As an exchange student in Loreto in the 1970's, Mrs. Dotterer fell in love with Loreto and never forgot her experience with this quaint little mexican village on the Sea of Cortez. When Mr. and Mrs. Dotterer heard about the opportunity to purchase this type of property on one of the most picturesque beaches in baja, they couldn't get there fast enough. 'We had a great time on our first trip 'back' and left as proud and VERY excited home owners of our precious villa by the Sea of Cortez in Loreto.' The couple lives in San Diego so we usually drive to Loreto and take long vacations (3-4 weeks) at least twice a year. 'We have made amazing friends who are homeowners in Loreto like us from the U.S. and Canada and also with local 'Loretanos'. We love the beach and ocean so Loreto could not be more perfect for a beautiful getaway without the crowds of a typical tourist destination in Mexico. We hope you enjoy your stay in Loreto as much as we do!'
Cambria Dotterer purchased this house in 2007
We feel very safe here and the beach is the the best beach in Loreto with a quite and protected cove for swimming and snorkeling along with a great estuary for kayaking. Loreto Bay is backed dropped by the Sierra de la Giganta Mountain range that is litteraly your backdrop view. It is so beautiful with the mountains on one side and the ocean on the other. The Beach is right out in front so there are just beautifully landscaped walk ways and no traffic to pass through. We are far enough away from town for peace and quite and near enough for a quick dash into town for a little sight seeing or visiting one of our favorite restaurants.
Our villa is in a fully secure development right on the beach. We have 24 hour security walking the premises. They are very friendly and most know us by name. We are away from the businesses of Downtown Loreto yet can get there in 5-10 minutes by car. In our little community there is a great beach front cafe with pool side service, a wine bar (Wine Cellar at Nopolo), tequila bar, great coffee house and cafe with smoothies and fresh juices, golf course with a fabulous restaurant - All within walking distance of no more than 5-10 minutes at the max! We even have our own local band, the 'Los Beach Dogs'. Strolling along the Paseo be sure to stop in to the artisan boutiques, or have enjoy a massage, take a yoga class or opt for a wood fired pizza and a beer or a glass of wine at Cafe Macchiato. In addition there is daily palapa usage, kayak and snorkel usage right out in front- what more could you ask for? oh - and there is Loreto's only championship 18 hole golf course, which is beautiful and has many holes right on the water!
We loved staying at your beautifully decorated home. I came back with so many photos of the "village" to show everyone. The last day we spent looking at others with a realtor, but with the exception of one, we liked your home the best. Ran into a woman from Canada who stayed in your home last year. She also raved about it. This time they chose a larger home on the golf course because her group golfs. Every place I go to in February has the worst weather ever. Loreto was perfect for us! There are two new additions to the village: an organic store with fresh vegetables and fruits, fish, shrimp, meats and chickens. We cooked shrimp almost every night and had their chickens. Very good prices. His wife is next door with massage and nail spa. Also, a cafe called Corazon that serves great coffee, sandwiches and pastries. Wonderful selection of reading material while you sit there. One place that we enjoyed besides the golf restaurant was the smaller one called Bajaja. It is situated next to the pool off the golf course. Very good service and good breakfast and lunches.
This was the most relaxing vacation my husband has ever had. We saw the whales, drove up to the mission, kayaked, swam each day and explored the town and the neighboring beaches a bit. Thank you for making our stay so easy and comfortable.
This wonderful home was 100% perfect in every way. The location, just a few steps away from the beach, and a few miles from Loreto, was exactly what we were looking for. The home was spacious, spotless, and comfortable. Every detail was perfect. There were four of us - two couples - and the layout of the home was perfect, allowing us privacy. We use vrbo very frequently and I must say that this is one of the nicest we have ever stayed in. Thank you for making our holiday so wonderful!
We enjoyed our stay very much. We had everything that we could have needed. The rental was very comfortable and well furnished.
