Thanks for allowing us to use the studio. It’s a great unit and we had a blast. It was so relaxing that I actually lost track of the days and didn’t realize we had to check out. This was, by far, the most relaxing trip to Oahu I’ve ever had and I’ve been there more than 25 times.
Thanks again and we look forward to seeing if the unit is available again next time we head that way.
I couldn't have asked for a better room experience. There was a book left on the table full of great experience recommendations, that also included recommendations for when to go to avoid traffic/parking issues. The room itself had an extremely comfortable bed and fantastic artwork. The vaulted ceiling gave the room a spacious feel. When we go back, we will definitely stay again!
We stayed for work/vacation
Good- the studio was clean, well set up, and comfortable. Plenty of towels and washer and dryer avail. was great. The location was perfect, near beautiful beaches, and a nice smaller town. Owners were very obliging if needed anything.
Bad- construction on the house was going on during our stay and we were not notified before hand. The wood saw started at 7:45am one morning...unacceptable. Noise level of other guests/managers in units is very loud (you can hear stomping up and down stairs, doors slamming, outside cats fighting all night...) The busyness of the place was a bit much if your looking for a quiet getaway. Some of that noise (like the cats) is to be expected as the unit is in a residential neighborhood. Prospective renters were looking at the units while we were there, had to circle the neighborhood a few times as the only parking space available to us was taken up by other people looking to rent. Both managers/owners are onsite, this could be good or bad depending on your preferences. The pool was unusable as it was kept at a very cold temperature during the winter when we were there. You have to preheat the hot tub 30 min. prior to use, something to keep in mind if you like spontaneous hot tub-ing :) The location is great, but unlike the description, it is not a 15 min. walk to the beach in the unit pictures, more like 30 min if your a fast walker.
Overall it was just ok. We have a lot of friends coming and going out of the area, will only recommend to those who I know wont mind the above factors.
My husband and I recently visited Oahu to attend the pinning ceremony for our son who was promoted to Navy Chief, we extended this trip into a longer vacation to spend some extra time in Kailua, where I lived as a child. Coconut cabana was just what my husband and I were looking for, we do not go in for "night life" and wanted a more residential feel to our stay. While it was in a residential neighborhood, it was close enough town and to the beach that we could walk or ride our bikes (as the listing indicates, walking is 10-15 minutes to town and about 15-20 to beach). We especially enjoyed the walk to the beach through lovely residential areas. The room was quiet, and while we could hear muffled footsteps from time to time from the main house, it was not at all unreasonable or annoying: I typically experience much more noise staying in 5 star hotels when I travel for business. This was definitely quieter than any hotel I have ever stayed in. The fully equipped kitchenette made it easy to make a meal or two each day in the room, which is a money saver! The private lanai, while small, was a perfect place to sit together and eat breakfast or share coffee. The room is tastefully decorated and the bed is very comfortable. I have osteoarthritis in my back and hips, and a poor mattress could have resulted in a flare, especially following a 16 hour flight! Instead we were thankful to wake up refreshed and pain-free each morning, I need to remember to ask Susanne the brand and model of the mattress! As a note, I was tempted at first to try to reserve one of the two other rooms that opened directly to the lovely pool area, I did not (for cost savings) but now can say this room was the best choice for us even without consideration of cost! The access to the pool is easy, and we very much enjoyed the additional privacy this room allowed us to have. Susanne is delightful, but very busy. She is a concerned hostess who obviously takes pride in her property and genuinely wants her tenants to be pleased. We purchased one of her beautiful prints (still need to frame and hang) and coasters that we keep on our bedside tables, giving us a daily reminder of our dream vacation! We would absolutely stay here again if we visit the area again! And we would (and already have) recommended it to family and friends.
Cathy and I stayed a week at Susanne's rental. I am a former Honolulu resident and my stay felt just like coming home. Kailua has a charm that is warm and filled with Aloha. Susanne's rental was first class. The layout and furnishings were comfortable and very nicely detailed. The bed was ever so comfortable. The bathroom and kitchenette were perfectly designed and rich with art and comfort. We sipped out coffee on the lanai alongside lush tropical landscaping. Our host, Susanne is an artist and her art beautifully adorned the unit, depicting the natural beauty and lifestyle of the Islands. All the amenities imaginable were provided - from the pool and hot tub to bikes and beach fun boogie boards, back-rests, etc. Suzanne has made this rental a delight. We look forward to our next visit! - Rick & Cathy
What a wonderful vacation we had in Suzanne's lovely studio! Very clean, comfortable, quiet and beautifully decorated with her artwork. The pool and yard are a tropical paradise! My husband and I chose this rental because we lived for 12 years in Kailua in the same neighborhood. We always stay in this area because it is the best! So convenient (walking distance) to Kailua town with its wonderful shops and restaurants, gorgeous Kailua Beach and Lanikai and the Kalapawai Market for our morning coffee and 'talk story' with old friends and new.
We also stayed in the one bedroom for a few nights. Faces the pool and has a king bed vs the queen in the coconut cabana. Nice furniture in the outside areas too. Washer, dryer very convenient to have. Chairs and beach gear available.
If we stayed longer than 2 weeks we would have used the kitchen (with fridge and stove with 4 burners and oven) and grill to cook meals, but we were on vacation! Celebrated our 41st anniversary at Buzzes. Favorite lunch is Bale ( lemongrass chicken sandwich, pho). Uahi grill good too...kalua pork and kale, garlic chicken. Happy hour at the Whole Foods bar and plate lunch specials every day in the back by meats. Shave ice at island snow with ice cream on bottom and snow cap (condensed milk ) on top if you really want to be decadent.
Swap meet at Aloha Stadium Wed. Sat.Sun. Good for souvenirs and hawaiian style stuff and all kine treasures!
We have stayed at several rentals in the area over the years and this was the nicest and a good value.
My only recommendation...a few hooks or clothes lines inside or outside for wet bathing suits, towels.
We would stay here again and hope to soon!
What a wonderful little hide-away! We really enjoyed our stay in Kailua in your beautiful studio! We were very comfortable and the temperature was always perfect. Rode bikes to the beach - walked to the beach. Walked ENTIRE LENGTH of the beach. So beautiful! Paul loved Island Snow Shave Ice. Borrowed your book "Oahu Revealed" and it took us all over the island. Went to Waikiki Beach and ate at Duke's (What a bargain and terrific food overlooking the beach!). Snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, watched whales from trail to the point (lighthouse). Ate an unforgettable dinner at Hale-iwa Joes Haiku Gardens! Next time we'll get there at 5pm when they open! We fell in love with Kailua and we'll be back, it is a beach town, not a tourist town. Thank you so much!
