Took a few years off to sail across the Pacific Ocean on a 29' sailboat. Saw gorgeous beaches all along the way: from San Diego south to Cabo San Lucas (Mexico), to the Marquesas and westward to the Great Barrier Reef. So many beautiful beaches, but I choose to settle in Waimanalo because, well, honestly, the blue of the ocean and the incredible beauty of this island takes my breath away each and every day.
Herlinda Lopez purchased this studio in 2008
Authentic small-town Hawaii. The most gorgeous beach in the world, but you'll have it to yourself most of the time. Experience Hawaii like a local! One guest said 'We arrived as 'guests', but when we left we felt like family'. My wish for all who come :)
Hale 'Nalo is an intimate beachside retreat located in a beautiful tropical setting. Three self-catering independent studio units, newly constructed in 2008. Simplicity, quiet, solitude, ocean, birdsong. Aloha, Namasté, and Welcome!

We really enjoyed our stay at Hale 'Nalo. My husband and I went to Oahu in November to get married on the beach near this rental location and we were very happy with our decision to stay there. The room was nice and spacious. I'm so happy that we stayed here instead of in the touristy Waikiki area. The location was nice and quiet and it was incredibly close to a beautiful beach. The house had equipment available including snorkels, goggles and water shoes (which saved us from having to pay to rent these things). The caretaker, Wayne, was so friendly and helpful. He was there when you needed him, but didn't hang around an unwanted amount. We definitely recommend it and if we're ever back in that area, we would stay there again.
I could not imagine staying in beautiful tropical Hawaii in a hotel or high rise. This wonderful B & B is set in a lovely tropical garden which is a great place to bird watch. Since it is 3 houses from the beach, you can enjoy your jet lag by greeting the sunrise on a perfect sand beach with few visitors and a great view.
The reviews before mine have said it all, great garden, wonderful spacious rooms as pictured, supplies laid in, kitchen and outdoor barbecue set up and a warm host who feels like a friend immediately. Making my own breakfast was a plus for me with my gluten free diet. I've been to many, many B & B's and this one is at the top of my list of favorites
This neat and tidy studio is the perfect place to relax, after a wounderful day on the nicest, and quietest beach in all of Oahu. Herlinda and her friendly dog helped to make our anniversary a week of happiness in paradise. Wakeing to the sound of the surf and birds singing in the AM is awesome, enjoying a cool drink in the beautiful back yard at sunset, life doesn't get any better then that. All the things you need for a great vacation are at your disposal, the pictures don't lie. We would not hesitate to come back to Hale Nalo paradise found. Marty & Millie.
Beautiful garden, birds singing, simple Hawaii living. Just a short walk to one of the world's most beautiful beaches. Great spot to relax. Property has a small library and beach chairs and equipment which we enjoyed.
We had a great time staying in hale 'nalo. The location was fantastic, just steps from the beach and a great base camp to explore the rest of the island. The accomadation was spotless and well stocked for our stay. Our host was wonderful and informative. If we return to Oahu we'll be back.
I had a great time staying in the studio. Very quiet. The amenities were great. I could walk to the beach or explore Waimanalo. Any time I had a question our host was very helpful. If I come back to Oahu I'll be back.

What a wonderful place to stay! The accommodations were very charming and had all the conveniences of home to include a very comfortable bed, great bathroom facilities and an added plus (and unlike some major hotels) the entire place was exceptionally well maintained and clean. In addition, there were amenities that I didn’t expect to be provided for a great beach outing such as big fluffy beach towels, coolers, boogie boards, snorkel gear etc.
Most importantly, Herlinda, our hostess who is the owner of Hale Nalo, along with the caretaker, Wayne were the best of hostesses we’ve ever had and greeted us with a warm and friendly “Aloha” upon our arrival. With this being our first visit to Hawaii, Herlinda was very generous and shared with us some of the native fruit, which we had never tasted, in order to insure we had and authentic Hawaiian experience. It was delicious! This is a great place to stay and we will definitely be back!
Thank you for the great accommodations, friendly service and for making our vacation one of the most memorable we have ever had!
Beautiful location just steps from Waimanalo Beach (aka Angel's Bay), named by FORBES Magazine to be the #5 Best Beach in the USA (2013) and ISLANDS magazine 'The World's BEST Summer Beach' (June 2010). Perfect for quiet getaways or fun explorations of Oahu. Easy day trips to anywhere on the island.
Minutes from Makapu'u Point (photo), known for its breathtaking views, picturesque lighthouse, walking trails, and whale watching (winters). A few minutes further is Hanauma Bay - a nature preserve where you can enjoy incredible snorkeling. Enjoy hiking, sailing, or a relaxing day on the beach. Easy drive to Waikiki, Honolulu, Northshore,...anywhere on Oahu really.
Other Activities: swimming with dolphins in the wild... reading a book on the beach with a big cold drink...kayaking, shelling, hiking, bird watching...
Golf: There are seven golf courses in our local area! Pali, Koolau, Olomana, Hawaii Kai, Turtle Bay, Waialae.... this is a golfer's paradise.
