This is your opportunity to Experience Tropical Paradise, spectacular sunsets year-round, spouting whales in winter, and frolicking dolphins. This secluded and prestigious 18 acre Resort is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, Keauhou Bay, and world class golf courses, and only minutes to the best snorkeling on the Big Island.

Two lighted tennis courts and three pools with spas are convenient for your enjoyment. A 24 hour gated security provides privacy and tranquility. Unobstructed views abound from this spacious 1700 square foot unit, complete with lanai wet bar; large master suite with king-size bed, and double showers.

Second bedroom has two extra-long twin beds, which can be made into a king; queen-size sleeper in living room; full-size front-loading washer and dryer, ceiling fans, porcelain tile floors throughout; tiled countertops in kitchen, and both baths. Deluxe Koa wood cabinetry throughout. This is a NON-SMOKING unit. No Pets are allowed.

About Janice Patterson

Bruce and Janice, retired teachers, grew up in Salem, Oregon

Both graduated from Oregon State University in Education, Janice in Elementary and Bruce in Secondary History and Science. Two married sons and four wonderful grandchildren.

We chose to buy our vacation rental, because our dream had always been to live in Hawaii. As the time neared, we decided that Kona was the place for us. We felt it had the most desirable weather, fishing, and most harmonious cultural blend. We felt the community desire was to work together for the best interest and welfare of all.

What makes this condo unique

We initially were attracted by the beauty of our ocean, magnificent sunsets, lush tropical plants and landscaping. The cultural activities of Hawaii, being hula or ukulele to name just a few, are available for all. There are so many activities available that it is difficult to choose. The Hawaiian culture is gracious, generous, humble, and willing to share the beauty of their heritage.

Janice & Bruce: Just a quick note to tell you how much we enjoyed the use of your condo last week. We couldn't have asked for a better setting. It proved to be a great base for our excursions and also a pleasant place just to relax

when we were too pooped from running around. We took you up on your suggestion to use Neptune Charlie's and it was a terrific morning. We all went scuba diving and Mark & Angy took good care of us. They were very pleasant and personable. Just to look over and see some other very crowded tourist snorkel/dive boats assured us that going smaller was the right decision. Don't hesitate to use us for an email reference if needed.

Fabulous!

Amazing site for a condo. Great view of the ocean, boat traffic, whales, dolphin, sunsets, and more. Truelly a memorable vacation. Cannot wait to return to this unit! Had everything we needed and more. Fully stocked kitchen and use of the BBQ's was great. Three pools to choose from (1 adult only). The lanai is perfect for breakfast and dinner watching sunsets. (Lunches were good there too)! Can't get closer to the ocean.

Great Adventure

As frequent visitors to the Islands we have stayed in many condos over the years. This unit was by far one of the nicest we have ever had the pleasure to rent. The views are outstanding and we enjoyed watching the whales, dolphins, outrigger canoes, and fabulouse sunsets from the lanai. The little things: free wifi, netflix, complimentary interim cleaning on our three week stay and a newspaper delivered daily to our front door made this stay unique from other rental properties. The kitchen is fully equipped with every appliance imaginable. This is the perfect unit for two couples traveling together with double sinks and private bathrooms for each bedroom. The beach supplies were outstanding. Comfortable beach chairs, boogy boards, coolers, beach towels, shopping bags and everything you will need for your stay were provided and in excellent condition. The unit has been recently upgraded and we found everything immaculate and clean. Thank you for sharing your condo with us and allowing us to enjoy the expansive ocean views of the magnificient Kona coast.

Whale watching supreme

We enjoyed two weeks at this lovely condo. Views from the lanai were spectaculer, whales galore, kona sunsets, and daily outrigger canoeists. Recent upgrades to kitchen and bathrooms were great. This is one of the best equipped units we have ever stayed in...all supplies, appliances, beach accesories, spices and other condimentsmade our holiday very easy. Even a daily local paper delivered to the door eachmorning.

