This house is in a gorgeous location situated atop 7 acres in Seaforth overlooking Gaetz Lake and the Atlantic Ocean. Our vacation rental has been referred to as the 'Red House' by family and neighbours for years, due to the red trim. All properties in this area are over 2 acres ensuring privacy and open views. The views are breath-taking and if you leave your windows open at night you are sure to hear the waves. This property is perfect for a private retreat or a gathering of family and friends with 1200 square feet of outdoor decks and balconies and lots of bright Adirondack chairs to sink into. Enjoy an early morning walk on the beach or fishing in the lake. There is always something to do or nothing to do, whatever you choose.

This area is ideal if you like to be active on vacation- kayaking, fishing, hiking, biking, surfing or just plain beach combing. The famous Trans Canada Trail is located just 500 meters outside your doorstep. From this property you can watch the tide rise and fall in the Atlantic Ocean, you may occasionally see surfers surfing at one of the best surfing points in North America, or ospreys hunting prey, or even the resident seal out on the rock, and not only is the Marine Drive wonderful for activities but as you drive along you will see tidal inlets, blue herons, beaches, spectacular views and don't forget to stop into Three Fathom Harbour to watch the fisherman bring in their catch for the day. You may even find yourself having a Lobster supper. If you crave more of the 'big-city' Halifax is only 35 km away. It is a major international city which has first class activities and attractions, including Celtic music, restaurants, excellent nightlife, many festivals and loads of history.

  • The Master Bath has a claw foot tub where you can stare out the window for hours along with a separate tiled shower with a rain head shower head. Perfect for after a long day at the beach. The bathroom on the main level has a shower and our washer and dryer for all your laundry needs. The bathroom on the lower level has a large shower, great for after a day at the beach. Linens and Towels are provided.

  • Our Master Bedroom has a full wall filled with windows that open to ocean views. The master bedroom suite is the entire top floor of the house with a daybed and window seats to stare out at the view. The master bedroom suite also has it's own balcony and en suite bath. On the second floor there are two bedrooms. One bedroom has a queen size bed with a view of the garden. It is a large spacious bedroom and there is ample room if need be for a playpen or crib. The second bedroom has two twin beds and garden doors which lead out to a three season screened in porch. On the bottom level there is a pullout sofa in our entertainment room with a private en suite bath.

Notes: The spring of 2008 will bring great changes to our vacation rental by the sea. The house is undergoing extensive renovations that will include renovations to all our bathrooms, the addition of a three-season porch and two car garage, a new upstairs balcony, a new roof, our bottom floor will be changed into a entertainment/media room area with sleeping for two, and a new entrance. For this reason at this moment our photos are limited to the outside of the home. Please stay tuned and visit often to see our progress. Our vacation rental currently has 16 foot ceilings with hemlock beams, and it is tile and hardwood throughout. Great for anybody with allergies.

Festivals: Nova Scotia has over 700 festivals annually. Mahone Bay Classic Boat Festival : July 31st-August 3rd. Louisburg Crab Festival: August 1-2nd. Nova Scotia Folk Art Festival : August 3rd. Digby Scallop Days: August 7-10th. Halifax International Busker Festival: August 8-17th. 50 Mile Route of Yard Sales: Sept 6-7th (takes place on the Marine Drive right in front of our vacation rental). These are just some of the Festivals to name a few.

Outdoor Activities: Lawrencetown Beach a Provincial Park is located just 10 km. away. This beach is supervised by the Nova Scotia Lifeguard service. One Life Surf School is one of the first women's surfing schools located only 6 km. away. The Trans Canada Trail in Nova Scotia stretches for 800 km along shoreline, through wooded areas, along old railways tracks, and along rivers and lakes. This trail can be accessed within 500 m of our vacation rental. Dartmouth is known as the City of Lakes. There are many opportunities to rent kayaks, canoes or just spend quiet time on the lakes edges fishing.
