A lovely provençal villa in a pretty and quiet domaine with pool and views

This charming, south facing sunny villa is set in an exclusive, gated, hilltop domaine and is perfectly positioned on the Côte D’Azur, close to the coast between Nice & Antibes. The domaine is full of traditional character and enjoys an elevated position over the valley below. We have a large, shared pool with stunning views of the medieval village of St Paul de Vence in one direction and the sea in the other. It is the ideal base for exploring the French Riviera and the villages-perchés close by. It is only 10 minutes drive from the airport and just 15 minutes walk to the famous village of St Paul. Yet, while the villa ensures easy access to all the Côte D’Azur has to offer, it’s location in such a pretty and tranquil domaine means that on return from a day exploring you can easily relax and soak up the wonderful provençal atmosphere....... perfect! Our villa within the domaine is one of a small number of private one and two bedroom residences and is called Mimosa Villa for the 2 mimosa trees growing there. We have wonderfully sunny south-facing private gardens with three separate terraces all with breathtaking views of the sea, Cap D'Antibes and the wooded valley below. We have dining areas and sun loungers placed throughout which are perfect for alfresco dining and sunbathing. Or if you’d like to relax in the shade, pick a spot under our lovely big old pine tree. For sunny breakfasts, the breakfast terrace has a unique stone table that was once an olive millstone and seats 8 comfortably. At night, the views of lights twinkling along the coast and of starry skys are spectacular too. It all makes it very difficult to ever leave!

Inside the villa, large French doors in both the living area and main bedroom open onto the balconies so the wonderful views can be enjoyed there too. We’ve just added a beautiful new kitchen with all modern equipment and remodelled and redecorated the living and dining areas so they are lovely places to relax and read or listen to some music or watch movies, whatever your heart desires. With 2 double bedrooms, both with great sized ensuites, Mimosa villa can comfortably accommodate up to 2 couples or families of 4/5 as we have a cot bed for very young children or the sofa bed provides useful additional sleeping space.

About Claire Hamilton

Home for me is Belfast in Northern Ireland. It's a convenient spot for small city living combined with easy access to the scenic coast, beaches and mountains for enjoying the great outdoors. I'm a chartered accountant who, pre children, worked and travelled widely through Europe and North America as part of my career and well and truly caught the travel bug and a love of discovering new places! Now married with 2 wonderful children, Luke 10 and Hollybell 8, my husband Peter and I wanted to find a place in the sun we could escape to for some rest and fun with the family.

Why Claire Hamilton chose St-Paul-de-Vence

Peter and I fell in love with Mimosa Villa on sight. It's in such a characterful and beautiful little Domaine and the accommodation lends itself perfectly to relaxed, get away from it all, living. We own it with Peter's brother Ken, his wife Janet and their 2 children, Rose and Theo and we try to spend as much time there as possible in school holidays. It is the perfect spot for us because it's right on the Cote D'Azur and only 10 minutes from Nice airport so easy to pop over for a visit. While it's easy to access all the French Riviera has to offer, it's location in the hills above the busy coastal routes, in St Paul de Vence, means its a real escape from the hustle and bustle too. Our most favourite thing is to come home after exploring one of the beautiful villages perches to relax on the terraces and soak up the spectacular views down the valley to the sea. It's difficult to leave! Of course, the kids favourite thing to do is swim and dive in the large pool -they've quite perfected the art of diving for treasure there!

As we can't be there all the time, we also love to share our villa with our guests. We look forward to welcoming you and will do everything possible to ensure you have a truely wonderful time there.

Great winter stay!

Geweldige plek!

We zijn bij aankomst meteen weg van het uitzicht. Er staat een heerlijke bries. Die maakt het overdag heel prettig en 's avonds niet te warm. We genieten iedere avond op het balkon van het uitzicht. Binnen is het perfect en warm ingericht. Met oog voor detail. De bedden zijn prima en de openslaande deuren van de grote slaapkamer maken het plaatje compleet. De keuken heeft alles wat je maar wensen kunt. Ook een magnetron is aanwezig. Het zwembad is groot en schoon. Ook hier een mooi uitzicht naar de zee toe en op St Paul. Tripjes genoeg in de omgeving. Wij hebben hier een fantastische twee weken gehad!! We love it!!

