful memories. I snapped a picture and will send it to you Gae.
The Husons, Paul, Ginger, Paul Jr, Melissa, Keara and Bella - and Rachael too - our 19 year old who came for a day.
My partner and I lived in this cabin for 6 months, starting January 1st through July 1st. It is incredibly cozy, quiet and nature is right at your fingertips. I loved the ability to be out in the forest, with wonderful walking trails in your backyard, and the patter of a light rain on the roof at night.
The cabin is most certainly not infested with spiders. That being said, this is a log cabin. If you don't like the characteristic of log cabins, it might not be for you.
This is a classic log cabin in every sense of the word. It is rustic. It is nestled in tall trees. It is wonderfully cozy. It has some dust and some cobwebs, but they are easily manageable. I probably dusted twice a month, and vacuumed about two times a week because the pine needles are ridiculously determined to enter that space. I wouldn't give the trees up though to get rid of their needles. They are wonderful to watch sway in the breeze while lying on the porch, or in the sweet hot tub! And their smell reminds me of deep wood walks and the smell of freshly sawn wood.
What it boils down to is that cabin living is not for everyone. This cabin is a wonderful hideout, and Gae and Raph are wonderfully accommodating, but will also leave you be to enjoy your vacation. If you want to get away from the buzz of city life, and have the Olympic Peninsula at your finger tips, stay here. It is wonderfully romantic and beautiful.
The cabin is located right on a lake so you can fish for bass and trout or just canoe or kayak. About 5 miles down the road the Puget Sound is accessible via Joemma Beach state park and Penrose State Park where you can pier fish, clam dig and oyster hunt - very near Hood Canal, which is beautifully scenic. Seafood is abundant here! Horseshoe Lake & Golf course is located 5 miles from the cabin and there's a camp for kids there called Miracle Ranch. World Class Golf Course, Chambers Bay, where the U.S. Open will be held in 2015 is only 30 minutes away. Gig Harbor is 10 miles and has great restaurants, bars and antique shops with a great walkway that hugs the harbor with great views of Mt. Rainier. For skiers Chrystal mountain is about a 2 hour drive from the cabin. The hot tub and the view of the lake through the towering fir trees is unbeatable for true relaxation.
