Huge Disappointment

We were greeted at this property with a barrel of trash at the entrance steps. We walked in and our stomachs dropped. My husband and I spent the first hour of our vacation cleaning the floors, doors, and railings. Seeing that you are charged a fee for cleaning I would think it would not have taken extra cleaning on arrival.(The bathrooms were clean). We were told there were 2 twin beds which I brought sheets for (not there). All "beds" were really mattresses on the floor, there was only one room that had a bed frame. One room was unusable, the mattress being filthy with no mattress cover on it. The 2 futons were broken and grungy. I had to use the blankets we brought to cover them before anyone would sit down, thankfully it was a hot week and we didn't need the blankets for warmth. There was no furniture on the deck so we lugged our beach chairs up and down the stairs. There is a grill and picnic table in the back but the entire area was filled with dog excrement. Before booking the house, I called and spoke with someone several times because I was nervous about not seeing the place first. He knew it was a family coming. I questioned about a dining table and seating because the pictures don't really show where you'd eat. I was assured there was a table and chairs which ended up being a table that barely 4 people could sit at with folding chairs. I had apologized for calling with so many questions but I was told that it was fine that they wanted us to be happy with the place so we would rent from them in the future so I felt reassured about booking the house. This property is meant to be rented by a group of college kids who want a place to crash, not by a family who plan on eating together and hanging out. One of the owners was around doing work on another property during our stay, and I politely told him my disappointments. He gave me a number to call. I have called that number 3 times, left messages twice and have not received a reply. I then called another number given to us with our confirmation letter and was told that a message would be left and one of the owners would get back to me promptly. I have yet to hear from them. I would not recommend this property.
