SeaLodge beach:
SeaLodge beach is the ultimate private little beach protected by a large reef just below our house. The short trail walk is worth the effort if you like a private beach with only a few people sunbathing at most. The large reef keeps the shoreline protected most of the year but not suggested during HUGE swells in the winter months.
Swim just beyond the reef on the North side and you'll find the most beautiful tropical fish. My first experience opened my eyes to the actual size many of the tropical fish. Be careful on the outside reef area as the waves can throw you up onto the shallow reef section. Take a flashlight if you enjoy exploring the deep holes of the reef, several are to the North in 10' of water.
We provide mask, fins, snorkel and reef shoes for 5 people. Enjoy
North Shore Kauai, most romantic place on earth:
'voted the most romantic place on earth'
Because its North Shore is so lush and tropical, Kauai is nicknamed 'The Garden State.' Rumor has it that it always rains on the North Shore, which is why I spent the last 15 years vacationing on the South Shore, in Poipu. It took one day in Princeville to learn that Kauai's tropical shoreline gets more rain, but 80% of the annual rainfall occurs at night. You may get 5 minutes of rain while spending a day at the beach, but the sun will return shortly, giving you a short, refreshing escape from the heat
Fishing in Kauai:
I fished with Don 2 times during the summer of 2007 with great results:
The top picture on our personal website (contact owner for web link) is Don and myself gaffing an 86lb (felt like 150) Yellowfin Tuna. The fight took 1/2 hour with 4 deep runs to the ocean depths. Tuna tend to go straight down and tug hard trying to break your back or maybe your line. It's not uncommon to bring in a tuna with a hook and broken line still connected from a previous battle.
The center and right picture was a July trip that produced as many football sized tuna as you could catch. The right picture was 100 yards of breaking fish... the ocean is alive in Kauai.
Bottom, you'll see a full day 8 hour private charter trip ($900)........ I'd say successful. Shared trips are $175 PP and most tip 20-30% and he works hard
Golf:
3 Championship 9 Hole Courses
The 3 Championship courses have the most beautiful Kauai surroundings exclusive to Princeville and each is distinctively different from the other. I personally enjoyed the Ocean course because it plays fair and has beautiful views from most holes.
You'll find many courses in Kauai but the reasonable green fees at the Makai course at $125 non-resident rate and very little crowds, it's refreshing to play a nice course with well kept greens. Princeville tends to have showers for 5 minutes daily, I recommend an umbrella and rain gear just to be safe.
