MADISON BAY RETREAT is a secluded waterfront property on Port Madison Bay, near scenic Hood Canal, just north of Bainbridge Island-- perfect for family vacation/weekend get-away. Our home offers an island-like experience within easy striking distance of Seattle. This tastefully furnished 1900+ sq. ft. home is perched on a seaside bluff, offering a spectacular view of the Puget Sound, Mt. Rainer & snow-capped Olympic Mountains. It is recent construction with large view deck, hardwood floors and a vaulted ceiling. Amenities include fully-equipped kitchen & satellite. TV. It's surrounded by acres of wooded area & little development and is a 4-minute walk to the beach. The house lies on the edge of a small town, Indianola, which has served as a vacation retreat for Seattle area residents since the 1920's. The town offers the best of both worlds: It has a tranquil, village-like atmosphere, yet it is less than 15 minutes to the ferry and within 20-25 minutes of larger population center

Port Madison Bay, near scenic Hood Canal, is 12 minutes from the Kingston ferry and 1.5 hours from Seattle. The house overlooks a sheltered bay that is great for beachcombing, swimming, sailing, boating and fishing. Our property has easy beach access. Groceries, café and other basic amenities are within easy walking distance in the town. Historic Poulsbo (20 minutes), with its many galleries, artisan shops, ethnic restaurants and picturesque waterfront is a major tourist destination. The area is also a convenient point of departure for exploring Port Townsend, Whidbey Island and the Olympic National Forest. A new 18-hole golf course is 5 minutes away and public tennis courts are walking distance. For guests interested in more urban exploration, Seattle is also an easy day-trip via the Bainbridge Island (Winslow) ferry (30 minutes away), which docks in downtown Seattle. Bainbridge also offers great restaurants, specialty shops, galleries, golf and cultural events year-round.

Notes: A deep lot (600 foot) with lots of trees and shrubs provides plenty of privacy. Only one other house is visible from the site. The beach is about a 4-minute walk, via footpath and easy access stairs. Swimming beach is about a 12-minute walk or 5 minutes by car. A large, partially covered deck overlooks the water and an expanse of lawn and landscaped backyard. There is a gas barbecue, wooden deck chairs and large teak patio table with umbrella. The kitchen is fully equipped, including service for 10. Children are welcome but parents must supervise at all times due to location on bluff and to loft construction of home. Bunk bed may be hazardous for younger children. Small dog permitted if arranged in advance with owner and with payment of pet deposit. Minimum age requirement for unrelated guests.

More On Immediate Location: The house overlooks a sheltered bay that is great for beach combing, swimming, sailing, water-skiing, kayaking, and fishing. Groceries, cafe, and other basic amenities are within easy walking distance. A short wooded trail from the property provides easy access to the beach below. There are beautiful walks and hikes right from the front door; there is very little automobile traffic in the entire area. The nearby Indianola Country store is the central meeting place for all the town. It has all the basics, plus espresso, deli take-out, a small cafe area, and DVD/video rentals. The New York Times or local papers can be reserved at the store. Indianola also has a post office and a community center that hosts theater and other events throughout the year. An new 18-hole golf course is located just a few minutes away. Tennis courts area within walking distance as well.

Nearby Attractions: Indianola is located near the scenic Hood Canal area of the Kitsap Penninsual. It is less than 15 minutes to the ferry and within 20 minutes of larger population centers with a range of attractions, shopping, and other amenities. Kingston (less than 15 minutes away) has full service grocery stores, banks, restaurants and other services. Historic Poulsbo and Bainbridge Island are less than 30 minutes away and are major shopping, recreation and tourist destinations. We are also a convenient location for exploration of the Olympic Peninsula and day-trips to Seattle.

this was by far the most beautiful, peaceful place i have ever stayed.
it was truly magical.
i enjoyed every moment.
it was clean, we cooked and relaxed,sang and even saw a racoon.
thankyou so much for the experience.
next time i would stay a week and forget the hotels completely.
i hope to return with my grandchildren someday to show them this beautiful part of our country. i would recommed this rental to all my friends and family.
the owners and the cleaning girl where especially helpful with a incident we had and were so honest that we returned the next day and broght them flowers and a gift.
no words can explain the passion and honesty we encounterd. the country store near by was a pleasent place to find little things we had forgotten.
mostly it was a magical place to just relax and enjoy.
thankyou again for the experience!!!
