Picturesque waterfront home with stunning views of the Neuse River!! Rock or swing on the wrap-around porch and watch the dolphins come up the river to play in the morning and head back down at dusk. Relax on the pier as you fish for croaker, flounder and more—or, tie a crabtrap to the piling and have fresh crab for dinner, unless you prefer grilling steaks on the barbeque. Take a dip in the pool, or relax on the riverfront in an Adirondack chair as you watch the boats go by. The private beach is a perfect place to swim, sunbathe, kayak—or just relax in the hammock. Whatever you choose, you're sure to enjoy the slow pace and peaceful atmosphere at China Grove Plantation. For variety, bike or jog to Oriental, the “Sailing Capital of North Carolina,” or visit Coastal Living’s “10th Anniversary Idea House,” located at near-by River Dunes. Calla Lily Cottage sleeps 4-5 and has a separate guesthouse can sleep 2 more. A single step up offers easy access to each building.

Cala Lily Cottage offers access to many different activities and attractions. Take a quick trip to New Bern, only thirty minutes away, for fabulous dining opportunities, shopping in the picturesque town square, or tour the famous Tyron Palace. Or, simply stroll along the harbor and admire the many boats, both motor and sail. Two miles down the road from Cala Lily Cottage, you can hop the free Minnesott Beach ferry for a fifteen minute ride across the Neuse River. Once off the ferry, you can spend the day at the nearby Beaufort waterfront, where you can take a sight-seeing boat ride to Cape Lookout, or swim and walk the beach where the wild ponies run. Relax over lunch at one of the many fine outdoor restaurants in Beaufort. Across the bridge from Beaufort, Morehead City offers many deep-sea fishing boat trips. Continue down the road through Havilock, home of the Cherry Point marine base, to come full circle to the ferry for the short ride back home to Cala Lily Cottage.

My husband and I took my mom,dad and two sons, and stayed here for a week. Aside from some small problems that the owner took care of right away, we had the most relaxing, enjoyable vacation ever. The place was clean, the grounds were perfect, and the area is amazing. Taking fairies to different destinations was a lot of fun and within 30 minutes you can do pretty much anything you want and still come back to an amazing, peaceful property. We will go again.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Pet-friendly, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, People with Disabilities, Romantic Getaway
Owner's Response: Appreciate the great review. It's true--you can be so many wonderful places in 30 minutes. Or, you can stick right near home and enjoy the incredible peace and quiet while fishing, sailing, kayaking, or just hanging out on the porch with a book!

We escaped the New York holiday scene for the peace and quiet of the Inner Banks. Cala Lily was clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated. Our family has been renting coastal homes in the vicinity of Oriental for the past four years and this cottage is by far the most well appointed home we've stayed in. The morning sunrise walks to the point and the sunset toasts on the porch make Cala Lily truly a special place. We are already planning our next visit!

I stayed at Cala Lily cottage for a week in the Spring. The cottage is beautifully furnished and very comfortable. It has a very homespun beach feel to it. The view is spectacular of the Neuse River and I thoroughly enjoyed watching as kayakers and sailors moved up and down the river as I sat on the pier out the front door.I loved the fact that I could walk out the front door and be at the pool.The pool itself was extremely clean. The town of Oriental is a quick drive and quaint.I enjoyed having coffee in the morning at the locals place.The people were extremely friendly.The weather was beautiful for April although evenings were cool light jacket weather. I would go back in a heartbeat.