6. Filthy floors. Your feet are black from walking on the tile. I am sure this is from the volcanic particulate but this would also be part of the weekly freshen up.

9. Outdated furniture and accessories . Had the chance to view condos for sale in this complex and the difference is day and night in comparison to the refurbished units. Time for a make over.

Owner's Response: We are sorry that you were displeased in any way. We do live on the Big Island, about ten minutes from our property, and we would have been ready and willing to remedy any concern if we had been notified by E mail or telephone. We completed a major remodel on August 1, 2014. This included paint, granite counter tops, granite showers, new tile, all new sinks kitchen and bathrooms, new plumbing, and electrical. We removed all Koa cabinetry, mirror frames, medicine cabinets, headers, towel bars, and toilet paper holders to be refinished. We powder coated all A/C grills, lanai furniture, and replaced the upholstery. We replaced the hot water heater, dish washer, three ceiling fans, and added two new ceiling fans. We replace upholstery and decorations frequently. Most of our visitors expect island style decor, and we aim to please. The fan on the lanai was omitted several years ago, due to the high incidence of ocean spray. Six month regular replacement is a little inconvenient. We scrub and clean thoroughly after guests, changing throw rugs, mattress pad covers, pillow protectors, and blankets. I personally take all the laundry home. You may have noticed being so close to the ocean, there is a trade off with the moisture coming in and leaving droplets. This is a frequent occurrence on glass table tops, glass windows, and picture frame glass during high surf. We never found it a problem when we lived there, as the beauty surrounding us was more important. It never interfered with our view of the whales, dolphins, paddlers, or boats. Upon further investigation, we just discovered today that during the remodel, the plumber reversed the pipes for the hot and cold water with the new fixtures. We plan to address and correct that problem. It is a little inconvenient temporarily, but the hot water is fine, when the dial selection in on cold. There are five gas barbecue sites on property, cleaned daily, and a wonderful spot to visit with friends or meet new friends. Our dust is grey or blackish, probably due to volcanic particulates. Tropical breezes can be more forceful at times, and then there may be more of the particulates in the air. In any case, with the amount of cleaning and scrubbing we provide, I do not think our floors are "filthy". For visits longer than two weeks, we provide a complimentary interim cleaning at no charge. Occasionally, there may be sound above; that is usually easily remedied by a friendly telephone call. After all, Hawaii is Aloha!

Beautiful, but very noisy

I regret to write this review, because this is truly a beautiful condo with very gracious owners. The ocean views, location and accommodations were spectacular. Unfortunately, this unit is on the ground floor, and above is a unit with tile floors. When no one was staying above us, it was pure bliss. When people moved in upstairs, it was miserable. We heard the constant (and very heavy) barefoot thump, thump, thump overhead. Even though we think it was only two people upstairs, it felt like we were living under a herd of elephants. It was particularly bad when they would awake around 5:30 AM to begin their adventures for the day. We'd hear thumping around and the moving of furniture and luggage. It wasn't relaxing at all. Again, I hate to write this review because the owners were so lovely and their condo is great outside of the noise. I'm writing this because I wish I had gotten the straight skinny; the noise was a big downer for us.

Owner's Response: Aloha, We were shocked and surprised to hear about your experience with noise while staying in our unit. We have been sharing our little corner of paradise for fifteen years, and we have never had a noise complaint. It is a mystery to us that there could be that much noise. We were not aware of any remodels in our building, nor anything else that could create a disturbance. We are very sorry for any unusual noise disturbance during your visit. We only wish that you would have called or E mailed us. We do live in Kona, about ten minutes from our property, and if you had let us know, we would have been more than happy to research the noise and discourage it or find another solution for your enjoyment. Also, we would have been happy to telephone security to help alleviate the noise. When we lived on property for three years, there were only a couple of times when noise overhead was displeasing. Kanaloa, by design, is a quiet property, and the quiet hours are enforced from 10 PM to 8 AM. We are so sorry for any inconvenience you may have experienced.