The location is perfect in every aspect!

Very cosy house, very good equipment and design, including a booklet by the owners with all necessary information; nothing is missing. Calm surrounding.

Beautiful view over the hills until to the sea. Very nice balcony and terraces. The whole "Domaine" is very well maintained. Close to the picturesque and famous village of St.-Paul-de-Vence (about 20 minutes walk).

I can highly recommend for relaxed holidays.

Charming property in a beautiful setting

What a wonderful Christmas we had at the Villa Mimosa. This is a really comfortable, stylish and thoroughly charming property with marvellous views over the valley towards the sea - which shone in the distance when the sun came out. The villa is very well equipped, it is very tastefully decorated and we wanted for nothing. It's ideally situated in a quiet domaine, very secure, and walkable to both the big Leclerc supermarket one way and the village of St Paul the other way.

We were very well looked after by the lovely Elaine, who was most helpful and very friendly, a pleasure to meet.

We would love to return, perhaps in warmer weather when we can make full use of the terraced garden (and large communal pool). This is a property of the highest standard and we had a super stay - thank you The Hamiltons, who were warm and welcoming from the outset.

Relaxing holidays in a perfect evironment

The villa is situated near the beautiful medieval village of Saint Paul de Vence. It has stunning views to the sea and over the hills from the living room, the bedroom and three terraces. It is very well equipped and offers everything we could think of for very relaxing holidays. Claire was very kind and helpful and we will definetely come back.

Perfect retreat ideal for that Riviera Experience.

This was our second visit to the Domaine du Piol, this time with friends to the larger Mimosa Villa. We cannot fault this group of properties just 500m walk from St Paul de Vence. Mimosa is well fitted out with a good kitchen, comfy lounge and bedrooms and great balcony & gardens. A car is a must, but that gives you the freedom to explore. There are dozens of all levels of restaurants, Vence is a much underestimated attractive town, and the other surrounding villages are fascinating. The only downside of Nice is the TRAFFIC, so I advise you head for the hills and escape most of the hassle & bustle.

Overall Mimosa Villa/Domaine du Piol is a great base for the Cote d'Azur and we recommend it without any hesitation.

The Villa is ideally situated as a base for visiting the French Riviera and exploring the seaside resorts of Nice, Antibes, Cannes and St. Tropez as well as the historic mountain villages nearby. The most famous, St. Paul de Vence is within easy walking distance (15 mins approximately). It's a simple Provençal village… A café nestles on the square, shaded by plane trees. A game of boules is underway. You stroll along the ramparts, wander from art gallery to craft shop, linger by the village fountain, sample the local wine, and take it all in…This medieval village with its ramparts and cobbled streets, described as the most beautiful village in France was once the home of many famous artists such as Chagal, Renoir & Mastisse and its association with art is still seen today with its magnificent art shops and galleries. The world class museum Fondation Maeght and renowned restaurant Le Colombe D'Or are both within walking distance. Monte Carlo is half an hour's drive, with the Italian border and Southern Alps both just 40 minutes away. The renowned ski resort of Isola 2000 is an hour's drive. Both Nice & Antibes have historic markets that are not to be missed!

Notes:
The villa has been totally renovated to a very high standard. The master bedroom with queen-sized bed has patio doors which open onto the south-facing balcony. The en-suite bathroom has a large shower cubicle, bath with shower head, toilet and double vanity unit. The second bedroom also has a queen-sized bed. The en-suite bathroom has a large shower cubicle, toilet & handbasin. There is a further toilet and wash basin in the cloakroom. Heating is by electric radiators supplemented in the Lounge by an electric log-effect stove in winter months. For your entertainment there is a Hi -Fi system with surround sound speakers, DVD player and flat screen TV. The lounge has patio doors opening onto the balcony, and includes two sofa's. One is a quality double sized sofa-bed which is comfortable for two adults. There are steps down to the villa and garden, due to its hillside situation, so is not suitable for toddlers or the infirm. Babies and children over 3 are welcome.
