Not Excellent, but Good

The HomeAway web listing and the owner's website descriptions are very accurate. The house is large. The pictures do show what exists. But there are some other items to keep in mind. The house is really a house, and a separate extra three bedrooms that only have external access. This can be tough if you want to be able to have children in some of these extra bedrooms. The kids would have to go outside, in the dark, up external stairs, unlock an external door, to get to the rest of the bedrooms. The driveway is steep and small; no more than three cars can fit and be able to move. Although the home looks nice, it has maintenance issues. The owner is not local, and the maintenance/cleaning team leaves something to be desired. From previous reviews I was worried about this, and it unfortunately came true. I was met with the refrigerator being out, and having an "extra" frig on the deck. But I had to spend a half hour cleaning it because it was filthy and left with live bait. The dishwasher was not functioning properly. I had to manually recycle the hot water heater the second day we were there. Light bulbs in fixtures were out (inside and outside the house). And the bed frame in one of the bedrooms was broken. House is mostly clean, if you do not look for the dust in corners, on fixtures, and such. House furnishings are stuck in the 80's.
The best parts of the house are the great room/dining room, and the firepit. (Be prepared to buy your own firewood.)
The home is not that far from Branson. So that we were able to get to what we wanted, and still be far enough away at the end of the day. But you are out in the boonies. Don’t plan on getting any cell phone service. Thank goodness for the wifi. The house is well provisioned with household items. We really liked the high efficiency washer & dryer. Big plus is the new Sunset Market on 76 and the Dogwood Lanes (make sure to check their $1 a game night, shoe rental $2.50.) We enjoyed Branson, but one time was enough.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. I have addressed the cleaning company and now have someone else cleaning the house. The refrigerator and the dishwasher are working properly. The driveway is scheduled to be expanded even more this fall. We have also added more lighting on the steps. Some cell phone carriers do get reception at the house and there is a phone in the house.
