EXCELLENT STAY

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I stayed at this cabin on our honeymoon. We drove up mid-evening, and we immediately fell in love with the remote location. Driving up to the cabin in 4-5 inches of snow was an incredible feeling. We enjoyed the two days we stayed there immensely! The lower level bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. The views were stunning. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub! I will be coming back and will recommend this property to anyone interested.

AMAZING CABIN!

  • 4 of 5
Pros: 3 very comfortable king beds, spacious floor plan. Beautiful views, secluded. Comfortable. The hottub is great and it was beautiful to be in it and look at the stars at night. We are booking this cabin again next year, for sure.

Cons: Only one tv (and we felt it should be in the main floor). We didn't have hot water the last morning.

Tips: Bring tupperware to take leftovers home.

FUN FAMILY WEEKEND - BEAUTIFUL SETTING!

  • 3 of 5
We purchased a 2 night stay at Sangre De Cristo Home at a silent auction fundraiser, never having heard of the place. We used it to gather for the weekend with our kids and grandkids for my 50th birthday celebration. The home was very remote, almost an hour's drive from Woodland Park, on some fairly rocky roads. But once we arrived, we were charmed with the house, it's layout, and the fact that it was so secluded. The set up was great, with a bedroom and bathroom on each level. My husband and I took the master suite on the top level. I must say, whoever designed a bedroom with glass doors wasn't thinking about privacy! The beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms were clean. We had some issues with heating, and each level has separately controlled heat, but because of the open design, all the heat from the house seemed to travel upstairs. It took lots of adjusting, and opening and closing of windows throughout the weekend, but by the end of our stay we had the temperature mostly figured out!

The second morning we awoke to find we had no hot water, so no one could shower. We called the caretaker, and he was out within an hour's time to fix it. Turned out, a brief power outage during the night had reset the hot water heating system, and it was quickly rectified.

The deck was wonderful for sitting outside, and the views were beautiful. I would suggest staining the deck soon, as it was down to bare wood, and very splintery. Our grandsons kept walking out on the deck barefooted, and we spent a lot of time pulling splinters out of their feet!

We cooked all our meals at the cabin, and although it had plenty of cookware, the rest of the kitchen supplies were sorely lacking. An 8 piece place setting of dishware and silverware is not enough for a cabin that sleeps 8 people! We were washing dishes constantly to have enough plates, glasses and silverware throughout the day. Also, there were no plastic containers, aluminum foil or plastic wrap, although the website said there would be, so there was no way to save leftovers.

The big screen TV in the lowest level was enjoyed by the kids, although that was the only television in the home. I believe the website said there were 2, although that wasn't an issue for us. The hot tub was enjoyed too, and was very easy to operate, although the tie-down system for the lid is a little confusing.

All in all, it was a great get away weekend of memory making for our family!

WHAT DO YOU HEAR.....CORRECT...ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

  • 5 of 5
Our impression of the property, including dwelling and surrounding land was absolutely delightful. Very peaceful and tranquil and could not ask for a more relaxing vacation. We explored the property (plus others around us...shhhhhh) that were amazingly fun and interesting. The rocky outcrops, pristine wilderness and a few wildlife made this an absolutely enjoyable event. Only one major disappoint and that is we had to leave when our time was up. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and our chocolate lab, well he had such a great time, he had a major hangover following our trip home. He had the best time of all and we are thrilled that he enjoyed his time as it made ours just as nice. Note that Google Maps IPhone app took us right up to the place turn for turn and being so isolated, we were surprised. I probably would not have found it so quickly without it.

FLATLANDER

  • 5 of 5
Being from the Midwest, our family of four had a fantastic time during our week at this vacation home. The home was clean and had most of the accommodations that we needed for cooking, sleeping, showering, etc. and overall daily living. The 70-acre property was more than enough to expore, to the point of possibly getting lost! We also enjoyed soaking in the hot tub while watching the mule deer in the meadow.
