Welcome to Casa Majahua (ma-ha-wa)! It is our pleasure to share our home with guests from around the world. We have spent quality time preparing Casa Majahua for visitors by sharing our home with family and friends. This allowed us to decide what was ‘just right’ so our guests can enjoy Casa Majahua the way we do.
We have a handful of ‘themes’ that we ensure are present at Casa Majahua:
* Private & Communal areas
Casa Majahua was built with an open floor plan so guests can experience the unspoiled natural beauty surrounding the property. There are ocean views from the living room, dining room, upper decks and each casita. The construction consists of local soft and hard woods (most of which are sustainable) and artisan craftsmanship is seen in every door, window, cabinet and gate.
But natural and architectural beauty is not the only thing that sets Casa Majahua apart from other rentals. We also offer on-site personal attention during your visit. As part of your reservation, you will be greeted by our Property Manager, Alejandro or his wife, Mariana when you first arrive. They will walk you through the property and explain everything to you. Mariana will also check in every other day to ensure you have everything you need. She can help you arrange tours or provide help in other areas (i.e. shopping). Also, a cook can be arranged for $100 pesos per person per day (plus you pay for the food itself). Please indicate whether you'd like this additional service when you make your reservation.
Lastly, Casa Majahua staff are on-site every day to clean living spaces (sheets are changed every 3 days...towels more often based on guest need), water plants and clean the pool. We also have a night watchman, Don Tino, who rounds out our 24 hr security.
Casa Majahua is made up of five separate structures--a common area, two identical casitas, a guest quarters and a tower. The combined living area is just over 6000 square feet on almost a half acre of land. Please see the site plan that is shown as one of the pictures.
The first floor of the common area houses the kitchen, dining room, living room and a full bathroom. The dining room table can accommodate up to 18 people. The living room is connected to the infinity pool and has direct access to the swim-up bar, not to mention direct access to the beach and views of the ocean and Majahua Point. There are stairs in the living room to the second story as well.
The pool area includes a swim up bar, steps into the pool from the living room, a wrap-around deck, an attached hot tub and a shower as you come in from the beach.
The second story of the common area contains one enclosed bedroom/entertainment room (full futon) which is air conditioned. The rest of the second floor is an open loft area, which can accommodate overflow sleeping. Another unique feature of this level is a 'gangplank' that traverses the dining room to a deck where you can watch the sunset.
Each of the two casitas has an outdoor living room with sleeping chaise lounge (full size - can accommodate 2 people). There is an inside bedroom (king bed) on the first level with large full bath, and the second level is a loft area, which can be used for overflow sleeping (full size futon). The casitas copy the common area 'gangplank' effect, and each have a little deck to look out to the ocean. The casitas utilize palapa roofs that allow in sea breezes, therefore, no air conditioning is utilized.
The Guest Quarters contain two separate air conditioned bedrooms (queen bed) and one shared full bathroom.
The Tower is two stories. The first story contains the laundry facilities. The second story is one bedroom (queen bed) with an attached full bathroom. This room also enjoys strong ocean breezes, thus no air conditioning.

Four friends who wished for a little escape from the work-a-day life.
Shawn purchased this villa in 2008
We wanted to be on the beach away from the tourist throngs.
Being as close to unspoiled nature as you can possibly get.
We enjoyed warm days with the temperature varying just a few degrees cooler at night. It was never too hot due to the soothing sea breeze. Every morning we were greeted by the smell of fresh coffee, a lovely breakfast cooked just for us by the kitchen staff, and the gorgeous resort like surroundings of Casa Majahua. The architecture and flow of the property is truly mesmerizing.
For some of us, our waking destination was straight to the beach to see what treasures the ocean waves had deposited on the sand from the night before. For others, it was a lounge chair in the sun, a cool morning dip in the infinity pool, or a warm soak in the seaside jacuzzi. Our days were spent in true vacation style... swimming, sunning, exploring, surfing, shelling, reading, napping, kayaking, beach walking, whale watching, tai chi class, massages, sipping cocktails, snacking on guacamole and chips, playing dominoes, savoring a cold beer, enjoying the abundant wildlife, visiting the local restaurants and gazing at beautiful sunsets. Most nights, before heading to bed, we would lay back in the poolside loungers and watch for falling stars. We were never disappointed. Once in bed we would close our eyes to the sound of waves breaking on the beach lulling us to sleep and into dreams of the next day's adventures.
We are so very grateful to have had the opportunity to enjoy this very special slice of "heaven on earth". A huge thank you goes out to owner Robert Huggins for going above and beyond to insure our stay at Casa Majahua was a memorable one. We had a great time! Thank you!!