The casa was well appointed. Very comfortable and cozy. Great to have the bikes and kayaks!!
I would stay there again!!
The owners have done a very nice job presenting their home which is located in the center of the maze of Loreto Bay homes. The art and décor are very attractive. The two bedrooms are on different floors separated by a steep outdoor staircase. Both the main part of the home and the upstairs bedroom are well equipped with AC, TV and ceiling fans that work, but with no instructions as to how to operate. The upper deck is furnished with a table and chairs that are a little mismatched and two lounge chairs with cushion covers torn by the weather. The upper deck BBQ needed cleaning, but worked well. The kitchen is quite well equipped and appliances are all functional. The beach is about 600 feet (not 300) and the pool is about 700 feet from the house. Five of six palapas on the beach a month after a strong storm are still unusable. The kayak attendant was not available for most of our visit. The most frustrating aspect was that the WiFi (internet) did not work for the 1st two days + and we had to track down the repair people and use up much of the 1st two days of our vacation to escort them in and out of the unit. The antenna on the roof had been inoperable long before our arrival even though we had specifically asked that WiFi be checked for availability. Village amenities were mostly closed except for the Wine Bar which is nice. The tennis facility is trashed from years of neglect and downed trees. The golf center is nearly empty and considering the quality of the course, it is expensive to play. The house (property) manager was not available during the weekend. A bicycle tire was flat and the pump broken. Only one 5 gallon purified water jug was provided (not 2).
The good news is that the Sea of Cortez water temp was about 84 degrees. There are lots of good restaurants in Loreto. The swimming pool nearest this home is excellent and comfortably furnished. The house has 4 air filled water mattresses that are great for floating off the beach. The scenery from the beach and around the area is as always beautiful. We had a great day of fishing by simply visiting the Loreto marina and introducing ourselves to a local.
This is the 3rd time I've stayed at this home and it gets more comfortable every year. The amenities are that of a 4 star hotel!! The kayaking in Loreto Bay is beautiful. My friends and I throughly enjoyed our stay in this fabulous house. Thank you.
This was the most amazing trip. The accommodations were better than some 5 star hotels. They have thought of everything. Kitchen fully stocked, comfortable beds, bikes and fresh water. The upstairs B-B-Q patio was so romantic. We enjoyed our daily morning walks to the beach just a 1 minute walk down beautiful landscaped cobblestone walkways. Every day my husband saw another idea he wants to put in our yard.
The Sea of Cortez was the warmest body of water we have ever experienced. I usually have a hard time being in the water very long due to getting cold. The water was nearly 90 degrees. I even learned to paddle board for the first time because I was so comfortable. Everyone at the beachside kayak shack treated us like family. It was fun to enjoy the nearby hotel for margaritas and snacks before dinner. We met people there we will be friends with for life.
This was a very affordable trip as well because the rates were so reasonable. Next time we will bring friends down to share this amazing experience. What you see in the photos dose not even capture the beauty of this place. Thank you Cambria and Dwight for sharing our home!!
We are located in Loreto Bay which is about 8 miles south of downtown Loreto. The setting is very peaceful with fountains and landscaped walkways. Lush vegetation with lots of trees and flowers. Our casa is set about 300 feet from the beach- just a 30 second walk out the front door and you are on the beach. There is a kayak shack where you can rent kayaks (we have two for our guests to use at no extra charge) and snorkel gear. you can also charter a boat to go to the islands for a day of snorkeling or fishing. On the South end of the beach there are Palapas and lounge chairs for daily use at no charge. you can order snacks from the pool bar/cafe or bring your own. There is a beautiful ocean front 18 hole championship golf course that surrounds an estuary full of wildlife. You can also check out my restaurant recommendations on our blog called LoretoLiving(dot)com and our other properties at LoretoParadiseProperties(dot)com.
Thank you for your interest in our property for your vacation and we look forward to accommodating you and your guests in Loreto!
Saludos, Dwight and Cambria Dotterer
