The Secret Garden Casita is situated in a turn of the century compound a block away from the historic Guadalupe District with restaurants, unique shops, and farmers market. Less than a half mile walk to the Plaza, the heart of Santa Fe, with galleries, museums, restaurants, outdoor markets, shops. Canyon Road, Santa Fe’s art community, is within walking distance. A short drive takes you to the famous flea market, world class opera, ski area, and casinos. The Secret Garden Casita is beautifully and comfortably furnished and features a fireplace, unique decorative tile, beautiful front and side entrances, skylights, and vigas throughout. An enchanting walled garden offers several seating areas to enjoy sunrises, sunsets, and star gazing and is accessible from the bedroom through French doors or front entrance. Enjoy roses, apple tree, and other delightful flowering vines, herbs, ornamental shrubs while having coffee, cocktails or meals at the unique hand carved wooden table and chairs.
The casita was exactly as advertised. Convenient location, walk to the plaza. Easy access to the highway. It was clean and had all the amenities, just like home. The Wi-Fi never failed us. Lots of nearby restaurants and supermarkets (Whole Foods, Trader Joe's). We stayed for a week and really enjoyed it.
Santa Fe is only an hour from Ojo Caliente spa and Georgia O'Keeffe's home. Don't miss either!
The casita is cozy and convenient to central Santa Fe and it has excellent storage in the bedroom. The garden was pleasant to be in and offered an excellent view from the bed. I did find that in some respects the feel of charm was actually leaning to the feel of being worn and slightly unclean, especially in the bath, kitchen and the linens. The wireless internet, which I needed every evening, was out 3 of the 9 nights I was there. There is also a skylight over the bed. It does not let you see the stars, but does really brighten up the room with sunrise. While this is a good feature if you like to wake up with the sun, it is not conductive to sleeping in.
we spent a month in the secret garden casita and enjoyed every minute of it.
the location is safe, quiet, and convenient (an easy walk to the plaza, even easier walk to the railyard district) for restaurant'ing, shopping, and sight-seeing.
the casita is charming (with a capital CH!), comfortable, and chock full of amenties to make your stay a pleasant one.
if you have a dog, there is a fenced yard and a park for pleasant walking about 2 blocks away. we hope to go back.
thank you, g.
ps. if you like indian food, raaga's on agua fria is yummy.
Stayed here for a week with two adults and an eleven-year-old (who slept on the pullout couch). It's small, but has a lot of amenities--kitchen, laundry, lots of storage, and that wonderful, lovely garden. The location is great--in addition to the short walk to the Plaza, it's near many interesting shops and restaurants in the Railyard area, as well as the commercial areas off of St. Francis St., and access to I-84 for destinations north of town. The casita itself is tucked onto a quiet side street, however. It was a wonderful place, and highly recommended.
This casita is conveniently located, decorated adorably and very comfortable for a couple. (as long as you're close to each other! It's a very intimate place) The listing is accurate and you have everything that you need. Loved the rooftop terrace and walled gardens. I walked everywhere during my visit. Lots of great art galleries and restaurants. I definitely recommend to anyone.
We loved this place! The New Mexico style and decorating was charming and well done. We loved getting a little sun in the patio -- and the good exercise of walking everywhere. Try "Mauka" restaurant, less than a block away. It deserves its award for the Best Restaurant 2008. Thanks!