We recently spent a week in total paradise at Casa Majahua. Our first visit there and we are already wondering when we can return!! There are plenty of spots (lounge chairs, hammocks, etc.) to either read, visit, relax. You can walk the beach, watch the sunset, swim in the infinity pool or just enjoy the view! Wherever you sit, the open air concept gives you a great view of the infinity pool and ocean. The whole place is so well laid out. The staff are friendly and keep the grounds immaculate. Guihea's cooking is healthy but fantastic. Her coconut shrimp is absolutely mouth-watering! There are restaurants along the beach to stop and get a cool drink and snack or a meal if you are so inclined. If you are looking for a relaxing and laid back vacation, Casa Majahua is the place to stay! Thank you Shawn and Robert for an absolutely incredible week! We will definitely recommend this place to all our friends!!!
I can't say enough good things about the staff! Worth every Peso. The community is filled with great and knowledgeable people and they love tourists. Everyone is very friendly. I never felt unsafe. The River Kayaking is a must.
We helped release baby sea turtles at Roberto's Bistro. He's doing a wonderful thing saving them.
We also bought fans and supplies and took them to the elementary school. If you can do this it is very appreciated. Make sure you take soccer balls.
Back to the Casa, everything you could possibly need is there. I didn't want to leave!
We simply cannot say enough about our time at Casa Majahua! The home is...magical. Time, effort, great detail and love were put into the design and build of this beautiful property. Not only can you see you...you can FEEL it.
Location - couldn't be better...a corner lot with ocean views across most of it...steps to a private beach...across the street from a tiny village and just down the road from a larger village...remote yet not too remote.
Food - I have never had such fresh food in my life...and I live on the same street as a wonderful Farmers Market. Guille and Pali cooked many meals for our group. Every meal was delicious and simple. Having healthy, great tasting food prepared and cleaned up was an amazing treat.
Activities - There are so many options to choose from. They start with activities within the Casa and just a short walk away - seashell hunting, tidal pools, or visiting local resorts along the beach. Bike your way to Troncones for a little shopping, find the turtle hatchery or just go for a drink or snack at any of the restaurants. Using a car you can go on a kayak eco-tour arranged by Alejandro (awesome...you should go...just make sure your spouse's agenda doesn't include "how many kayaks can we ram while we're on the tour"), drive to Zihuatanejo to enjoy snorkelling or shopping, or go on a fishing excursion! A gentleman came by the Casa daily to see if someone wished to go horseback riding. Don't forget those activities closest to Casa Majahua...being in the pool, the jacuzzi and hammocks!
Staff - The staff are amazing people. They are genuine, honest and lovely to be around. Guille took care of all of our immediate needs, cooking and cleaning. It is worth the extra pesos to book her for cooking. Pali helped her as needed and takes care of the grounds (I believe). Don Tino is a lovely man who knows the property inside and out. I felt secure knowing he was there watching over us. Alejandro and his family love this property as if it was their own. The entire staff is the perfect complement to Casa Majahua...totally in alignment with the surroundings. My apologies if I've left anyone out.
We're already talking about our next trip...and how we wish to share this experience with other friends and family. Our whole party was in awe of how amazing the property is. This place is truly a slice of heaven. The area is authentic and unspoiled.
If you are looking for a place to relax, have a great time with friends and family, willing to try new things then this is the Place. Every one on this property is wonderful! Great cooks! There is tons of living area-porches, hammock (my favorite), sitting area including a bar on the pool!! Can't wait to go back!!
I recently spent a long weekend at Casa Majahua with some very good friends - and I loved every minute. The space is gracious and functional with the ability to sneak away for a private siesta or party with your friends all in the same afternoon. The service was impeccable, the landscaping was lush and the amenities were suburb. I would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a relaxing, comfortable, exciting vacation!
I've stayed at many fine hotels in my travels, and Casa Majahua rates up there with some of the finest. Guest quarters are incredible. The amazing views of the ocean and sunsets stay imprinted on your mind. The house staff is friendly and accommodating. The Infinity pool and jacuzzi are perfect for melting your cares away. The perfect location for a family or corporate getaway. I can't wait to schedule my next visit!
Troncones is a 5 KM beach including portions of straight white sand and some rocky points and coves. Surfing a large draw to this area, but the area also enjoys good fishing and wonderful bird and wildlife watching. The Sierra Madre de Occidental Mountain range can be seen about 100 KM to the East.
Other Activities: kayaking, boating, wildlife viewing
