Oceanfront - Kanaloa at Kona - Please See Specials!

What a beautiful place... the location is perfect, the grounds are immaculate, it's quiet, peaceful.... couldn't ask for more. We spent most of our time at the condo out on the lanai. The view was amazing! First day, we observed the Queen Lili'uokalani Outrigger Canoe Race right past the lanai! I love to cook, so we went to the Farmer's Market at Keauhou Shopping Center on Saturday morning and bought all kinds of fruit and fresh Ono, which I grilled on one of the BBQ's located around the property. The kitchen was very well appointed and cooking there was a breeze! Thank you for the restaurant recommendation (Sam Choy's) for my mother's 80th birthday... it was amazing! The view, the food... just perfect. The sunset that night was stunning.... even the wait staff were taking pictures! My mom enjoyed it so much, she requested that we go again the night before we left.... once again, we were not disappointed. We also loved Huggo's on the Rocks in Kona. Great food, cocktails, music every night, even a hula dancer! We too took the Fair Winds II snorkel trip to Kealakekua Bay
which was fantastic, but I have to say the night manta ray snorkel with Kamanu Charters was the highlight! I was a little apprehensive, but so glad I did it! I'll never forget that as long as I live....
Thank you, Bruce and Janice for your kind hospitality, thoughtful touches throughout the condo and quick, helpful responses to all of our questions. We were so comfortable there, it really did feel like home away from home.

Our stay was perfect. The unit was immaculate (I am very picky) and fully stocked. The unit had everything from beach towels to boogie boards to spices in the pantry. The view is amazing and the deck beautiful. The grounds were well maintained and the ocean view pool feels more like a resort pool than a condo and was gorgeous. The owners were SO EASY to work with and very helpful. I would recommend this unit to everybody. It really was PERFECT!

We were so drawn to watching the waves and boats on the lanai that we made sure to get home every night just so we could witness the glorious sunset. Even if you think it might be rainy, never fear...the sunset will come out picture perfect every night. The condo has nice bedding and comfortable living furniture with amazing views. Bruce and Janice are easy to work with and the property grounds are so beautiful and well maintained. We had no issues with noisy neighbors and parking for two cars was manageable. It does get warm in the condo in the late afternoon/early evening but the AC works great for just the few hours you need it. Be sure just to stroll around the condo grounds and take the little walk down by the waterline.

You just can't get a better view and you can't get a closer location to the Fair Wind/Hula Kai/Manta Ray snorkeling and Dolphin Discoveries at Keahou harbor 3 blocks away. Every night, many boats gather by the Sheraton right in view from the lanai for the nightly Manta Ray snorkel and you see them congregate as you sip cocktails from the lanai. I can't recommend Hula Kai highly enough for both the morning snorkel and the night Manta Ray. Kealakekua Bay is just glorious snorkeling - take Fair Winds and spend the whole morning there-it's worth it. Hula Kai takes you to a very remote black sand area with such amazing snorkeling. We saw pilots whales, hammerhead sharks, turtles and it was like swimming in an acquarium. But best of all was the night manta ray snorkel - it's must do, bucket list thing-except be prepared to be cold even with the wetsuit. It was worth every minute though. We also did Dolphin Discoveries in Keahou Bay - not as enjoyable but was still nice because we chanced upon a pod of 25 pilot whales - awesome!. You see all 3 of these boats sail in/out of Keahou Bay daily right from your lanai.

I didn't get a chance to even check out the nearby Kahaluu snorkel park. We'll have to try it next time. The drive to the volcano is about 1 1/2 hours or so - I wouldn't be too jazzed to drive the winding roads at night down by the volcano area so plan accordingly. Kona restaurants are about 15-20 min drive but we loved Bianelli's pizza (killer margharita pizza & pesto bread) and the Thai restaurant right at Keahou Shopping center about 5 min from condo. Friendly fast service!

We can't wait to come back again someday! I honestly wished we would have stayed here for more than 5 nights!
