Such an awesome experience! My family and friends truly enjoyed our stay at Fisherman's Retreat. We never ran out of things to do, from relaxing with a good book, to playing in the game room, to the outdoor experience at this great location. We never left the cabin our entire trip. The kids loved the loft space. We loved the decor and the ambiance of the entire cabin. It felt like home away from home. It was a relaxing getaway and we are excited to schedule a second trip in the upcoming year!
We have been coming to Hayesville since 2006 and are looking forward to building on our land here in the future. In the meantime, we visit during the Fall/Winter so that we can get away from the Florida heat.
This year we stayed at Fisherman's Retreat and had a truly wonderful week.
We loved how easy it was to find off the main highway without having to traverse down winding roads in the dark. The cabin was cozy and truly made you feel like you were being hugged by the warmth of it. The dogs loved the fence and quite frankly so did I. It gave me peace of mind and gave them room to roam. My husband loves chopping wood and "being the outdoorsman" on these trips and the scene of him by the rushing stream, splitting wood and watching it snow made me warm and fuzzy. He said it was so relaxing just to be one with the outdoors and the crisp of the air and the quietness of the morning was much needed.
The huge open floor plan for the main area was still very cozy due to the Adirondack build. Had a fire going every day.
I love to cook and was pleased to find a great selection of pots/pans/glassware/Tupperware to make meals easier to prepare.
We played with the giant checkers and the pool table gave us all a few good laughs because none of us were any good at it. :-)
We always go to the Copper Door in Hayesville for a romantic dinner and Chef Dennis is always there to make you feel welcome!
The Fisherman's Retreat is much larger than we would need, but we waited too late in the season to make our plans so there was not much available for when we wanted to travel. Lucky for us ... because we made some really spectacular memories at this home and will definitely be back.
Thank you for sharing your home with us...We wish you a fantastic 2015!
The cabin is beautiful the pictures just don't do it justice.
This is a place to relax and enjoy the mountains.close to town yet secluded.
We loved listening to the stream and trout fishing.
The hardest part was leaving.Hope to see you soon.

This was our fourth annual visit! Yes we love this beautiful cabin- It has become a family annual vacation! Grandparents, grand children, brothers and sisters, husbands and wives all pack into this spacious cabin! The cabin is on a beautiful creek calm enough to walk in and explore. We always enjoy grilling and cooking out on the deck as a tradition our first night! The grand children range from 7-13 years old. They always pack their nets and bug homes for lightening bug collection at night. Followed by a friendly competition of checkers and a game of pool in the neat basement. The basement also acts as a second little home for my brother and his family. We ventured to Dollywood this year. Roller coaster thrills in a beautiful family friendly theme park. As always we went mining for gems.My son has quite a collection from the last four years. We were lucky to also catch the state fair. Crafts, good food and rides for the kiddos. We rented a faster pontoon boat this year on Lake Chatuge and were all able to ride behind it on a big intertube. Lots of laughs and great videos! The lake is minutes away. We are from Florida and being on the lake with mountains surrounding us just about beats our ocean views. Folks in Hayesville are so friendly- it always take us by surprise. Bonfire and smores creekside are also a must. Soo thankful we learned about this beautiful cabin. Hard to leave each year!! Many memories made and more to come.
This was our second visit- last year was out first. The cabin is large enough to fit our whole crew! Grandpa, grandma, three familes and their kids! Let me start off by saying my five year old could not wait to get back to the cabin to see his memories from our last summer visit! We didn't know how we would beat last summers adventures, but we did! As soon as we arrived the kids had to take a walk in the stream just below the cabin. We started our vacation off with a cookout on the deck overlooking the stream. The next day we went tubbing- peaceful and fun! The following day we rented a pontoon boat a couple of miles from the cabin on Lake Chatuge- floated on tubes with beautiful mountains in the background. Being from Florida it was a nice change- No gators or sharks to worry about! Some of our other adventures included fires creek (free park, barbq grills, waterfall and a fun stream to tube down), fishing at Andy's trout farm followed by a fish fry, ride on the scenic Blue Ridge railway and visiting Eagle Fork winery literally down the road for a tasting and tour. The cabin is located central to visit Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee (via Blue Ridge Railway). We made many new memories this summer- ones we and our children will always remember. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your cabin!
