Large and light-filled three bedroom apartment in old center-city Aix-en-Provence, a five-minute walk from the Cours Mirabeau, open-air markets, concerts and opera, museums and shopping. Ideal for entertaining with large kitchen and dining room and open living room area. 155 sq meters (about 1750 sq ft)

Building dates from early 19th century, original tile floors and rugs, furnishings and contemporary art. High ceilings/large windows throughout each room. Excellent room volumes and light; perfect for entertaining.

All front views onto leafy boulevard and back views (all bedrooms) onto large private garden (no access). Apartment occupies full first floor (one floor up from ground floor) of the building. Easy access to the coast and the mountains, ideal for short or long stays in all seasons of the year.

Aix center-city neighborhood location: This apartment is located on the very edge of the old center city of Aix-en-Provence, 1 min walk to the food shopping street, la rue d'Italie. 7 min walk (at most) to the Cours Mirabeau (our Champs Elysee, sort of!). 10 min walk or less to the open-air markets. The location could not be more central to everything that you will want to do--and on foot, not by car!

Aix-en-Provence is the historic capital of Provence, about 20 miles from the Mediterranean and a fairly short distance into the Alps. Aix is one of the most cultivated and charming cities in all of France, the old medieval and Renaissance quarters full of historic homes, squares, fountains (everywhere!) and streets. The open air markets are to die for. Aix is an hour and a half drive from Nice, 30 minutes from Marseille and Cassis and one hour from Avignon. The high-speed TGV train goes to Paris in 2h57m ! Aix is also a major university town, it's prestigious faculties teaching 30,000 students and major world-wide research in the humanities and sciences.

Notes: I lived here for 17 years full time (earlier with our kids, when smaller!), before work took me away (London/Washington) over half the year back and forth. Still live there well over 1/3 year, and hope to finish my days there!

What a joyous 3 weeks discovering Aix from the "home base" of this truly regal apartment.

The rare combination of elegance and warmth, the serenity of the window views, and spectacular decor - such a beckoning welcome!

The close proximity and local charm of shops, services and cultural venues were all within an easy walking
distance.

The owner, as well as his housekeeper, are pleasantly accessible should the need arise.

The only drawback - leaving!!

The listing description and photos are accurate and the owner was especially helpful and easily accessible. The apartment is beautiful - large, light and equipped with everything you'll need. The location is perfect for enjoying the city and for traveling around the area. Aix is a beautiful, vibrant city with a unique culture of its own.
