A family-friendly cottage on a relaxing, peaceful, spring-fed lake in the foothills of the Catshkill Mountains, outside of Deposit New York. Swimming, boating, and sunbathing are within 25' of the front porch. Just 3 hours from New York City. A great place to enjoy food and friends in a vacation setting that is calm and slow-paced. Time is tracked by the early morning mist on the water and the sunset over the mountains. Clear, refreshing, and tranquil lake water is more than welcoming; it is revitalizing. Fishing, hiking, antiquing, golf, and horseback riding, are available within minutes of the cottage. Scotts' Resort has golf & tennis; Chestnut Inn has Rock-the-Dock on Friday nights & a great restaurant.

Notes: Kitchen has 2 full-sized refrigerators as well as cookware, dishes, glasses, coffee cups, and silverware for about 16 people. Cottage is constructed of structural timbers that were felled and milled on site coupled with upcycled components from original cottage constructed in 1920's. Dining area is on the porch with 2 picnic tables which can seat approx. 16 people. Dock is approx. 20 stair steps from front porch and can accomodate more than 16 people in and out of the water. On-dock fire pit available for lakeside star gazing. Canoe with paddles and sit-on-top 2 person kayak with oar available for touring the lake. NOTE: TV is for DVD and Video watching only. There is no cable or satellite service for the TV.

CHILDREN in the WATER: The depth of the water goes from about 8” at the shore and about 54” at the front of the dock. It is great for little ones to wade in and good at the front of the dock for all to dive in. The bottom is mostly rocks, both round and flat with a little bit of dirt. It is extremely pleasant – nothing gooey. I have been swimming there my entire life and my kids have spent some part of all their summers in the lake as well (in the lead picture, that’s my son in the red trunks when he was 3. All water can be hazardous, but it is as safe as a pool in your back yard.
