Just Right!

Simply put, this property is just right! I was there for 2 weeks and couldn't be happier. Conveniently located to all of upstates glory, but just away far enough to have the feeling of seclusion. The house is comfy and suitable for a lovely small dinner party and cocktails on the porch. The patio in the back is a perfect office away from home or to take a snooze in the hammock. Wifi and cell reception was spot on! Really a great place to get some writing or project work done. I had to get back to the city mid stay, and the commute flew by, such an easy trip. The metro north train is also 15 min away in Poughkeepsie as is the Trailway bus into New Paltz. Oh yes and the kitchen is a dream to cook in with a great grill just off the kitchen on patio. I had a great time and look forward to staying again in the future!!

Excellent Upstate Cottage

We were looking for a comfortable farmhouse style cottage, within a few hours of NYC, with excellent access to the outdoors.

This cottage was an excellent find:
1. 2hr drive from city.
2. Cottage - Clean, attractive, farmhouse, with nice and well stocked kitchen, gas fireplace, loved the screened in porch, and it was private. (1bed up stairs, 1bath down stairs w/ comfortable pull out couch in living room... kids or kids at heart might like to sleep on the screened in porch... nice stars at night)
3. Excellent access to the Shawangunks and nearby parks / preserves. Amazing climbing, hiking, waterfalls, etc.
4. New Paltz and nearby townships include farmers markets, ice cream shops, and the like that you may be looking for on relaxed weekend away.
5. Relatively inexpensive.
6. Dia Beacon (nearby museum) made for a nice stop on the return trip home.
7. Owner was very easy to deal with.
8. There is a nearby train although we found hearing the train in the distance in the evenings pleasant. Did not keep anyone awake.
9. Wifi included and worked.

I would certainly stay again.

Nice cottage with a view

The property is very nice, somewhat private, and has a beautiful view. It is very nicely furnished, has a patio with a hammock and a great screen porch. It is close to New Paltz (a fun small town) and the Hudson river, so there is plenty to do and see.

There are train tracks very close to the property and when the train comes every few hours; you'll know it!

If you are planning on staying during warm weather, you may want to bring a fan as the main floor doesn't not have central air.

Trash is not picked up so you need to drive a few miles down the road and pay to get rid of it.

We made the right choice.

We drove 600 miles from Michigan to stay here for the week and visit the Hudson River Valley. We were provided detailed instructions prior to our arrival via email about how to get to the cottage, where things were and how to use them. The owners were also good about communicating what was in the area to visit and where to eat and shop.

The cottage was perfect for my wife and myself - very private, quiet and well equipped. It was great in the evenings and the mornings to just relax out on the screened in porch with a beverage of choice and view the valley. The property was clean and well maintained. The owner checked in with us via email to see how things were going mid-week and again provided numbers to contact them if any problems arose.

We visited many places: Sleepy Hollow Cemetery tour (at night!),
town of New Paultz (stop at The Cheese Plate), Mohonk Mountain House (spectacular), CIA Culinary Institute of America (loosen your belt), Tubing down Esopus Creek (It's not a creek!), town of Rhinebeck, Woodstock, Hudson (antiques galore), Olana mansion, West Point (beautiful), Lyndhurst mansion, and a river boat tour out of Kingston (some great sights from the water).

The cottage was a great jumping off point for all these destinations as it was centrally located.

I would highly recommend this place to a friend or a relative, it was a jewel.
