Cardeno is situated 5 kms from Josselin, a fascinating medieval town best known for its magnificent gothic chateau which rises high above the banks of the River Oust. The Basilica de Notre Dame de Roncier is in flamboyant gothic style while the surrounding streets are lined with timber-framed houses, shops, restaurants and cafes. The wide River Oust, canalized at Josselin is one of the best places for boating in Brittany. At nearby Ploermel the Lac du Duc (largest in Brittany) offers swimming, watersports and walks.
The focal point of the Morbihan region is the Golfe, approx 25 minutes drive away, a vast bay which has many islands, beautiful sandy beaches and rocky inlets. The Golfe is popular for sailing and cruising. Inland the region comprises rivers, fields and woodland with many quaint villages and towns to explore.
This part of Brittany enjoys an unusually warm and sunny climate which along with the rich varied habitat gives it a Mediterranean atmosphere.
